The entertainment was great! The crew they have doing the pool side events were hilarious--topless beach/pool! Many sex games played...funny stuff. A group of my friends went 25-34 yrs old. It is not a place for the younger singles to go. The clientle was 40+ range. Everyone was very nice and outgoing...definately party seekers, but not the age bracket we were looking for (scenery included). Make sure that you call the hotel and get all of the 'details on policy' before you book! We had problems checking in and out. Every time I went to the front desk.. somebody was having another issue with checking in/out... or with their safe being tampered with. Food was ok.. the drinks were strong.. both were free, what else could you ask for. It is located @10 min from all of the action...clubs, etc... the fares start adding up. Look for a resort closer to the scene! GO TO COCO BONGO'S DEFINATELY... THE TIME OF OUR LIFE! You will never have such a Hollywood Vegas experience in one nite!!!! $60 to get and in drinks included!!!! Good luck.. have a great trip!

This is definitely the best resort in Cancun!
During our seven day stay we: went to the nearby island (La Isla Muheres, see the attached photos) on a boat docked near the hotel, we went to a couple of dance clubs, we did multiple water sports at the hotel's beaches, including: kayaking, windsurfing and boating.
Also, the food was pretty good at the hotel and the three 'fancy' restuarants were nice too. I especially liked the salads and fruits available at the buffets. The daily activities at the hotel were fun, particularly those at the 'sexy pool' and the live band in the evening (who had a great lead singer). Also, the hotel had charter buses to the top dance clubs and this was great! By the way, the Coco Bongo was EXCELLENT, particularly because of the outstanding shows.

When I was kayaking, I noticed that many of the other hotels did not offer the water sports that our hotel had and in fact, there were no other kayaks or windsurfers at any of the other hotels. Also, I found the staff to be extremely nice and friendly, particularly those at the watersports station.

The rooms: The rooms were average. There was nothing wrong with them, they were always kept clean, and the shower was very confortable for 2 people - 3 would fit too. TV had 2 channels of adult entertainment, but that gets old so you need to go to the pool.
The pool: The pools are nice, 3 large pools to choose from, the activity pool, the quiet pool and the party pool. The 'activities' at the party pool were nothing bad, and it all depended on the people participating, some were quite tame.
The bars: The drinks are weak, thats what you should expect if your drinking girly drinks. Stick to beer and wine etc if you are a complainer or too 'slow' to figure out "please make it a double". Trust me - they can make them strong if you ask. Bars were not too bad, nice shoes bar still in construction would have liked to see it.
The People: Staff are really friendly. Guests - seemed to be two types of guests while I was there - the older 40-50 crowd. Which seemed to be very comfortable going topless, and making the pool shows as funny as possible. Lots of fake (-) in this crowd, shooting about 50% for good bodies - but that ain't real bad. As spring break started the crowd became more young. There seemed to be more guys than girls, but not real bad. Girls staying and BBClub would come to party at the Getaway. The young crowd was more up-tight if you can believe it, girls were probably 90% hot. The crowd, young and older, were all very friendly and easy to make friends with and definately made the Getaway the place to go. The overall feel of the place (party/laidback)was much better than other hotels where you felt pretentious and not able to let your hair down and not give a hoot what other people think.
Quote to live by at Getaway:"Nobody knows you, nobody cares"
Its up to you
- oh ya there are good instructors for wind surfing and such so even if you aren't a skier (me) you can wind surf first try - no lies, I was shocked too.

We just got back from Blue Bay Getaway in Cancun and overall we had an OK time. The rooms are not very nice, the beds are pretty hard, there are only about 4 english speaking television channels but they do offer a free porn channel and the playboy channel is free as well but you have to hit the mute button because again these are in Spanish. I read several reviews stating the rooms smelled like mold, well I think I discovered the problem. The rooms are all tile and there is a floor drain for housekeeping to mop the floor, well the drains do not drain well and you can smell the odor coming from there. There is a drain in the bathroom floor and also one on the balcony so if you are in those places, you will smell the odor. We took some Febreze and sprayed the curtain as soon as we got there and it hid the smell somewhat, but you can still smell the odor. The adult activies were fun and interesting so hang out at the sexy pool and you will have a good time. We were not impressed at all with the food. We are more into the way food tastes and not the way it looks and they treat you to some very pretty food but taste...well not so good. The best meal we had at the resort was the cheeseburger and fries we had at lunch. Overall the place is OK but we would not go back. For someone to spend a couple thousand for a trip and not have refrig or tub in the room, well not worth the money. I know several others that have gone and stayed at other resorts there and they had all of the amenities you would expect for about the same price. If your going, I hope you have a good time.

Although we had a blast-the place is great fun for couples-there were several things we weren't impressed about. We are the kind of couple who would have fun anywhere, and we weren't going to let a few problems stop that. Our room was average-had the typical Mexican sewer smell. We had a balcony room with a great veiw over looking the sexy pool and the ocean, however it was fairly close to the Margarita bar area, which was pretty noisy into the wee hours of the night.

We thought the beach was beautiful. We didn't ever actually swim in it and noticed people trying to walk who were encountering lots of rocks. There were lots of chairs on the beach and it was still fairly close to the pool action and the bar.

The sexy pool was a riot and a half. The games and the staff were hilarious. There are topless women of all ages and even timid me from the midwest sunbathed topless in a quiet area of the beach. I'd say about half the women there laid out topless. Chairs fill up fast around the pool, so save one early if you want to be by the action.

The drinks did not always have alchohol. We never tipped-maybe that would have helped. We found the drinks were better at some of the quieter bars. We did take insulated cups and would order two at a time. I found if you only ordered one, they were definitely stronger. No bars are open til 10 either, so if you are a morning bloody mary person, forget it.

We were pretty upset to find out that although there are 3 nice restaurants that require reservations-we were only allowed to eat at one during our 4 night stay. We wouldn't return for that reason alone. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast, along with the freshly made omelets and our excellent waiter who remembered us everyday, but we like to have a nice dinner and nowhere does it say when you book how many reservations you are allowed. We complained to the front desk staff and our apple vacation rep with no results. Also the day of our arrival we had not eaten all day and there wasn't anywhere open for several hours. A midnight cheeseburger at the Margarita bar is great after a full evening of drinking.

We fell for the-we'll give you a tour for a free trip to Isla Mujeres line only to figure out 10 minutes into it that it was a time share scheme. I didn't want to waste any of our short vacation being cornered by sales people and when I politely expressed that the gal wasn't very nice about it. We got drug back out of the buffet restaurant and away from our fresh cups of coffee to sign off for her. I tried to refuse to leave. I hate being pressured when I am suppose to be on a relaxing vacation.

All in all-it was fun but we would not return. We have been to Cancun 3 times and are now planning to return annually for extended stays, but it will not be at the Blue BAy.
