We had a wonderful time at the Le Meridien! We are what some people would call "hotel snobs" and we truly had nothing to complain about at this hotel. First of all, the rate was fantastic. I am not sure if it was because of the Swine Flu scare or it being the off season, but we got a great deal off the Starwood website. When looking into hotels, the Le Meridien was actually significantly cheaper than the Westin Cancun resort and spa and I think it is probably a nicer hotel and in a better location.

The hotel was great for the low key, relaxing experience we were looking for. It is NOT a spring break type of hotel. Sure, you can stay here and then take the bus down to the bars but don't expect a lively night scene at the hotel. This was perfect for us. We saw mostly couples, families and groups of friends. Nothing too crazy going on! If you want the craziness it is so cheap and easy to take the bus down to all of the bars and restaurants in the hotel zone.

The room was very nice. We had a king oceanview with a gorgeous view of the pools and ocean. The bathroom was awesome- separate shower and tub. No, the beds are not heavenly beds but we had no trouble sleeping in them! The balcony was great also.

The pools are gorgeous and we had no problems finding chairs and umbrellas. We have stayed at other resorts in Mexico where it is nearly impossible to sit in the shade but we had no trouble here. The pool attendants are friendly and helpful- they bring towels down for you, set up your chair, open your umbrella, etc. In fact, all of the staff at the hotel is extremely helpful and friendly. You really are treated like royalty. The beach was beautiful. Nice, soft sand and the water is that beautiful torquoise color. The waves are fun and not that rough though I am not sure if our toddler would have been able to go into the water if we brought him with us...

The food at the hotel was SO reasonably priced. We had breakfast in the restaurant most days (we didn't do the buffet b/c we didn't eat that much) and lunch by the pool. Pool service was great. Even the drinks weren't overpriced. The food and drinks at this resort were significantly cheaper than many other places we have visited. Our last morning there we got breakfast in our room. They brought the food in and set it up on a table for us right near our balcony so we could look out at the ocean while we are, and the whole meal (we got eggs, coffee, juice, fruit, bread, etc) was only 35 bucks! For dinner most nights we took the bus to various restaurants in the hotel zone. Definitely try out Thai (that is the name of the restaurant) for a truly memorable dinner experience!

We had a heavenly time at the Le Meridien and would definitely come back. We would like to plan a family trip there next year. They do have a kids club that looked like a lot of fun and we noticed that they have a kids menu at the restaurant as well, which is nice. All in all, we had a fantastic experience in Cancun and at the Le Meridien!

I have to say that being as selective as we can be, this place always amazes us. The facility, the beautiful white-sand beaches, breath-taking turquoise waters, great food, but most importantly the staff keeps us coming back every year.

Yeah, yeah..some think that Cancun is only a place for young springbrakers, but they should reconsider. However, you MUST choose the right hotel or else, your experience will be challenged.

While the name in the US is not as well know as other Starwood brands, Le Meridien in Cancun is highly recommendable. We always bring our young kids with us and they have a blast every time. The hotel provides kid-sitting in their Penguin Club which lets us enjoy the gym, the pool and a few margaritas while they are kept well entertained.

This was my third trip to this hotel in Cancun over the last 10 years. It is still a well run establishment and consistenly provides a very good experience for my visits. I am a 45 yr old professional male and enjoy nice hotels whenever I get the chance to travel. The Meridian is a nice hotel. The grounds and pool are fantastic if you like tropical plants and very nice pools to lounge in and around. Restaurant service at the pool is very well done and prices are reasonable. It is true that there is a hotel being built right next door to the south. Would I prefer that it not be built - absolutely - but it does not rob the Meridian from being a nice well run hotel. Fitness Center is very nice as well.

I traveled to this Starwood property for a wedding which was held on the premises. It is a couple miles from the main tourist zone in Cancun, which is nice in that it's generally quiet. But you can just hop onto a bus for less than a dollar to reach the shopping and nightlife. It's recessed from the main drag and has a nice stretch of beach, albeit a bit narrow. Only bad thing about the location is the construction site that will become a future resort next door. Rooms are very nicely appointed with marble floors, bathroom, nice linens, and morning AND evening turndown service. Breakfast buffet is a reasonable price for the food on offer, the bar serves some fantastic tropical cocktails, the 3 saline pools are pretty nice, and there are two tennis courts. Staff was very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to recommend places to go, etc. Only complaints are that the air conditioning did not remove the tropical humidity from the air, so the room felt very damp but still comfortable. Other than that, a great Starwood property. Overall, I'd recommend this property.

We just got back from a weeks stay at Le Meridien. As SPG members we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite with two balconies. The front desk manager was very helpful and polite. The pool attendant, Juan, was always there to put towels on chairs and in cabanas. He also came around with shots of smoothies, fresh cut fruit, and cold towels during the day. The snack bar at the pool had delicious food(especially the quesadillas) and very attentive waiters. The beach is small but the waves are great fun. The three pools are beautiful and the construction next door does not shade any part of the pool area(as some other reviewers mentioned) at any time of the day.
The maids came around twice daily to clean the rooms, give fresh towels, replenish toiletries, and in the evenings for turn down service.
The spa is state of the art (although the cooler could be turned up a little more).
We went snorkeling with "Reef Experience" booked for us by the hotel travel agent, Hugo, who was very helpful. Our party of five were the only ones on the snorkeling tour. We were picked up at the hotel in a van. They took us to Puerto Morelos to board a small boat and we went to two different snorkeling spots on the reef. Each time we were in the water for about 50 minutes. The guides were great. They pointed out lobsters, sting rays, and other sea creatures that may have been hiding. They then took us to a little beachside hotel where we were given a buffet lunch with drinks (all included in the $65 price). We returned back to our hotel around 5 pm.
Over all I would highly recommend Le Meridien and can't wait to go back. This was my fourth time in Cancun and the first time I have stayed at this hotel. On my other trips I had stayed at Fiesta Americana Coral Beach. From now on I will only stay at Le Meridien.
