Our family stayed at the Ambiance Villas from June 18-28. There were 6 of us total, including 4 adults and two college age kids. We had three rooms all within one enclosed corridor which was very nice as we could congregate in the main room which had the kitchen and family room but also have our own bedrooms for privacy. Our rooms overlooked the ocean which was just beautiful.

The grounds are meticulously kept up and the beach in front of the hotel is the best in Cancun. We walked or jogged quite aways down the beach toward the main hotel strip and the beaches were nothing compared to the one in front of Ambience Villas. And just a little side note, if you jog the other direction along the beach you'll go past a few of the only houses along the whole strip which are simply gorgeous and as we later found out, one belongs to Steven Segal and a couple doors down another belongs to Madonna.

We paid for the inclusive breakfast which was very good. The person making the cook to order omlettes was awesome and remembered how I liked mine (three eggs two white one with yoke and vegetables) within two days of being there and started having it ready for me before I even got up to him in line. Miguel and Madrid (I think those were the names) waited on us most mornings, and even though this is self serve, they accomated all our needs including bringing drinks, more food etc. etc. and were just the friendliest people. I believe it was Madrid who even showed us some pictures of a sea horse he had found. This leads me to the most important part about this hotel which is the staff. Madrid shared something personal with us, and that was the feeling you got with the entire staff. They got to know you, they cared how your stay was going.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention Rodrigo from the gift shop who was one of the friendliest and warmest retail clerks I have met in a very long time. If you are lucky enough he may even seranade you with a flamenco song on his guitar.
The front desk staff was simply great. Our daughter had an injury to her leg (minor) but the medical staff absolutely bent over backwards to help her. I think there were 4-5 people there at one point making sure she was ok.
The cleaning staff also were amazing. They always had our rooms sparkling. When we first got there the outside door to our corridor wasn't shutting correctly, early the next morning, they had the entire door pulled off its hinges and sanded down so that it shut properly.
The work out room is very clean and has a new universal type weight set along with some cardio cycles and eliptical etc. The pool also very clean and plenty of room for kids or adults to relax or play etc.
Is this place for everyone.....maybe not, it is not a typical high rise hotel with all the fancy amenities and nightlife on the premises but the price is very good, the staff amazing and a quick bus ride or taxi ride down the street (we chose to walk because it was only about 10 minutes) and you're in the heart of the clubs and shopping malls etc.
This place surpassed my expectations. I have had many a free hotel room because I write nasty letters to the managers and complain unrelentingly if my stay was subpar, so believe me it takes a whole lot to get me to take the time to write something good. This place was worth the effort.

We were given a top floor room, which was nice, but not convenient as I had problems with my leg and there were no lifts. The alternate room which we were then given, was on the ground floor - average with a horrendous wash basin and the smell of sewage around it. The shower was weak and the water didn't flow as well and tended to clog up.
We were told we could upgrade for extra cost, if we wished - and when we expressed our interest, were then told that there were no other rooms to upgrade to.
There was no coffee maker in the room as well.
The beach itself was lovely and well maintained and there was excellent service around it. We managed to have even our lunch served there.
We stayed there for 5 nights and the worst part was when we had $200 stolen from the safe / locker in the room. The reception refused to do anything about it and made out that my husband must have forgotten that he had spent it.
Also the other downside was the constant tipping that was expected everywhere. We had stayed in Mexico City and other parts of Mexico and found that it was left to us whether we wished to tip or not. At Ambiance, even the waiters that hovered around the buffet breakfast expected to be tipped and said so as well.

My husband and I, seniros, stayed in Ambience Kin-Ha hotel in Cancun, Mexico for five nights. Hotel was clean, especially landscape (ground) workers keeping it adequate enough. We had very positive experience, visiting Mayan ruins outside of the city.

I am diabetic and therefore I have to eat frequently. Small portion. One morning we had to meet the tour bus at 7:15 a.m. My husband went to the restaurant (free continental breakfast) to ask to box us breakfast. This particular waitor laughed at him as if he was saying, "Are you kidding me? Boxed lunch?" So he went to talk to the Front Desk manager who had him "box" breakfast for us. If he hadn't, probably I would have been fainted due to low sugar count. No place to buy or eat food during a 3-hour trip to Xcaret.

Second incident with the same waitor: Following morning we were meeting tour guide to go to Chichen Itza. We had enough time to have breakfast at the restaurant. I had one small sweet bread which I could not finish. I eat like a sparrow. Anyway, I asked the waitor I could take that one roll with me since it was a long hour traveling. He said, "NO!" I asked him to be flexible. He said it is against hotel rule to have any kind of food out of the restaurant. I would be dizzy if I dont't have anything in a 4-hour drive. He was adamant!

