“Not Just Another All Inclusive Bar”

Coco Bongo Cancun

The show alone was worth the admission. I thought it was going to be like Senor Frogs or one of the other bars that charges $40+ for open bar. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are wanting to get wasted and pickup members of the opposite sex, this isn't the place for you. The money is for the show!! If you are going with a large crowd, stay close-it is extremely crowded.

“The best club EVER! AMAZING!”

Coco Bongo Cancun

Wow i do not know where to start. I went to Cancun for a total of 4 days, within those 4 days i went to CoCo Bongo twice, it was that amazing. The energy is so intense and everyone around you is having such a great time. The shows are a great touch; they vary from Spiderman (with great techno Sandstorm song), christina aguilera, elvis, matrix, beetlejuice, and many more.

The music is off the hook too. There is a bit of everything. Loved the guns n' roses songs they played back to back, loved red hot chili peppers, loved the techno, the hiphop was great too (hell they even played a nice remix of Lil Wayne's 'Lollipop' which surprised me).

I don't see how people complain about finding it difficult to 'find exits,' i mean it's the only 2 damn hallways bluntly illuminated with red lighting, it's obvious people ;).

The thing i found helpful about the open bar and the servers bringing your drinks is, it helps to stay in relatively the same spot for the nite, therefore it's easier for them to come back, actually find you, and give you the drinks. The girls runnin' around selling shots were a fun too, i loved them. The hypnotiq shots were a bit pricey but there are some girls that roam around selling shots of some margarita-tequila-like mix (very strong tho ;p) at half the price of the hypnotiq. I kept myself taking those ;) after about 1 or 2 everyone is relatively wasted, including yourself, making the experience that much wonderful hehe.

On a side note, i hate writing reviews (i never ever do it), i'm just that lazy and wish not to take the time lol, but i just had to write one on this club, it is absolutely worth every penny.

Next time I go to Cancun I will definitely go the CoCo Bongo again. At least twice per trip, it was nightlife like I've never experienced before. Make your trip worth it, go to the CoCo Bongo people! ;).

“It’s not a CLUB, it's an EXPERIENCE.”

I knew I HAD to go to Coco Bongo after reading all of the reviews. We arrived at Coco before opening and purchased regular (not VIP) open bar $40 tickets inside. I thought it was really unique that waiters were serving drinks while we waited OUTSIDE in line. Yes, it was some mysterious purple drink but eh what the heck. We made our way up the many escalators, which made me expect an ENOURMOUS crazy big club. We finally reached the final floor, and I know they have a show to run and all but I didn’t like that we were being practically “shooed” into the “main” area. Back to my expectations, the main area was not as big as I imagined. I mean it wasn’t small but I envisioned something totally different. I’m not complaining, just speaking my mind. Before going in to the show there was a bar near some restrooms where I wanted to stop by and get a drink, but I was once again shooed away, rejected, SOBER and told to go inside. Once “inside” the show area it was still quite a feat to order a drink. The bar in the back didn’t want to serve us and the square one in the middle was even WORSE. A bartender at the square bar in the very middle asked me if I wanted to dance on the bar, and since I declined he had a snippy attitude. He served me beer in a cup that was leaking, and ignored my boyfriend for about 5 minutes. For the rest of the night I had to get my boyfriend his drinks because he simply wouldn’t get any service. The waitress chicks with the whistles harassing us to take “shots” of Hypnotiq where not to my liking either. With all of this said, would I go back? Yes, and now that I’m done with the rants here is why.

The show alone is worth the cover charge and is unlike anything I have ever seen before. Especially at a club. The mix of music is interesting (it goes from Elvis to Britney) but they make it work. I was afraid of the tip harassment issue I read about in previous reviews, but I never felt that vibe. As the night progressed we were able to finally order drinks from the back bar and the bartender was awesome. He remembered what I was drinking each return trip to the bar. On one occasion I turned around and without even asking he was ready with my drink in hand. The crowd is very lively and there was NEVER a dull moment.

I don’t remember if it was a nightmare trying to exit, quite frankly I took the open bar opportunity a little out of hand. As a matter of fact, I was left wondering if after all of the acts are over, is there a DJ? I guess upon returning to Cancun, I can visit Coco Bongo and find out.

On June 13, 2008 my wife and I, along with my best friend and his wife, were celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary in Cancun. We decided to go Coco Bongo and it was awesome!!!
We were able to get in about 11:00 pm and purchased the $50.00 open bar ticket. We went upstairs and were able to find a good spot along the rail by the DJ booth. A waiter took our drink order and shortly after he returned with “grown folks” drinks. These were not your average watered down drinks, they had kick. We showed our appreciation and gave him small tip. Half way through our first round he returned to check on us. We gave him the thumbs up and he left. Just as we were finishing our first round he returned with our second round, without being asked. Again we gave him a small tip. Over next four hours this guy was the best, the only thing we had to move for was to go to the restroom. He keep the drinks coming without being asked. He mixed it up with drinks, shoots and bottled water. The bottled water was very impressive. He took the lady’s on stage to be apart of one of the shows. About 3:00 am we thank the waiter for his great service and making our anniversary “off the hook” and we left.

My fiance and I were enjoying the show from our VIP balcony most of the night. We decided to leave the club around 1:30, far earlier than the other customers that night. What happened once we tried to leave was traumatic, horrifying, and similar to nightmares I have had in the past.
We spent 30+ minutes trying to find the exit. Over the course of that time, we probably asked at least 10 different employees where the exit was. The ones on the left of the building told us the exit was all the way on the other side. The employees we asked on the right side of the building pointed to the far left side for the exit. It was as if they were playing some kind of joke on us. Finally someone pointed us towards a green door that was guarded by an employee who controlled a small masterlock over the door. When we asked to exit, he said the door was for employees only. He even allowed employees to exit in front of our face, only to lock the door again when we tried to leave. This door was clearly the intended exit as it led to directly into the shopping mall. We then asked him where, if not the door he was guarding, was the exit. He laughed and pointed to the opposite side of the building. We turned around to a crowd of 2,000+people, and after 10 minutes, we failed to cover more than 10 feet amongst the over-capacity crowd. People began to push, shove, and grab. It had now been 30 minutes, and no one would let us out of the building. It reminded me of a sceen from the movie Hostel (some building lures foreign tourists, only to trap them in, play mind games with them and ultimately murder or rob them). I finally escalated to swearing at the manager, who also pointed me to the door with the guard and master lock. I asked him "if that is the exit, then walk us there, because your employee will not let us out. He has the door locked!" He smirked and shook his head, as if this was expected. Several other couples were at the locked door asking to leave, however they clearly were not as far along in the journey as we were. The manager looked around to make sure no one was looking, only to lead us to a small "emergency exit" that led us down 5 flights of stairs to the dumpster, and we were finally out.

I have never had such a traumatic experience in a club in my life. There is nothing like be trapped in a building that is over capacity in a foreign country where managers and police officers have other interests. I would never go to this club again, it makes me wonder how the other 2,000 were able to get out. I would not recommend this club, unless you want all your worst nightmares to come true.
