We went there thinking that we were going to enjoy the beach, to our extreme and very upsetting surprise, there was nothing there, the water was hitting the cement wall.
Where is the beach that shows in all the pictures? The advertisement on every website is misleading, you are selling something that is not there!!!!
False advertisement is wrong and it is against the law, you are misleading the people that pay a lot of money for a vacation, and instead we are being jerked out of our hard earned money!!!
We will be filling complaints against the travel agency that sold us this horrible deal, and we will hire a attorney in order to get our money back.
If you are looking for a beach vacation, go somewhere where a beach actually exists!!!!
The rooms were very small, the Hotel felt very claustrophobic, the restaurant was small, and the staff was very complacent with what is going on, regarding the false advertisement and misleading of theirs guest.
I will be adding the photos that we took that shows the non-existent beach!!!!! You will be able to see the big difference from the real hotel and the souped up pictures on their web sites.

Found a great last minute deal to Barcelo and decided to jump. I have to admit I wasn't too confident after reading some of the reviews but a vacation is a vacation. And Cancun is always beautiful!
We were supposed to stay in a lagoon view room but received a room in the South tower with corner balcony. Beautiful view of the ocean complete with the sound of rushing waves. It was a very windy week and the beach alas is virtually non-existent.
That being said this little resort is one of the best kept secrets in Cancun. Great for a quick escape. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The food is really not bad at all. I took a picky teen who had no problem finding something to eat. And yes the breakfast is AMAZING!!!
Granted this is not a four star resort but is very clean and well maintained. The staff and quests alike were all very friendly. The activity pool was always lively.

have just read latest reviews for this hotel. BARCE3LO TUCANCUM, CANCUM. I too was robbed while staying here. i insisted to the hotel manageress that i was convinced it was the maid. also 2 men working in room with her. we also were next to adjoinng room, management admitted there was investigation going on. still 1 year later no correspondence from hotel. i left forward address, it upsets me even now. expensive jewelery taken including my 30 year wedding and eternity ring. plus white gold necklace. this went missing from bedside drawer. please be careful staying at this hotel. as you will see from reviews theft is a big issue at the barcelo. and it is internal theft

lets start with the rooms... our maids came to our room last cuz we were on the top floor.. so we had to call them to ask for towels early in the morning and they would only ever bring three even though there was four of us so we had to share. The showers went from exteme hot to extreme cold without even touching the nossels.. The toilets over flowed all the time, then they got mad cuz we were just suppose to know we werent allowed to flush the toilet paper. My roomate and i who shared the same bed were covered in bed bug bites. I had a total of 20 on my legs. The beds were very hard and had stains. The veiw was AMAZING though, but our friends we were with got a room on the other side of the hotel facing a huge building.... What else hmm.. The bartenders were really nice, the food SUCKKEDD, really bad!! Also there was an incident with one of the staff members following one of our girls, they handled it pretty professionally and escorted him off the property but still!! Security was annoying, they wouldnt let you walk along the beach at night or dip your feet in the pool... I think our stay would have been muchhh better if we stayed somewehre else..