I wish the "management team" would edcuate these people so that they would learn to be more flexible in order to accommodate someone like me whom have medical condition.

Would I go back to the same hotel? Maybe not. It left us bad taste in our mouth as if we ate something foul.

Just returned from a 6 night stay. The 2 bedroom suite is huge! The furniture was a little dated (orange, sticky dresser drawers and only 2 pictures on the wall which could be found repeatedly through the hotel) If you can get passed the lack of glitz that you are paying for in the larger chain hotels, you'll love this place. Everything was very clean. The beach restaurant was top notch. You can swim in the pool, lounge on the most beautiful beach in Cancun (really, we looked!) and have a wonderful meal, beautifully presented, in your bathing suit! And then instead of wandering through a big lobby and up an elevator then down a long hallway to get to our room, we just walked across the property and straight into our room.
Tip 1 - head for the Cancun Walmart! - we bought rum for $8 a bottle there! We also got a case of water, beer and coke, froze the water in the full size freezer and put it all in a styrofoam cooler ($4, also Walmart) and took it all to the beach - saves a fortune in bar tabs! There is a full kitchen, so if you want to save even more on meals, check out the amazing selection of meat and seafood at the Walmart. We stuck with snacks - cheeses, crackers and the like.
Tip 2 - use the money you saved on the bar bill to rent a car! we had a blast driving down to Xcaret and north out of Cancun on a road to no where. Parking is cheap at the various malls, sometimes even free. We paid $3 for valet parking at Puerto Juarez for the ferry ride to Islas Mujeres. The freedom of going where you want when you want is great. Gas was cheap - $2.40 a gallon.
Tip 3 - request a room in the 5000 building - these are the closest to the beach. We liked the first floor.
Tip 4 - pig out at Rio on Kukulakan Blvd (next to the big open air Catholic Church) - the Argentinian steak restaurant is a never ending parade of meats on skewers with a huge salad and seafood bar.
Tip 5 - wear lots of sunscreen - a UV index of 11 says it all.

I'd stay there again in a minute!

I went with a couple of girlfriends to Cancun in the last week of May 2008. The weather was a pleasant change from the New England weather we were used to.

First, I was displeased with my check-in. I booked a double room for two people on Expedia, and I informed Jessica at the front desk that I would be signing in two other people as I had trouble changing my reservation through Expedia. I, of course, expected to pay additional persons fees but I did not expect to get the cold attitude and glares from Jessica about the situation. My friends and I felt uncomfortable, and not to mention unwelcomed to the hotel, but we were too excited about the prospects of our trip to be stuck on it for too longer.

We were assigned to a room on the 4th floor in one of the buildings. AV however does not have any elevators and is one of the older hotels on the strip. The gentleman who showed us to our room, also carried our rather heavy suitcases - all 4 of them up the stairs in scorching heat. We were so appreciative, we made sure to tip him very well for his service. Our room was spacious and the AC was a relief when we got in. However, the AC did stop working the last night we stayed, we called the front desk and they sent someone to fix it. Unfortunately, we realized a half hour after the maintanence person left that the room was still extremely warm. Rather than call the front desk again, we toughed it out for the night as we had an early flight in the morning.

The staff at AV was amazing (minus Jessica) - friendly, helpful, courteous. We requested extra towels for our room and left a tip (a few dollars) every day for the maid. Our request was granted every day and our room was spotless when we returned. At night, the front desk was excellent - the men gave us suggestions on the best places to eat, sight-see and the hottest place for night life (Coco Bongo is a must!!!) as well as discount coupons to use for free drinks.

The breakfast at the hotel restaurant near the pool was adequate. It was a buffet so we could fill up for the day - all of us enjoyed the fresh omellettes and pineapple juice in the morning. Our breakfasts were suppose to be all-inclusive but each morning the waiter would bring us a check charging at one or two of my friends for the breakfast, I was told that only two of the breakfasts were included. I had to speak to the front desk about this situation each morning. It was quite annoying that they couldn’t get it right after the first time.

The grounds of the hotel were BEAUTIFUL. The cleanest sand that I have ever seen. Smooth to the touch, and completely white. The water was crystal clear blue and warm to splash around in. Overall, Ambiance Villas was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it. If you're looking to stay on hotel premise a lot or want be impressed by an array of amenities - go to a resort - AV is simple, clean and perfect for those who want to explore Cancun.

Make sure to do a day trip when you're in Cancun. My friends and I did the Xcaret trip for $100. Make sure you haggle with the person who is trying to sell you the trip, we were originally offered it for $150....but I'm sure if we persisted, we could have gotten it for even less. We got to snorkel in a cave, on top of the cave, see exotic animals, eat a delicious Mexican buffet, see an awesome night show and a million other things. It was fun and exciting!
