staff were nice. around the corner were great little shops for lunch or breakfast. one had yummy toasted croissant sandwiches, another great shrimp tacos, and another for cheap cheap breakfasts. which is good cause the kitchenette didn't really work for us. i brought our own egg flipper, read another review that said not much in utensils, but never used it. also went to walmart our first day so we could buy a coffee maker. so, there is a small fridge and a microwave and a two burner hotplate. and lots of tiny bugs. really small ones. they were on the wall behind the headboards of the beds, they were everywhere. we kept our glasses in the freezer, kept them bug free and chilled. you get what you pay for. across the main street is a golf course and then some homes and then the beach. but there is no beach access. so you walk ten minutes and come to the beach, then you can walk ten minutes back on the beach and we found a nice secluded piece of beach. we took public bus for our transportation into town, mostly walked to the hotel zone. nice little public beach there as well.

We had planned to stay at the Imperial Laguna for one day at the start of our vacation and one day at the end of our vacation.

Our first stay was great. We got there in the afternoon and check in was a breeze. Service was great and our two rooms were in good shape. We had no complaints, especially for the price and for the location. It was a little bit of a hike to the heart of the hotel zone action but it could easily be done. There are also a few small places to grab a good breakfast in the morning.

On the last night of our stay, we showed up around 7pm and they had changed our reservation to the Imperial Las Perlas (feel free to read my review there). We were disappointed but didnt argue the fact that someone had obviously overbooked or made some reservation mistakes. They also told us as we left the Imperial Laguna that we would be well taken care of at the Imperial Las Perlas. We were clearly not taken care of.

With that being said, check in early at the Laguna and you will have a great stay.

I miss Cancun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive just returned from this hotel and it is fine. Yes it is run down but there is a comfy bed (hard matress but i like that) hot water and it is quiet.

Its a 2 and a half star what were people expecting? We had no problems except my GHDs didnt work!! arrh! so had to go to Walmart to get new ones with less voltage. But apart from that it was fine. The staff are nice will do anything for you, i think we [-] them off at the end as we were partying a bit to loudly.

The resturant in the hotel has brilliant food and is not too expencive, we even got them to bring drinks up to our room.

Use the bus always never taxis they rip you off. There is a cheap supermarket just round the courner of this hotel aswell as a good sandwich shop.

The view over the lagoon is lovely and the location is excellent as you are just far enough away from the noise from the nightclubs and close enought to walk to them. Beaches a beautiful get on the bus to any of the public beaches or you can walk to one that is near.

I would stay here again but next time i am going all inclusive the average meal out there for 2 is about 30£ so not that much cheaper than home.

“Imperial laguna”

Imperial Laguna Hotel

My family traveled to cancun for spring break last year and had planned to stay at the riu palace until we found cheaper airlines to leave a day early. Unfortunately the riu was booked and after seeing the pics of the hotel, we decided to stay there. We arrived in cancuun in the late afternoon and we got a taxi to the riu for free. We tried to book one more time before getting a taxi to go to the laguna. When we got into the taxi, the driver laughed at us and told us it was a big difference. We got there and went to our 2 rooms. when we tried the first room the key card wouldn't work. we got to the second 1 opened the door and it smelled like a public restroom. We immediately complained and were upgraded to a "suit". The only difference between the 2 rooms was that the suit had 3 beds. We still needed another room and found 1 with only a smoke smell. That night there was yelling and you could hear the night clubs across the lagune. I woke up to find my son had not slept either and we left at 5:30 to check in to the riu. I will never stay here a night in my life. Please don't stay here!

We stayed at Imperial Laguna for one night before moving onto the Cancun Palace - we came in around midnight that night and didn't want to waste the all-inclusive for that day. I was actually very scared to go there after reading reviews (after we booked the hotel). I had read that it was in a crack den - I have no idea where that came from - the hotel is located on a nice residential street- with above average homes surrounding the hotel and relatively pricey cars. On the lagoon side there are several expensive boats docked at the hotel, so it clearly is not a crack den. I also read that the hotel was noisy and that people could be seen throwing up in the hallways. While we were there we only saw a few other families, and it was not noisy.

The hotel grounds are very nice and quaint. They have landscaped it with a bunch of ferns, flowers and trees, so it looks really nice in the courtyard. The pool is a good size, and by the lagoon they have a restaurant that serves food/drinks. The pina colada was excellent!!

The rooms, on the other hand, are another story. If we had been staying in the room for more than the 8 hours or so that we did, I would not have been happy. Maybe some of the other rooms are nicer, I don't know, but we immediately took the bedspread off - it looked really old. The bathroom had a musty smell, and the light fixture in the room was flourescent and hanging at an odd angle. Our room was on the first floor right next to the street and was not even locked when we got there. I didn't feel very safe. They need to upgrade the rooms, badly.

This hotel isn't that bad, but I would only stay here if I was on a tight budget - like maybe if I was a college student and wouldnt be in the room at all anyway. Or if you are only staying a night or two. Otherwise, spend a little more and go someplace else.
