What can I say, we had a fantastic time. This had to be the longest vacation I had in a long time (7 days) and it was the best. Of course, you loose the first and last day to travel, but every day in between was terrific. I traveled with my teenage daughter and we both enjoyed everything. Check in was great, we were friends of members so we weren't treated like the average guest. We had everything explained to us about the resort and felt very special.
We had a "pool level" room, so we didn't have a view of the ocean, but you could certainly hear it. We had a few days, where house keeping forgot about us, but they came within 5 minutes of my call. It was a bit inconvenient after being out all day, hot and sweaty and just looking for a shower, and we had to wait on the patio for them to finish. Room was a great size for two and the hot tub was a nice touch, but not very necessary. Very well appointed and nicely decorated.
The food was great. We tried all the restaurants and did the buffet more than once. Everything was fresh. We were a bit disappointed in the Mexican restaurant being a bit fancy, food wise. We just wanted some down home authentic food, but I felt they were trying to be 5 star and that wasn't necessary. My daughter was very impressed with the Italian restaurant and the intermetzo between courses. She felt very grown up.
They were celebrating the Palace's 25th anniversary so there was a party at the pool area one night. Full buffet, entertainment and it was very nice.
The early evening entertainment was very nice but after the shows, there wasn't much else to do except hang at the bar. If you're not a big drinker, that's kind of boring.
We did travel to the Moon Palace for one day and hung out at the pool. It was huge and we appreciated our moderate size resort. We didn't get around to the other resorts, Beach and Sun, but we were not unhappy we didn't. We would stay at Cancun again for sure, even having not see the others, except Moon.
The tours being included in the trip price was great. You could do as many as you like or as little. I think we were lucky we just got ours in before the real scare for the swine flu hit. You really have to take the boat to Isle Mujeres - it was so much fun. Be prepared for extra cost tours when you get there or you can just hang out at the beach for the day.
Wet and Wild was so so, a bit disapointing compared to some of the places in the US we have been to, but we went primarily for the Dolphin Swin. (You can see that's where they put all their money) I doubt if many locals go here since the price was a bit steep.
The service was fantastic and everyone was very friendly and helpful. There wasn't anything they weren't willing to help you with. Although tipping was included in our "all inclusive" price, I strongly suggest you bring lots of US dollars for some additional tipping. They go a long way with the service people. They are very appreciative of the extra tips and remember you when you do.
For the money, this was a great vacation and we will definitely do it again in the future. This stay will spoil us for future trips I'm sure.
