Okay this is my 7th trip to the Cancun area and I always blew off going to Wet'n Wild because of the so-so reviews. But we decided to give it a try and we totally loved it. The little kids swam with the dolphins in the morning then we spent the rest of the day here. If you have younger kids that want to swim with the dolphins that are a little scared of the ocean or lagoon water, then this is a good option. It is an enclosed pool area, so the water is totally clear. Also they have platforms that are pretty shallow, so as long as you are 4 ft you can do the dolphin swim alone. So after we did the swim, we spent the rest of the day at the park. Admittedly there are not a ton of different water rides here, but the ones they have are fun for our kids 8 and 10 years old. My ten year old did the lazy river ride about 20 times. The wave pool was totally fun as well. My younger kid has always been scared of sharks and other sea creatures, so it finally showed her what she has been missing with all the wave actions. The Space bowl ride dumped you out a little hard for the little ones. The tall waterslide was a little intimidating, but the family ride and the one that you rode on with two people were fun for all ages. I think you have to be 46 inches for many of these rides. As far as the food goes, we ate it and it was perfectly fine. I had some nachos, the kids had burgers and fries. They also had fun ice cream for the kids. They enjoyed the all you can eat/drink feature. We certainly go our money's worth for $35. I wouldn't bother with renting the tube for the lazy river. We did rent the locker and they did not charge any deposits on anything. I think this is a lot of entertainment/food/drink for the money and it is so close to Cancun. No 2 hours bus ride and $100 price tag (unless you swim with the dolphins).

I have done Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Garrafon and these are all wonderful experiences..very natural.. Wet'n wild is not very nature oriented but take it for what it is. A fun-filled simple waterpark great for tweener-aged kids. But I have to admit I had a pretty good time as a 40 year old Mom, because the kids we so occupied..the margaritas were free and I kind of liked the lazy river and the wave pool.

Not many things there to do - not that many slides also there are much better places to check out dauphins - these people were very, very rude and not accommodating at all.

As we live in a quite small and pretty cold country (poor us..) we are not used to any huge water theme parks. This one had enough to do for one day for us, and we did not find the food and drinks to be bad in anyway. The place was almost empty the whole day, it seemed like there was more staff there than customers! The staff where very polite and serviceminded, we had a good day.
We did not attempt any dolphin programmes.Only slides, swimming, eating and drinking! : )

QUICK SUMMARY

This is a good park to go to if you've got kids who like waterslides and similar activities (or if you happen to enjoy such). They also feature a very worthwhile dolphin swim-with program, provided by the company Dolphinaris.

The food, however, is horrible. You would be well advised to bring your own.

HEAVY DETAILS

This is another location that suffered severe damage under Hurricane Wilma, and has had to rebuild as a result. The dolphin facilities, in particular, were changed from open-water pens to an enclosed system of pools, much more hurricane-resistant and far safer for the animals.

As a result of this rebuild, the dolphin facilities look really nice. My wife and I did the top-end swim-with package (DSP), and we got a great discount on it ($130 per person vs. $150) by booking through the on-site travel agent at our hotel. I thought so highly of the experience and the facility that I returned on my own a few days later to do the 'Trainer for a Day' program (honestly, the first one I've ever done).

I can say with much confidence that the DSP (Dolphin Swim Program) will appeal to both novices and those who have had past contact with dolphins. Besides the usual structured behaviors (kiss, hug or layout, high-target, etc.) you will also get some free interaction time with the critters. Swimmer-to-dolphin ratio rarely exceeds 3.5:1, and can be lower under light crowds.

The Trainer for a Day program is well worth it if you want to know more about the dolphins, and training them, than can be answered in the time available for a swim-with session. The program puts you and a few others (my group was six large, counting myself) with one of the training staff for the entire day.

You get some classroom time, in which you're introduced to basic dolphin biology and training theory, and you'll also get three in-water sessions with different groups of dolphins where you actually learn how to give them various hand signals to perform their various behaviors (never say 'tricks,' as it's inaccurate and considered rude).

Later in the day, after lunch, you'll get a very thorough tour of the place, including the fish house and (most interesting for me) the veterinary lab. You will be given ample opportunity to ask ANY questions you may have about the animals, their care and feeding, or any other aspect of park operations, and you will receive very detailed and educational answers.

The day ends with a final session with the dolphins, and here is where I learned of the ONLY down-side to the entire program: No free-swim time with the critters! That's the ONLY thing that kept me from bumping the TripAdvisor rating scale for this park up to five dots.

No matter which program you choose, you will receive a complimentary day pass to the rest of the park. If you like waterslides and wave machines, this could be a Fun Thing. Lockers are not included, and will run you about USD $4 with a USD $10 deposit (which you get back when you turn in your key and token).

FOOD WARNING! The alleged food in this park sets a new low for theme park quality (or lack thereof). Stay far, FAR away from the nachos (they made my wife sick for two days!), the alleged pizza is mediocre at best, and the "chicken fingers" were so dry, hard, and overcooked that I think even the grackles would have ignored them.

It would be much safer (and far more healthy) to bring your own food (you can do so). In my case, I had our hotel pack a box lunch for me. I did not regret it!

My only other complaint about this park is its location. It's still close enough to Cancun's hotel zone to have a "city" feel to it. I think, for our next trip, I'm more likely to visit the Cozumel location.

Happy travels.

We decided to swim with dophins at his park. The dolphin experience was very commercialized. There were 30 people in one pool with 6 dolphins, and there were about four pools in all. So there were several people in all at once. And you were limited with what you could do. You each had to take turns with the dolphin which only lasted for about no more than 5 minutes. Also, pictures were so expensive!! For four photos with the dolphin it cost 60$. For 8 pics it was 100$ and so on. Such a rip off! Then once you got in the park, there was nothing to do. There were only three major slides, a tide pool, lazy river, and kiddie section and that was it! I'm glad it was included in our dolphin experience otherwise it was not worth paying for it seperately. If you want to swim with dolphins, swim at Xcaret, although it is for a half an hour, your interaction with the dolphin is much longer!
