We were so excited to arrive- Anticipating this trip. We stayed at the Moon Palace last year. This year we thought we would try the Beach Palace.

There is NO beach. We did use the a bit of the beach next door, without any problems though. However, we spent MOST of our week at the Cancun Palace which is 3.5 Km away. We would walk or take the complimentary shuttle.

The MAIN pool is CLOSED! During Spring BreaK? What a terrible time to re-do a pool!? That was the main area of the resort. Again, only 2 small pools were open. Nothing exciting. The kids Club was another downfall. The lady in there yelled at my child when she walked in to see what they were making, and told her to get OUT and dry off. I was with her and it was harsh, and made her cry and never want to return. ( she wasn't soaking wet, but a bit damp---as she was swimming earlier)

The food was fabulous! I gained weight! My favourite was the Italian and we have traveled to Italy a few times, so I don't know why others have given it poor reviews. We ate there the most. The outdoor grill was good. Very salty steaks. The fish was awesome ( even the kids menu fish! ) The Asian restaurant- again- very nice. The Restaurant service was spectacular. Wine? well, just remember you are in Mexico and not France. It was OK, but nothing more.

The rooms- We started on the Lagoon view. It was OK, but noisy for us at night. I kindly asked at check-in if we could get an Ocean Front. She said none were available at the time, but to check with her in a day or two. I did and guess what! We got an Ocean view on the 11th floor! AMAZING! Much bigger and the views are TO DIE FOR!
Our housekeeper was terrible. We tried to tip her to see if she got any better, but nope, so we stopped tipping.

Our room was near the elevator and everything is marble, which looks nice, but SOO LOUD! We heard everything happening at all hours.

We spent one day at the Moon Palace as my kids loved that place and still prefer it. I prefer the Cancun Palace, as it has nice pools and a beach. Food was good there too.
I will include a few pictures.

Nightlife: not much. Fire show ONE night.

The rooftop bar, and lounge area is gorgeous but very hot during the day. Great sandwiches thought. Try the Spa one!

My one MAJOR complaint was check-out. We had to leave the Hotel at 6:30 am to make our flight. I thought we would just go and get a quick breakfast at 6am before we left, but they wouln't let us. Not sure why, as all I wanted was a few muffins and some boxed cereal for the kids. They refused to budge. Told me to order room service! I called and they said it would take 40 minutes! I didn't have 40 minutes, but they didn't seem to care.

Things got worse. We went to check out and Romand at the front desk gave us a TERRIBLE time. The credit card machines were not working. He kept trying all of them in the Hotel. NONE of them were working. We had to catch our cab and get going. Our room was all paid for, but we had $400 of extra's that we charged to our room. He had our credit card number and expiry date. My husband told him to just take an imprint of our card and charge us when his machines start working again. He refused. He was on the phone ( no managers around) for 50 minutes, while we made our poor cab driver wait! I was furious and threatned to leave. He HAD our credit card #, it wasn't our fault the machines weren't working, and we HAD to catch our flight. He didn't care. Finally after 50 minutes, showing our Passports like we are criminals, etc....he got a TON of info on it and let us go and will charge us later. I will be reporting this incident to the Management, as this was unacceptable. It left a bad taste in our mouth with Palace Resorts.

Don't let the resorts on either side of Beach Palace tell you that you can't go on the federally owned beach!

