We have been going to the clipper club for about 20 years now...every year we stay a week longer!
Its our home away from home.
The staff is perfect.

I was amazed at how cozy this place was. It has an "at-home" feeling. It feels more like your visiting a friends house more than a hotel. If your looking for the hotel-experience, like Las Vegas, this is not it. This is like mi-casa es tu-casa, it has a kitchen living room/suite, and a bedroom.

We got the one-bedroom suite, don't expect a 5-star suite, just a simple bathtub/jacuzzi, another room with a stand-up shower, and sofa-beds. Its basically a place to sleep and go out. You won't be hanging out in your room for hours, doesn't have that plush feeling.

The staff is by far the best, the reception is excellent. Anything you need is there right away. Everyone is super friendly and they get to know you on a first-name basis. They are good with remembering you even after you leave the club. I called back a few days after I had left and the receptionist knew my name just by my voice. Felt good to be known that way.

One thing is that they try to sell you the timeshare/membership. They really want you to make the decision on the spot. Its not that your getting cheated or anything, its just that they want to guarantee your business for the next 10 years. You get a good deal but your committed for the next 10 years. Sylvia is the one that pushes those sales, nice lady but still a salesperson.

Alfredo is the best at the front desk, as well as other nice staff members such as Oscar and Antonio to name just a few. Ray's restaurant cooks some good food at the best prices in town. Gym isn't all that good, pool is wonderful nicely heated, location is perfect, close to everything.

feel free to reply to me and I can give details.

4 mates and i (all 24years old) have returned back from a 2 week stay at the clipper club hotel(we were first placed in the cancun marina club!! read review about that place do not go there!!).
We were on a budget and this place was exactly what we needed. Clean, good air conditioning, nice pool, good atmosphere.

It is well placed in the heart of the main bars and clubs, but is just well placed to not be noisy which is a bonus too. Other hotels we were told that they were strict on people late night swimming etc. but the clipper club made sure our fun wasnt ruined and as long as behaviour and noise was minimal the fun wasnt ruined.

I would recommend this place, some people who would like to be pampered and want all inclusive packages should try somewhere else but for us this was exactly what we needed.

If anybody wants to know any more about the place or wants any recommendations about places to go and eat, i would do so no worries via email.

We go every year - usually in late January. It's not the Four Seasons - don't come with those kind of expectations. It's quaint, quiet, close to everything, and it's clean. Small, villa style, feels like you're actually in Mexico, rather than some overly Americanized big hotel. Amazing location, in the heart of everything, yet off-the-beaten-path, tucked away on a little road where you feel completely secluded. We meet relatives there for a mini family reunion every year. We bring all the kids and they love it there. The staff is wonderful and we've gotten to know them. It feels like our home away from home. Beach is a short walk across the street.

Suggestions: The on-site restaurant has great food, and nightly specials (with drinks included for one price), but that can add up for a whole week. We keep it cheap for our family by taking a taxi to Walmart at the beginning of the week to buy breakfast/lunch/beverages & of course alcohol. We go out for dinner each night, either there or out on the town. Suggestions for restaurants in & around town....The Shrimp bucket, Perricos, Iguana Wana, and a little burrito place - Gordita Blue. We've never gotten sick from the tap water, but a precaution would be to ask the front desk to send a 5 gallon bottle for drinking to get you through the week with coffee, etc.

Ive just come back from the Best Western in Cancun and have to say it was a great place to stay.

It is basic self catering accommodation, very clean, friendly staff, and a good sized pool with pool bar (and happy hour!).

The location is fantastic for all the bars and restaurants, yet quiet as it is set back from the main street over the lagoon (with excellent views).

The beach, shops and bus stops all within 2 mintues walk.... would definatley recommend this hotel for people who want budget accommodation :)
