I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The rooms and facilities are quite old, and there are major problems with lack of water pressure and hot water. However, we did get a room upgrade after we complained about the dank and dim first room that they showed us. At first the front desk person was belligerent, but he did upgrade us to a nicer room and we tipped him $20 for his troubles. The upgraded room was definitely nicer, with a view and an outdoor hot tub which didn't work (took about 3 hours to fill it up, probably had a leak, and the jets didn't work). The view was beautiful, though - nice pool area and view of the tiny beach that is in front of the hotel. This is a nice older hotel for the price (vs the other crazy ones on the strip) - an added plus is that you can use the Avalon Reef facilities at Isla Mujeres