The large pool was still not useable during spring break period. By the last day it looked like the pool would be open the following week. Not sure why this resort took so long to redo this pool, but this was a real let down for our teenagers. The other 4 small pools are filled with small children. These pools were the same size as a small pool that you would have in your own home. If you want a beach forget this resort because they don't have one. The resorts on either side will tell you that you can't use the beach infront of their resort and they will keep bothering you the entire time you are there. The Beach Palace Manager took the resorts side and insisted that we respect the resort next door even though the sign clearly states that the beach belongs to the Federal Government. I told the resort and the person in charge at the Beach Palace to blank "......" and took the lounger and stayed on the beach regardless. Nobody could do anything because I was in the right. We weren't the only ones to complain about the beach situation. Many people put their heads down and walked back to their resort looking totally depressed. I had contacted the Beach Palace Resort directly prior to me booking accomodations at this resort to ask about the beach situation and I was told that the beach could be used on either side of the resort since the resort named BEACH PALACE had no beach. I was also told that the pool would be up and running but it wasn't. I am a palace member and when you pay money to belong to a resort you expect to receive ocean front. I called the resort to confirm ocean front and that we were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and that he was extremely burnt out after opening another store, working 7 days a week. I wanted this vacation to be perfect and relaxing for him, unfortunately once a member the good rooms go to those who have not purchased a membership yet. When we arrived we got a room facing the busy street and it was on the 12th floor, right under the two bars above. The room had a funny smell due to the two pools above it. My husband and I told them to book us an ocean front room at another resort and within a 3 hours we had an ocean front room at Beach Palace. Funny thing, when we arrived there were none but they managed to give us one. If you get the lagoon side you will be disappointed. If you wanted to hear traffic noise then just stay home. Another issue we had was with our Spa card. For some reason they cancelled it last trip when we went to Moon Palace and it took them a few days to sort that out. The food at this resort was ok. I don't recommend the Italian Restaurant, however the other restaurants were ok. If your kids or teenagers enjoy helping themselves while enjoying the pools, they have to order something from the bar since there are no open restaurants outside. The inside of the hotel has high ceilings and the rooms are larger than most hotels we've stayed in. You can easily put a another bed in this room. The water is beautiful, light blue and the sand is while. Compared to Moon Palace, if you want blue water that you can jump in the waves, the hotel zone is perfect. Moon Palace has too much seaweed and you can't really swim there but it has many large pools. The staff at this hotel are very helpful, but their english isn't as good as it is at the other hotels we stayed at. Thank God for the two pool tables because there were only two shows while we were there. There is a beautiful mall close by that has hand made canels, star bucks, etc. You will love this place, Islas Mall I think it was called. Would we stay at Beach Palace again, absolutely Not. It was the worst vacation we ever had. I don't want to be bothered when I am trying to relax on the beach. I forgot to mention that the hotel next to us used whistel to get use out of the water the first time so that we could remove our belongings and place it on the 5 x 10 ft of sand infront of our hotel. Ok, something more positive, the spa services were fantastic. The estheticians that work there are very professional and I loved the spa. We also did the Jungle Tour which I highly recommend.

We stayed at the Beach Palace from March 12-20 and had a wonderful time. We were greeted with a cool towel and drink upon arrival. Our room was ready within an hour.

Rooms: We were on the 6th floor overlooking the ocean. The rooms are very large and comfortable. My only complaint with the room is the shower door. It does not close and the water will leak onto the floor. On the second day we move the shower head towards the wall and this helped quite a bit.

Food & Drinks: There are 4 different restaurants, Japenese, Italian, The steakhouse and the Mexican Buffet. We tried them all and the least favourite for us was the Steakhouse. We ordered rib eyes and although the taste was good, the steaks were all grissle. Our favourite was the Italian. Great variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available. Staff around pool were always coming by asking for your order.

Pool: When we arrived we were notified that the main pool was not open due to re-tiling. This was great news to hear upon our arrival. They were shutting the guests over to the Cancun Palace to use their pool. We went up to the pool area on the roof top and loved it. We decided to stay on site and enjoy the sky pool and bar. It was so quiet that we had the whole place to ouselves most of the day.

Entertainment: This was a disappointment for us. The best show of the entire week was the Fire Show. This is on Thursday nights and it is a must to see. The only other show was Mexican and it was okay. For the other nights they did not have any entertainment outdoors except for a movie night.

Staff: This was the best part of our entire trip. These poeple work so hard. By the third day many of the staff knew us all by name. I have travelled many times to the Carribean and I must say this is the best staff I have ever encountered. We did bring dollar bills and glady gave them out. Some of the staff only make $5.00 per day and they certainly deserved a dollar or two.

Overall: This is our second experience with Palace Resorts and are now considering buying a membership. If you decide to try this place out you won't be disappointed.

