We have stayed at the Meridian 3 timea always with an exceptional poolside room,incredible sheet and towel turnovers,midday surprise fruit, and a first name basis witht the pool staff. A complaint to us is unbelievable!. There is a phenomenal local market right down the drive (to the right) that serves authentic Mexican breakfast , lunch and all day and night tacos($1.00 a piece)DELICIOUS! You cannot find this little piece at any other hotel without getting on the bus! This hotels gym and spa are TOP notch !!!!!

We took our family (three kids) over Christmas 2004 and had a great time. We had never been to Cancun before and didn't really know what to expect. Le Meridien was lovely, extremely clean, and the service was exceptional. We had a small snafu at check-in because I had specifically requested we have rooms that connected (which is something they publicize that they offer) but instead they gave us rooms that were next to each other. They were unable to change this until the second night. Possible language barrier between "connecting" rooms and "adjoining" rooms. We got it straightened out and were re-assigned room with a much better view. The food in the hotel was excellent - great breakfast buffet, had lunch brought to our pool chairs every day, did not have dinner at the restaurant. Fantastic room service. They called to tell us they were running 5 minutes late! Concierge's recommendations were right on. Pools were great. Beautiful beach with waiter service. Everything was expensive.

Only real fault I can find is that the hallways outside the rooms are all marble and very loud. You could hear doors opening and closing and people talking which woke my toddler up from her nap a few times. Also, I would have liked a balcony that was right on the beach, instead the side of the balcony faces the beach. All balconies are like this unless you have one of the Suites (I believe there are only 5) or the Penthouse.

We had a great time and I would highly recommend this hotel to either famililes or couples.

I went to the Meridien Cancun a few years ago for a spa vacation and it was wonderful--first class all the way. The second time I took my husband, who is not a Mexico beach fan, and were we disappointed. First, I booked a pool view room-- I know the hotel, and I know where views are. When we arrived, they had given us a room overlookiung a vacant lot. When I told the front desk, they made a big deal over finding a different room with a pool view. They finally located one, a step down in terms of type of room, which was ok with us. The front desk told us that our travel agency would handle the differenc in price for us when we returned to the states. Fine. Next, the pool area does not have the same ambiance as before--the music is rock, loud and teeny bopper. Last time is was smooth jazz ( this is a predominately adult hotel,). I mentioned this to a manager and he being French, just basically said "tough, that's what people want to hear". When I suggested possilby mixing in some jazz they said they had no control over the music. Oh. Finally, when I got back to the states I did contact my travel agent about the room descrepancy, she contacted Le Meridien and they refused to give me the difference. I even emailed and explained the situation, and they didn't bother to e mail back. This went on for a month or so, and they refused to honor what they said should be "no problem." It's too bad that a luxury hotel chain like Le Meridien has to stoop to such cheapness, non-customer friendly service. An too bad I will not go there again, it's a beautiful property.

I was just there this Christmas. I went with my husband and two children 4 and 10. My parents met us and stayed at Le Meredien as well. Overall had a great time. Gorgeous hotel, pool and beach. Staff was very attentive. Try to get a package that includes the buffet breakfast. It's kind of pricey $30/person. But great food and wonderful views inside outdoor sunroom. Heated pool is great in December. Best restaurant in Cancun within walking distance Puerto Madero. Make reservations it fills up fast. Room service and restaurants in and out of hotel were expensive but I think that's true of everywhere in Cancun.
