Well had to write a review after reading so may different ones. My girlfriend and I went to the resort from May28th-June4th 2009. Now after reading the mixed reviews we went in open minded and figured we would decide for ourselves.
From the time we landed till the time that we left I would say we were treated very well. And that the staff is very nice not one of them will pass you without saying Hola. The resort is being cleaned from the time you get up till the time you go to bed.
Let me see if I can give you some helpful hints:
1. We used Best Days for or transfers to and from the airport, they where very nice and on time. We would recommend them
2. After checking in you are sent to meet with a person that tells you about the resort, they try and set up a breakfast with you to go over it in more detail. If you want the free gift and want to hear about there style of a time share then go, if not just tell them you are not interested.
3. Do not over pack; you will most likely be wearing a bathing suit most of the day and only changing at night.
4. If you do not feel like leaving the resort there will be no reason to. If you do want to go to the clubs the resort sets up a bus ride to a different night club every night for an additional $40.00 US dollars, includes the ride over, cost to get in, and all the drinks you want. Note it does not include your ride home, so you will need a bus or taxi home. Bus is much cheaper about 7.5 pesos each.
5. Sun screen is very important, weather you buy it at the resort or at home make sure you do not buy the cheap stuff. If the ingredients start with water or wax I don’t care if it is 80 block you will still burn. Buy a sun screen that the first ingredient is Aloe.
6. If you do not feel like running back and forth to the bartender bring you own larger cup, the bartenders will make you drink to the size cup you give them. If you do not want to pack one they sell some nice ones in the gift shop for about $8.00 US dollars
7. Bug spray/lotion can be very helpful as they have a lot of mosquitoes; they like to come out about sunset and since most of the night life is outside this can save you a lot of scratching.
8. Now when we went the hotel was only at 30% capacity due to the flu scare and just the bad economy in general. But normally you would want to make your dinner reservation between 10am and 12pm and if you want to get a nice seat at the pool you would have to have you towel on a chair by 8am. We did not have to do any of this, so that was really nice but I figured I would tell you about it.
9. Tipping, I suggest that you bring some dollar bills with you and do tip. But you can decide on when it is right, you know who is going out of there way to make you feel special. But all the employees work hard so show them that you appreciate it.
About the beach, yes it is true that it always has seaweed on it and does not have the best smell. The workers are out there all day doing there best to make it look nice but it really is not a beach. The small sand portion has some great sand but the water is not very inviting. The resort is located more on the bay side so you do not get the crashing waves and all that most people think about when you go to the beach. Now with all that said if you are looking for that type of feel than this resort is not for you. If you just want to look at the view and have fun with all the activities that are going on then you will most likely never even notice.
About the restaurants, we enjoyed the food at all of them with the Italian one being our favorite and the Asian a close runner up. Now most people talk bad about the buffet, we only ate breakfast there and it was decent. They have a cook that will make you omelets, fried eggs, and many types of Spanish foods. The items that are in the buffet line to choose from are like most other buffets you probably have been to. The buffet is not fine dinning in any manner but it surly is edible. If memory services me right there is some place to get some type of food 24hrs a day.
About the games they play, these games are fun weather you decide to participate or just sit back and watch. They do have an adult theme to them but guess what you are staying at an adult’s only resort.
About the other guests, if by the end of the second night you have not found friends to hang out with and party you are either a loaner and don’t want it or you must just smell bad (LOL). You will leave there with new friends and plenty of e-mail address of all the new people you meet. As for the rumors about the swingers, well we did not see any but that does not mean that they are not there, but if they are they are not pushing it on anyone.
If there are any questions you think I may be able to answer please feel free to email me at [--] and put Temptations Resort on the subject line so I just do not delete it as junk mail
