I read the reviews for this hotel and decided to book it. I booked a one bedroom ( 2 bed ) with buffet included and at the last minute my sister decided to join us. They allowed her to stay in the room and brought a cot. There were five of us in this room. I was very pleased; I really didn't want to pay the difference between the one bedroom and two.
I have a 7 year old daughter and didn't want a rough beach. This hotel has truly a wonderful and calm beach. Powder white sands and crystal clear water that is safe for children and is not too deep to tread. Some of the hotels have lost their beach due to the hurricane several years ago. This hotel was protected in a smaller cove and to me was worth every penny.
I'm happy I booked the buffet included. It was nice to wake up to a plentiful buffet with a lot of selections and enjoy the meal next to the pool and ocean. All of the staff was very pleasant to deal with and extremely helpful. You could walk to the middle of " the action " or take a bus to " Mercado 28" downtown. My favorite was to enjoy appetizers, coffee or a meal in their beach side restaurant as you went back and forth from the ocean or pool to join your family at your table; my seven year old daughter particularly liked this benefit. Their prices are very reasonable in comparison to the rest of the area including hotel restaurants.
I did not book a tour from our hotel. I walked on the beach to the tour hut from Fiesta Americana Hotel and booked snorkeling at Aqua World and a private snorkel trip on a small boat the day before we left. I talked them down to $80.00 for five of us and I loved every minute of this trip. I prefer small, non crowded tours just as I prefer more "typical", less commercial ( non-chain) locations.
The hotel was very clean, well kept and not luxurious. My husband loved the shower and our room faced the pool and ocean. This was the only request I asked for when I booked the hotel and I'm glad I did this. My sister used her computer from the open lobby and it worked very well. There is no connection from the third floor. There are no elevators that I saw so be prepared if you have a hard time climbing stairs. However, it has only three floors and 150 rooms so it is not a huge feat.
It has a work out room that overlooks the beach and my husband took advantage of this facility. It has a small hut with a washer and dryer and you can purchase tokens at the front desk. I bought the detergent at the "Oxxo" store and was able to wash our clothes before traveling back. No one was using this facility so it was convenient and fast.
There is a graffiti restaurant in an alley between the the Mexican Outlet and the Hard Rock sculpture that has very good food at reasonable prices! I ordered half a beef fajita dinner ( that was plenty for me ) that cost $5.00 dollars and I know for a fact they used tenderloin ( filet ) meat; unheard of. There is also a small Argentinan restaurant near " Margarita & Marijuana " that has excellent beef at reasonable prices,
I would definitely come back to this hotel. This was the most relaxing vacation I had had in a while; although I love to travel!

Great place to stay. I would have one complaint about the air conditioning, but having been to Cancun 8 times, I know better than to expect the AC to be perfect anywhere. Great service, food, beach. Our room was spectacular. Oster beehive mixer in the room!

i think the resort is in a very good location- close to everything, including the night life (coco bongo, the city, etc). we came at a very slow time (swine flu scare) so i dont know if things would have been different otherwise. the breakfast is included, and is pretty good (only for a couple of mornings), then i would probably pay to eat somewhere else. the pool is nice. the room i stayed in was spacious. overall, it was a good experience. just make sure you tip well at breakfast, otherwise the waiters will have a grudge on you for the rest of your stay.... ooo yes, there is a fitness center, but the equipment is terrible & there is no a/c inside... not a great place to work out in.

This was our 16th year we have been a guest at the hotel and we are made to feel like we are a part of the family. We like it a great deal and enjoy the beach and the water.
Our trip was shorter this year than most, thanks to the economy, we only stayed a month.
We arrived on Feb. 23rd and left March 25th. We have reservations for next year, as usual.
We submit a review each year and our experiences have always been favorable and we encourage people who have not stayed there to try it and we are sure they will like it as much as we do.
This is not a 5 star hotel with hundreds of people all around you and no need to fight for chairs or recliners as they have plenty.
Most people will find the suites have more room than your average hotel room and we recommend the ones with the kitchens for those who will be staying any extended length of time.
New this year is the chef who surprised us with unusually good food. Where else can you go and be served Coconut Shrimp for less than 14 dollars and get 10 giant shrimp and vegtables. We shared a meal. I should mention that the Tequila shrimp is very good as well as are the fajitas and tacos and with Fidel behind the bar, the margaritas are the best and the beer is always cold.
The pool is very nice and kept clean and they have a special playground for children and someone who watches them and it is fenced.
The rooms are kept clean each day and the maid always brings fresh towels and washcloths. We usually tip the maid about $ 2.50 a day as they are worth it and something extra when we leave. If you need something, just call the front desk and they will see that you get it.
Free towels for pool side or the beach are available near the pool area and to save paperwork, just exchange them each night.
We are right on the bus route and the rates did go up this year to 8 1/2 pesos and if you wish to go downtown, just take the bus in front of the hotel or cross the street to take the bus down the hotel zone to the malls.
One of the hotels biggest assets is Javier who has a desk near the front desk. This is the person you want to see to make reservations for a tour or dinner reservations at a nice restaurant. He will give you directions and make recommendations on some of the best places to eat. Not all of them expensive. Just let him know what you are interested in experiencing ane he has drink tickets to many or sometimes discount coupons and he is very fluent in English.
The front desk has some very helpfull people working there. Senor Rafael Rodriquez and Conce are two of them and they also speak excellent English and there are others.
The little baguette shop across the street and to the right 2 blocks has a great chicken sandwich with all the fixings and the Restaurant on the lagoon La Palapa Belga is still a great place to eat and close to the hotel but is small so make reservations early
Still some of my favorites are The Big Argintine Steak House in the Forum just 7 or 8 blocks from the hotel and its sister restaurant Puerto Madero further down the strip and easily reached by bus.
We met some new couples again this year and spent time with old friends from all parts of the United States and Canada not to mention Mexico and we look forward to seeing each of them again next year.
I just cant say enough nice things about the beach. It is hugh and when you enter the water it gets deeper gradually so it is ideal for children. There are many recliners on the beach and almost always not full and the grass huts - Palapas - are always nice to block the sun.
