Last summer my husband, a friend of mine , and I booked a vacation with worry free vacations to Cancun Mexico.
We waited with great anticipation for our departure date to come.
We had everything ready and set to go. The day before our flight we drove to Dallas Texas and spent a restless night in a hotel. Finally the morning had come and we were off to Cancun Mexico.
The flight to Cancun was pleasant and uneventful. The landing was not so pleasant. We landed and our plane ended up on two wheels instead of three. But with all the skill and grace of a one legged jackrabbit the pilot managed to land us safely on terra fir-ma.
The trip to customs and baggage claims was very unobtrusive. We received all of our luggage and did not have to go through a cavity search "just kidding "
Our next mission was to find our transportation to the resort Tucancun.
We managed to work our way through all the time share people and found the vans that would be taking us to Tucancun. The ride to Tucancun was exciting and educational. Our driver was a very helpful young man. He told us a lot about Cancun and made us feel at home. It was especially exciting for me because this was the first time I have ever been out of the USA and would be exposed to a different culture. We had been waiting months for this vacation and hoping that the resort Tucancun would be a nice place to stay. It was only ranked as a three star.
When we arrived we were greeted at the front steps by a bellboy who took our luggage and pointed the way to the front desk. We walked up the steps when I reached the top my breath was taken away by the most spectacular view I had ever seen in my life. In front of me was my first glimpse of the ocean. I could not believe how big it was and it seemed to have no end. This was the first time I had ever seen a ocean in person, TV does not prepare you for the grand scope and how blue and vast the ocean really is.I was so happy,I had to wipe the tears from my eyes. Once you are done staring at the view you will notice the grand open air lobby of the Tucancun resort ( see pictures). The staff were very nice and we had no problems at check in. They had our room ready hours before actual check in time. We received a room Facing the ocean * see picture of ocean taken from my room* I could not of asked for a better room, I could open up my patio and fall asleep by the sound of the Ocean, I slept the best I had ever slept. The room it's self was nicer then we had expected, The beds was quite comfortable and the colors in the room went together and were very relaxing. The Floors are all tile due to the sand that you will track in to the room. There is no bath but there is a walk in huge shower, Which was very clean and free of any shower scum. The Shower head was tall enough for my husband whom is well over 6 foot tall.
There was also plenty of drawers and closet space for all of our clothing. There was also a hair drier provided and plenty of counter space to use for my make up and things. The housekeepers did a very good job at cleaning the room everyday. We did not suffer any type of theft incident, The maids went beyond their daily duties and even folded our clothing and put them away for us.
The was four places to eat at the resort, Which is All inclusive. We did not pay a dime for anything we ate or drank , Including liquor drinks. There were 2 buffets, That provided breakfast, lunch and a different type of dinner each night.the breakfast at the buffet were very delightful , They had all the usual breakfast foods you would expect in the USA plus some items from the region, It was all very good and tasteful. The lunches and dinners at the buffet are spiced a little different then you may be used to ,but nevertheless a real delight .The tables and the cafe was kept very clean. The food was kept hot and ready for you. The snack bar needed a little work, The cheese was running and tasteless the chips were stale however the french fries were very good and tasteful. The Mexican restaurant, Which was only available upon reservation and only for dinner was real authentic Mexican food. It was a very nice place to eat and they had singers that would come to your table and sing to you. You have to RSV before 10 am. It was well worth the time it takes to RSV. The pools were kept clean and clear and free of trash. There were three pools. One was a kid pool, One family pool and one that was used mainly by adults which had a swim up bar. They had a very nice game room which had pool tables and ping pong tables.
They had nightly shows in the ballroom which included casino night! It was fun for children and adults. The beach at Tucancun is white as newly fallen snow and as soft as baby powder.he beaches were kept very clean and were raked every morning. The staff at Tucancun far exceeded our expectations and hopes. The grounds were well taken care of and it was like waking up in paradise everyday. We did not have one bad experience with the staff at Tucancun. They went above and beyond what their jobs called for.We can not thank them enough for all that they did.The treated us not like a guest but like a family member coming to visit. This was my first resort in Cancun and only rated a 3 star resort. I think at the least it should be a 4 and half star. In closing this was the best time of my life. I can not put in to words how beautiful this resort and country is. I have included some pictures of Tucancun , The ground at Tucancun,Staff and The ocean. I hope you find my view helpful as I did when I searched tripadvisor for our up.coming trip. I am also including some pros's and con's.
