The front desk people could have been more helpful if I could speak more spanish. The people behind the desk tried to be helpful. The pool was small but nice. The water was too cold to swim in. The grounds where very nice and clean with wild birds roaming around. The biggest complaint is how plain and old the rooms are. It was mostly clean, beds where ok, hot water, cold air, blow dryer, color TV and remote. Just a basic hotel. NO free Continental breakfast. There is a lobby bar, sports bar and dinning area. Small pool and it is 3 floors high. There was a McDonalds just across the street that suit me fine for coffee!! Lots of vendors and places to eat around there. About two blocks either way there are many mexican restuarnts and the food was good. The hotel sits close to Tulum Ave that run up and down within downtown and easy access to many places. The bus station was right across from the front of the hotel entrance which looked odd. Because of the bus station it was always busy with people around. Also, there is a beauty shop and plenty of exchange booths outside or near the hotel. I made my phone calls to the US from the phone and internet stores located all around the hotel. Phone call Cost $1.25 for about 5 minutes and the internet access with their computers was cheap, but I didn't use them.
The downtown flee market is just 3 - 4 blocks down the way with plenty of shops on both sides of the street while walking there. Great area for shoppers.
The plus about this hotel is how easy it is to get around by bus or taxi. Catching the bus to the hotel zone was easy and cheap, about .60 USD and to the airport it was $1.40 USD and they leave every half hour. That was great for coming and going to the airport. Overall, I would stay here if it was just a few nights, which I did and that is about all. I wouldn't vacation here unless I was a spring breaker looking to do Cancun on the cheap. I saved money here and spent the money saved on the night clubs.
