We booked a room at the BW Clipper Club for a single night as we waited for a room to open on Isla Mujeres. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hotel coordinator who asked how long we were staying and what we wanted to see. Since we wanted to go south to see ruins, they arranged a rental car for us and had them come pick us up (very reasonable deal, too). Our room was fantastic. It is not a plush, soft Hilton room, but exactly what you'd expect from a tropical hotel from an old movie (in a good way). The room was clean and comfortable, if a little spartan. The kitchenette had a fridge and microwave and coffee maker, was very clean and neat. Also had a large table that could be used to have friends over if traveling with others. The rooms have whitewashed walls with some tropical artwork. The bedroom and kitchen are separated by shutters that open up so the wind and the light goes throughout. One side of the room looked out to the lagoon between the hotel zone and mainland and the other out to the city.
As far as location, I think it was perfect. It is off the street far enough that the noise from the clubs and bars is non-existent. It also sits on it's own peninsula into the lagoon giving it a secluded feel. However, just across the parking lot is the main street where there is shopping, bars and excellent places to eat.
I would highly recommend the Clipper Club to anyone as a very well priced location with good service and a great feel.
