My partner and myself went for a much needed break, and chose the Barcelo Tucancun 'Beach', becacause of its location ( right on the beach ), when we arrived it was quite late, however next morning, we awoke to discover there wasnt any beach, we were constantly approached by timeshare reps who are actually based in the hotel, the food was average, but drinks were plentiful, however, staff were very friendly, this was our third trip to Cancun, but after this trip, we wont be going again, its great there if you like shopping

We arrived early....was not able to check in....did receive our bracelets...and roamed around the resort ....checking things out. The resort is Beautiful. The weather was warm this time of year....we flew in from Jersey.....anything had to be better. The restaurants were okay....we liked the drinks....made special each night for each restaurant...WOW lots of liquor. The service was good....we had no complaints. The food at the buffet was okay...the size of the room was not good. You would think a buffet area would be loaded with tables and plenty of room....we always ate early in the morning....but if you arrived later....you had to wait. The pools were great....BUT COLD. We walked the beach....what was left of it...there was only 10 foot of land between the resort and beach.....water was to rough and choppy for us....plus toooo cold. We went to the Thai restaurant in the La Isla Mall....right down the street. Was magnificent...the food fresh....a great experience....we sat in our own huts...that was cool. Pricey, but oh so worth it....we even drank the water!!! And never got sick...bottled water, sodas , beer in the room fridge..nice....room safe...also very nice. Overall, we will definitely go back one day....still trying other Resorts in the area...and will certainly let you know.

I stayed at Barcelo Tucancun in January this year with friends and the hotel was very clean, with great views. The food was very good, but not great, not enough restaurant choices, but we got a very good deal on the vacation so I wasn't expecting five stars. The staff were all very nice except maybe the people at the front desk, they would have no part of upgrading anyone, whether your room was ready on time or not. But we did pay the extra $$ upgrade to a ocean view and it was well worth it, the views are beautiful. The beach is pretty narrow, which I had read before going, but we loved it, beautiful beach! The pools were great too, they do need more music playing at the other pools, the party pool with the music is located in a mostly shaded area so we didn't want to spend all of our time there. Overall, great vacation for the money, a short bus ride to downtown if you want to leave for anything - it's all there! I would recommend this hotel to anyone, but I wouldn't bring kids. There really isn't anything for them to do there, mine would have been going crazy.

We were there when the "swine flu" warnings were being broadcast in full force. The hotel was not as full as I'm sure it is at times. Our room was very clean and restocked every day. We had a fabulous ocean view with balcony. The pools were extremely clean and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and eager to be of service. The food was surprisingly good especially at the Don Quixote Restaurant. We will definately stay there again.

The only complaint I have is the so called "90 minute presentation" that really lasted for over two hours. We were forced to endure this time share/vacation week sales pitch even though we tried very hard to get out of it. I resent having to give up any of my vacation time to sit through a high pressure sales presentation. No legitimate business venture would force you to make a snap (same day) decision that involves spending several thousand dollars. Does anyone know of any way to get out of this whole song and dance next time?
