Holy crap, I couldn't believe when I looked at the pictures of this place. I stayed there in 1982 and even the sign out front is the same!!! It wasn't very nice back then, but I do remember it had very high security. They really knew when you came and went. Our room was a funky bi-level deal and was dark. There were only about 20 hotels max on the "strip" back then, so the pickings were slim.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and were actually really dissapointed in it. The service was good. The restaurant was alright. The pool was okay. The rooms were large, spacious, and clean. But I came to Cancun for beach paradise... and what we got at this hotel was a third floor view of the crappy tennis court, and the not so much blue cancun ocean. The beach is not the turquoise water color or real soft white sand as in "actual Cancun" as my friends and I began calling the beaches closer to town. The beach was small and crowded and noisy filled with boats and boat dockers. It was more the marina life, then the paradise life. This hotel was nice, clean, had good service, and was a alright place, but not for Cancun. Trust me if your going to Cancun- bite your bottom lip and fork out the extra 50 dollars a night to stay in a real place. I recommend the Dreams Cancun, or The Hilton... closer to nightlife and town, with gorgeous beaches and also great service, pools, and class. :)

Hi! we just returned from 7 nights at CVB in Cancun. Our room was on the third floor facing the ocean and we loved the basic charm of our large suite. Bring a travel mirror & a blow dryer as the bathroom lighting was subdued and no dryer provided. The room was extremely clean and I had no allergies during our stay. The bed is firm but I slept like a baby. The yaht club is right out front so we watched the gal feed the pelicans left over bait in the morning and we got to be surrounded by the comical looking birds after this meal. We watched fishermen lift large fish from their boats including some sailfish one morning. Any fish not wanted by the paying sportsmen went down the beach to feed the locals. The pool is in a center court and is a great place to read as it's quiet. We ate breakfast in the cafe the first day but preferred to catch that meal down the street on the corner at a baguette cafe where the coffee was awesome and the eggs were more American style. The bus goes everywhere and is cheap. We stumbled upon the best grilled fish we've ever eaten at Punta Nizuc served in an outdoor restaurant next to the Nizuc canal South of town. I was a little aprehensive but the waiter gave us a tour of the cooler full of fresh caught fish and the cooks basting huge fillets over a wood fire out back. No ammenities, just good food. You might want to bring some antiseptic hand cleaner, this is rustic!!! The Mexican people are wonderful hosts..........we hated to come back home.

We got a rough start with this hotel. I made a reservation with Priceline because they were offering a beach view. When we got there we found that Priceline did not do the reservation, so I had to pay again in cash. And I am still waiting for Priceline to give me my money back. Luckily the hotel had space, and once they showed me the rooms I decided to stay. We got a big condominium with a fantastic view of the water from its two rooms, the balcony and the dinning area . It is an older hotel, true, and has a few problems, but this kind of room was a rare find and we were a few meters from the water. The main disadvantage of this hotel is that management allows boat passengers to wait on the beach in front of the hotel. So, in the mornings, the little beach is crowded with people who are waiting to go to Isla Mujeres. In the afternoons the beach gets better, but be advised that in this area of Cancun the waters are calm, shallow and beaches are narrow. There is no beach bar in the hotel but I had a pleasant walk along the beach and found a beach restaurant besides the hotel.

  • Liked — great view, few meters from the water
  • Disliked — management allowed boat riders to wait on the beach

I enjoyed my stay at "Club Verano Beat". It is not on the grand scale by any means. It felt like a family ran hotel and I felt very safe there. The room I was in was on the 1st. floor and had air-conditioning units. One did not work well when we turned it on. I called the front desk and assistance was sent right away. The problem was solved . The unit had 1bedroom, living room with 3 areas for sleeping and a kitchen area with a table and chairs. You could not cook in the room, but you could bring food to the room and be comfortable. The bathroom was clean and large. I was able to walk out my patio door and walk right to the beach , The beach was a few steps away. If you wanted to swim in the the beach water you could. I saw several people who were swimming. I enjoyed seeing the fishing boats come in and view the catches that had been made that day. I went includsive when I booked my stay and was happy I did. The food was fine. The salad, fish and some of the beef dishes were great. I did have a hamburger that I did not like. If you are after entertainment and lively night life, this is not the place for you. I did not mind catching the bus to take me to intown activities and to the night life. Also, cabs are everywhere. English is not widely spoken in Cancun. I went into several hotels and found out that persons that spoke English had to be called to talk with me; but you can get your point across if you know a few Spanish words. I will stay at the Club Verano Beat again when I go back to Cancun. It was stress free.
