We are frequent travelers to the Caribbean (DR, Jamaica, Mexico) and have posted reviews on several of the places we've stayed. Each had their pluses and minuses....this place really doesn't have a redeeming factor to mention.
As with everything your first impressions are lasting impressions. We were treated with less respect by the entire reception staff than Santa Claus at a Christmas Eve Mass. I have the patience of Jobe but after checking in three parties (one quite large) while we were first in line was unacceptable. I can understand the term "postal" after our experience with the staff.
After waiting four hours for our room key (literally, no electronics, no dead bolts, no peep holes) we were ushered to a room on the "Oasis" side and not the "Grand Oasis" as booked. We didn't know the difference until the second of our three days. We didn't have a mini-bar and after a couple hours had a bellman bring a half stocked mini-fridge to the room and plugged it in.....the next morning we found that it didn't work as didn't the TV. By the end of the day both were replaced, but the fridge still unstocked. The resort boasts 24 hr room service: hamburgers and club sandwhiches, but we didn't have a menu or room service number. They gave us a xeroxed copy of a map and a list of restaurants with opening times. Many of the advertised restaurants weren't on the map and I presume not at the resort. There isn't any beach to speak of due to hurricanes and not having replaced the sand at the resort. Each bar had a singular bartender serving literally dozens of people. The service needless to say was horrible. By the end of the second day I developed food poisoning. Most everyone complained that the only hot food was the hamburger grilled by the pool. My wife's symptoms didn't surface until we got home. Breakfast buffets were scant with very little selection. Bottom line is that this is a NO FRILLS third class, not even a one-star resort. Oh, and check out was equally as pleasant having to deal with the same personnel...but this time suffering from cramps and diarrhia. I've never been happy to leave a resort in the dozen or so times we've stayed in Cancun/Riviera Maya......guess I had to experience a first.
Be forwarned. I wouldn't even recommend this resort to my ex mother-in-law!!!
