We just spent 3 days at the Blue Bay Getaway with friends and had a great time. The weather was great the pools where great, the ocean was a beautiful blue, but not all things were not great. When you needed help from the people at the front desk, that was just too bad. If you wanted to make reservations at their restaurants and do any of the tour that was not doable. Most of the tours leave before you can make reservations and done by the time you get back and the front desk would not help. The buffets were okay but got boring after a while. The service at the buffet area was great, they were a lot of fun, as well as the bartenders. The drinks were watered down but they were still good and no matter how much you tipped you still didn't get the good stuff. The maid service was great, the room was always very clean. There was a lot to do during the day but the night life was pretty dull and we really didn't want to spend the money to go to the clubs that kind of defeats the purpose of all inclusive. I would like to try some of the other resorts but all in all I would go back to the Blue Bay.

We had an awesome time at the Blue Bay. The food was great the service was outstanding and the staff was wonderful. The getaway cast at the sexy pool was great, very entertaining, and fun. You have to play the games with the cast it's to much fun. The best drinks are made at the bar by the sexy pool. The Bella Vista seafood resturant has superb food. Take the Blue Bay Catamaran out to the Isla Mujeres but make sure you ride on the DonDiego boat it is only people from the Getaway. It was 49.00 USD but was well worth it. The drinks were great and plentiful the crew was fun and the bartender was excellent. He was also the snorkling guide at the reef. Michelle we had a blast. We meet several people from the US and partied with them the entire time. The Getaway has night parties at different clubs every night. We went to the partyat CoCo Bongo. It was WILD. A must do for a once in a lifetime experience. We had a great time at Blue Bay and would recommend it to any one. Looking forward to going back for another awesome trip. Thanks to Tommy and Robin for making our trip even better.

I read some reviews before we went on our trip, especially about the "mold" and the "musty smell", I found our room surprisingly clean and odor free. We did have a problem with the plumbing, but maintenance came right away when we called. The staff was very friendly, housekeeping made cute animals out of the towels, our waiter remembered us when we came in for breakfast. The bar tenders were hilarious, and the Getaway cast were entertaining. Unfortunately, we did need to deal with the front desk, not only were they not helpful, they were down right RUDE. For that alone, we would not return. The beach was beautiful, but very small. The food was average. The drinks were watery, but tipping helped to rectify that. We were very disappointed with the energy of the hotel, the days were fun, but the evenings were boring. We left one day to go snorkeling, that and the fact we were with 5 other people, was that best part. There are other hotels, I recommend you try one of them.

My husband and I (30 & 31 yrs old respectively) were at BBG the last week in March. Having read this site, I pretty much knew what to expect. The beds were hard, but not so hard you couldn't sleep. Our room was quite large (but sparse) with a great view. The shower was big and there was plenty of hot water. The entire resort was well maintained. Our room was clean (it smelled funky at times, but opening the balcony doors took care of that), the pools were cleaned every morning, and we even saw someone come around and do a spot check of the cleaning materials at one of the bars. Everyone (excluding the time share people we did not deal with) was so nice and the service was great. We did tip here and there, but they deserved it.

My husband found that tipping a dollar every other drink or so got him Bacardi Anejo in his rum and cokes as opposed to mexican rum. It's an inexpensive resort and you do get what you paid for. I stuck with beer. Dos Equis on tap is excellent, I'm still having cravings. And we NEVER had to wait more than a minute or so for drinks at any of the bars.

Our biggest complaint was the food. Like others said, the breakfast buffet was great. I looked forward to it every day, but the lunch and dinner I could not take. It's the same food in different forms every meal and the quality is bad. By our third non-breakfast trip to the buffet, I was sticking to bread and fruit. The snack bar is the best option and made the trip tolerable. We ate at the Asian restaurant and it was excellent, but unfortunately, we only got one dinner at a good restaurant. There's no way we could stay for two weeks, we'd wind up paying to eat out every night which would defeat the purpose of the AI.

We were a little surprised at the clientelle. We picked BBG to avoid spring breakers, but I was shocked that the 25-40 age group was only about 10% of the people there. Most were in their 40's and 50's, not that they weren't fun. And there was a certain "trash" factor about alot of the people. And the topless thing, well, about half the women went topless and most of those were not in the younger age group (and all should have left their tops on!) but they were having a good time so more power to them.

We have decided that we would not go back. We'd rather pay a little more money for a nicer resort with better food. We had fun and don't regret our decision at all, but I think once was enough.