We stayed at the Beach Palace in Feb. 2009 and we were quite pleasantly surprised. I read a lot of reviews and was not sure what we were going to find when we went there.
The best surprise was there is a beach. It is not a HUGE beach, but it is just fine. The one day that we did spend all day at the beach, a hotel staff member brought us lounger chairs to lay on and we had the best day of the whole trip. There is plenty of room for the kids to play in the sand, my boys built a sand castle. The waves were terrific. We body surfed and had a great time being served drinks and food right on the beach. There was guys trying to sell their jewelery, cigars, shells, but they don't bug you too much. The food in the restaurants is just okay. We liked the Italian place the best. The Asain place was the worst. We didn't try the outside restaurant. The Mexican buffet is just okay. I guess what you would expect from a buffet. The one benefit from this is that I didn't over eat and gain a bunch of weight on the trip. We requested an Ocean View room and didn't get it, but I was already prepared for that from what the reviews I had read. I decided that I wasn't going to get all bent out of shape over it. The lagoon view is beautiful also. Actually, my husband and I decided that we liked it better because it was all lit up at night and the ocean side was dark and you really couldn't see anything anyways. The rooms were very clean and nice. The toilets had problems. We had to have someone unplug it once. The safe had problems. We had to have someone help us unlock it twice. The service though is VERY fast and friendly. We had friends of our buy a day pass one of the days. My advice to you is buy it early. They almost didn't let our friends buy them because they said that they were already at capacity. Something they didn't tell us when we called about it before we left for the trip. So ask about that when you get there if you are planning on having friends come to visit. The pass is $87.00 a day or so per person. That gets them all the food, drink, use of facility, and entertainment. One thing I was disappointed in was the kids club. It didn't seem like they did anything with the kids. My boys didn't use it once. It closes at 5:00pm, which I think is stupid. It should be open until late at night so parents can go out on the town. The service is great. I didn't feel like I got to know any of them though like other review said. However, we really didn't spend all day there except for that one day on the beach. If I had to do it again, I would skip some of the excursions and spend more time at the beach. We were not impressed with there conciere service in planning there free excursions. We were there for 2 days before someone called us and wanted to talk to us about booking an excursion. By then we already had our week planned. We didn't take any of there excursions. I also didn't really want to talk about buying into there hotel. So we just ignored the calls from them. I recommend going to Xel-ha. We had a wonderful time. There is a lot to do there. We swam with the dolphins and that ate up a lot of our time and if I had to have paid full price for it I would have probably been disappointed. Don't get me wrong it was fun, but we could have had just as much fun doing other stuff there. We felt kind of rushed the whole rest of the day because there were things that we wanted to do there and just not enough time. We also went on the Extreme Zipline tour through Selvatica. It was a lot of fun. My boys and I went upside down and that definately was a rush. The lunch they served was Yummy! I also highly recommend going to Perico's for dinner. They have so much entertainment you wouldn't believe it. My son said it was the most fun restaurant he has ever been to. I wish they had something like that in the States. Go in the evening though because that is when all the action happens. We took the bus. It is quite a ways, so ask your hotel for directions in how to get there. Also, you can ask the bus driver and he should know where you want to get off. But you should ask the hotel first. Anyways, all in all we had a great time!

We ended up at the Beach Palace since the Moon Palace was fully booked for Feb.14th. We always stay in a Presidential Suite. I love the Moon Palace and did not want to stay anywhere else but I'm glad we did. The Beach Palace was all updated and looked brand new. The service was impeccable. The restaurants were good. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet with the on-site cook. Every afternoon we would go to the upper level sky bar for the sunset & drinks and enjoyed the upstairs bar with snacks. Yes-the beach front area was very small--but you could still walk on the beach if you wanted. We were very impressed with everything. My only complaint was the jacuzzi tub in the middle of the living room. I could never use it since we traveled with another family with two kids. The vanity area also opened to the living room area so you had to be always clothed properly. It was a big inconvenience. The balcony was fabulous. Wonderful views of the ocean with comfortable lounging chairs. We all had a great time.
