I flew down to Cancun with my son because of very low promotional airfares on Continental. Neither of us had ever been to Mexico, and I decided to take him there for one night for his birthday dinner.

I chose the Radisson because of its name and rather low price. I didn't mind the distance from the beach because we were not staying long enough to swim, anyway. We rented a car for our brief stay, both for airport access and brief exploration of the area.

The hotel staff were all very friendly, helpful, and eager to please. We did not eat at the hotel but went for his dinner to a restaurant that was suggested by several members of the staff. There is an area less than a mile away that has many reasonably-priced Mexican restauants.

The hotel needs MUCH BETTER soundproofing; the floors in all the rooms are tiled, and are very thin. I was kept awake for almost two hours by a small party in the room above, as the women were walking on high-heels, and the rat-tat-tat was unending. I finally called the desk at 1 AM and asked for another room. They quickly allowed us to move to another room some distance away, and the second room was much better. Beds were very firm but not uncomfortable.

The hotel has a nice little gift shop with reasonable prices for little touristy souvenirs. Again, the staff were all very friendly; the rooms were a bit older but all right, and the location is good!

The hotel is near the city centre: all the facilities are in a walking distance and you can have a taste of how Mexicans really are.
The hotel zone where you can find clubs and more night life, however is a few kilometers away: you can get there by bus or taxi.
The hotel lobby is nice and cosy, the swimming pool clean and big enough to enjoy a bath even if it is not huge.
There is also a shop whose prices are acceptable and free wireless internet is great. We didn't use other hotel facilities because we had no time.
The rooms are spacious and clean. there is a tv with plenty of tv channels a wide desk, a private safe.

I stayed in the Radisson Hacienda for three nights in October 2008. It is downtown-no need to take taxis as there are restaurants, shops, etc. right outside. Buses also stop outside the hotel.

The room had a TV with cable, fridge, coffee maker, work desk and wired internet access. There was also iron and board and a digital safe. There was a tiny enclosed "patio" but no fresh air balcony.

The bathroom had robes and towels (but were not luxurious by any means), hairdryer and standard guest amenities, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shaving kit.

Room service was prompt, filling, and reasonablely priced. Dinner in the restaurant was also fine. There is a small lobby bar, that seemed to always have a small crowd. The reception and restaurant were pleasant.

I would recomned this hotel to business travelers and travelers on a budget who want to go exploring the area and not sit by the pool all day.

This was a decent hotel in downtown Cancun. We stayed here for 2 seperate nights before and after an overnight stay at Chichen itza. For that purpose it was great and the price was right. Unfortunately the first room (and actually the restaurant) smelled quite musty. The second room did not have this problem and was much nicer. On this night, however, there was a lot of noise above us that sounded like construction or moving furniture at 11 pm. We called to complain and the noise stopped immediately, but started up again at 2 am. It woke us up and we had to call again. On the positive side the room was clean and the concierge was extremely helpful. The location, in downtown Cancun, is okay if you are not looking for access to beaches. Like a previous reviewer, we also had a lot of trouble finding the hotel from the ADO bus station.
