“A Relaxing Time”

Temptation Resort & Spa

Jun 15, 2008

I read reviews for a month before our trip to Temptations, and I wasn't really sure what to expect. My husband and I were there for a week, and we had a good relaxing time. We are in our 20's, not big drinkers, and wanting a relaxing vacation. I will just go over a few things from the resort.

Check-in was fine. They gave me and my husband a room with double beds, which I thought was odd since obviously we are a married couple, so be sure you specify double or king beds. They changed our room to a king room with no problem. Also, be sure the price they are going to charge you for all-inclusive is the price you were quoted when you made reservations. Ours wasn't, but it was later fixed.

We did the time-share presentation, and it wasn't bad. Never take the first deal because by the time we were ready to leave, they had cut the price down considerably. We received $75 for the tour. It took 2 hours, but part of that time was during breakfast. Also, beware because they try to get you drunk while doing the presentation.

The food was good. I really liked the all-inclusive thing because you don't have to worry about cooking or finding anything to eat. the buffett was good with a wide variety of foods. My husband is picky, but he always found something. The waiters were very attentive. We ate at the Italian, Seafood, and Asian restaurants. Waiting in line for reservations is crazy. My advice is to take a book and be in line by 9:30. If not, you will be in-line for an hour. Also, be aware of the dress codes for the restaurants. The asian restaurant has a no-sandals rule. My husband and I went there for our anniversary, so I had on a nice dress and glittery sandals. The guy would not seat me until I hade on shoes that weren't sandals, so I had to wear my sneakers with my dress. it was so dumb because at the next table were ladies with very casual outfits and sneakers. Just be sure your shoes have a heel or wear your sneakers.

I had a 50 minute massage that was wonderful. I highly recommend the spa.

We also took the day trip to Isle Mujures. It was awesome!!! I highly recommend it. The catamaran was relaxing, and the tour guides were wonderful. it includes lunch. if you are going to Temptations through RCI, you will get this trip for free. if not, i think it is just $49 per person and it is so worth it.

We mostly stayed at the quiet pool. It was very calm over there. Women still go topless there (women who soooo shouldn't go topless), but it's not a big deal.

Overall, it was a relaxing trip. I do recommend the place. Everyone, including the staff and the guests, was very nice. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

This was NOT a swingers resort or over the top hedonism. There is toppless sunbathing at the pool but no overt nudity. It is an adults only resort so the shows are risque, but not vulgar. The food was great. Don't waste your luggage space with nice clothes for the "reservations only" restaurants. All the food is equally good. Everything was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The beach had seaweed but it didn't bother us a bit. The watersports were very fun. The drinks were not watered down. In fact, they sometimes seemed very strong. The rooms weren't overly big but were very clean. I would definetly go back.

Our first time at all inclusive resort. This was a mid range resort not the most expensive, and not the least so we were expecting mid range service. We never ate at the restaraunts butthey looked nice and the buffet and mardi gras which served grilled food were more than adequate. The hotel service cleand and stocked our fridge daily, a little skimpy on the water but we drank mostly pina coladas and daqaris all week, bar staff was great. They try to schedule you for a time share in the beginning but we never attended and never heard about it after. Great info about the area from the time share person though. Beach area wasnt the best but we made the most of it. Fun at the sexy pool good for a laugh. I had a great time, for what I paid. But I am an optimist and make the best out of every situation.

“A good all rounder!!”

Temptation Resort & Spa

Jun 12, 2008

Like many others my partner and I were initially a little reluctant about going on our holiday when we read other peoples reviews and heard rumours about Temptation and how it was supposedly a "swingers resort". However I am glad to say that when we got there we found this wasn't the case - it is just an adult resort where people sunbathe topless and can participate in harmless pool side games if they wish.
We spent the majority of our time at the lazy pool where it was quiet but did go to the sexy pool for entertainment value a few times. The entertainment staff were outgoing and friendly and actively got guests involved in pool basketball and beach volleyball.
Food in buffet and restaurants was excellent and waiters were very pleasant and attentive. Maids always left our room spotless and hotel in general was well presented and clean.

The only down point was the fact that there was no bar open in side the hotel during the day if weather wasn't great and apart from having beauty treatments there were only pool tables to keep you amused when it rained.

I have just returned from a fortnight in this resort with my boyfriend and two other couples. After reading some reviews we had a few apprehensions, particularly as the hotel only rebranded to 'Tempation' after we had booked, but these were completely unfounded.

Check in etc was all fine, room was great although the glass wall into the bathroom was a bit odd, you could move the shower door for some privacy so not too bad, Maid was ok, we tipped most days and got towel sculptures which was good.

We spent time at both pools, depends whether you are up for a drink and a laugh or want to relax as to which pool to head to. Sexy pool was okay, not quite as seedy as we had been lead to believe, the games can be adult orientated but to be honest I've seen worse on an 18-30 holiday, its the same idea. They also do water aerobics etc so its not all adult orientated.

Service was great in most places, tipping definately helps in the evenings as we ended up getting branded drinks. Pool bars were good (big pool better than quiet pool), the Paty O bar in the middle was a nice place to meet for a few quiet drinks, the sports bar was good, has wii's and popcorn! The Nice Shoes was where entertainment was, again adult orientated on some evenings but you know what your getting in advance so if you dont want to see it dont go.

Buffet restaurant was great for breakfast you could get whatever you want. For lunch we went to both buffet and Margaritas, which did burgers pizzas etc, also a small buffet for nachos chilli chicken wings etc. For dinner buffet was great too, big variety and different theme every night. We went to both italian and asian restaurants twice, food and service both fantastic, plus was really smart decor, would totally recommend both. We also went to the tex mex once, had steak was still good but the others were in a different class.

We went to Xel-ha for the day, was great well organised, very tiring though but was a great day out - good food and drink too, corona on tap! Also went on Pirate Boat cruise, again food and entertainment amazing. Both trips booked with guy next to pool bar he was fine, although they dont mention the $6 tax that the pirate boat also want off you till after you pay.

We only went a few nights out, Coco Bongos is a must, is a bit of a cattle market when you go in but we went upstairs and had a bit of space, a good view and a bar right next to us. Its an amazing show, and if you go to one club make it this one. Also went to the bars over the road, $10 for the ladies, $15 for guys, all you can drink, you need to tip as well but it was a good night, quite cheesy but a good laugh.

On the whole I would recommend this hotel, would definately go back we had no major criticisms at all. Would even go just with my boyfriend, the swingers reputation is blown out of proportion, its there if you want it but its not rammed in your face at all.

    • Disliked — Quite far out of Cancun, 10 mins on bus but I suppose it only costs 35p so no matter!
