Went to Cancun for the first timei n December for my bday w/ a few friends. We had a room at the Grand Oasis, booked through Travelocity, so we though everything was good. We got in at 11 PM and they needed a credit card in order to check in, and they charged the card! Even though everything was paid for through travelocity! The hotel management said we need to contact Travelocity to resolve - so my friend spent 4 hours on the phone the next day. Since this was a long-distance call from MEXICO, the phone call cost $300. The hotel manager was not accomodating at all. Also, if you come back after 11 PM, there is a guard at the from entrance making sure your name is on the hotel guest list, and anyone not on that list is not allowed in! WTF?? is this camp? If I pay for a room and want to bring someone back, that's my business. But you can't at the Crap Oasis! Thank goodness we didn't do all inclusive. The 1 meal we had was awful - and it was breakfast. If they screw up eggs, imagine what they can do with dinner! All in all, this is a beautiful looking hotel, but the lousy staff and service outweigh everything else. I would NEVER stay here again nor would I recommen it to anyone - ever. There are so many other, friendlier place to stay in Cancun. Avoid the CRAP OASIS!

Hello! My husband and I, along with 4 other couples just got back from a wonderful all-inclusive vacation at the Grand Oasis. Most Important!! If you are not looking for the 18-21 party scene, you better make sure your trip is booked with the Grand, and your rooms are in the main pyramid, and not Phase 1 or 2. Our group age ranged from 26-36, and I felt that the scene at the Grand was suiting for us. Although, if you want to experience all of the restuarants, you have to venture to phase 2, where all of the drunks are. (a couple of our guys had to pick one of them up out of the floor:) The food is strictly "ok". We were sick of it after 3 days. We ate at Chili's, and Pizza Hut is across the street from the resort. The rooms were not fancy, but mostly important, they were clean. We had very cold a/c, and the beds were very hard, but with extra pillows I was able to sleep very well. When we first arrived, our t.v. remote did not work, and you know my husband wasn't going to have that! We called front desk, and when we came back to the room that night, it was fixed. Also, the hot and cold water are backwards in the rooms. The emplyees at the Grand was very nice, especially Jaime at the beach. He will take care of all of your beach needs (chairs, towels, etc.) The Beach was breath-taking!! Soft white sand, perfect! We booked our trip through Apple Vacations, which seemed to be a good choice. All you have to do is tell the people who hassle you about the timeshares "no thankyou". That is what we did and they left us alone. We were not obligated to listen to anyone about that kind of stuff. They will bombard you at the airport in Mexico, just keep walking and say "no thankyou". Carry your own luggage unless you want to be hassled for tips from the Mexican who will wheel them 50 feet to your shuttle van.

I would definately come back to this resort. We had a great time!!

Eventhough we had read other negative reviews about the Grand Oasis, we decided to give it a try. Dont let the huge pool fool you. Who needs the pool when you have a beautiful ocean in any hotel you stay. This was our third trip to Cancun and never did I imagin I would experience what I did with this hotel.

We travel with our two young boys ages 9,7 and upon check in we were issued a room with one bed. The rooms were very small and a rollaway bed did not even fit. We were told they did not have room with two beds but that one would be avavilble in 8 days. Eventhoug we were paying for a room at the Grand Oasis, we did not get a room there. We got a room at another phase that did not have an elevator. We were told that the fourth floor was only for Grand Oasis guest. After a day of walking the hotel grounds and all the stairs they have, it was very tiring climbing stairs to get to the fourth floor with two young kids.

The people from the front desk were very rude and told us that this hotel only caters to young teenagers or honeymooners, not families. We realized that when walking to the resturantes with our young children. We saw girls urniating on the grass and naked guys. Never did anyone tell them anything.

The all inculsive plan at this hotel was not very good. The nonmotorized sports only consist of kayakes and you have to walk several blocks to the location to use them. Room service takes about an hour and 1/2. The golf course is the worst i have seen, with over grown grass all over the place. It had no nightly theme party like they advertise.
The only nice thing was the resturant that was only for grand oasis guest.

We traveled with two other families and neither of our room had a good working air condition. The rooms were hot and very stuffy. The restroom had no air condition vents.

We did not going to let this hotel ruin our vacation so after two days we swithed to a much better hotel for the next 6 days.

My husband and I just got back from 3 nights at the Grand Oasis cancun and we have come to the conclusion that the all inclusive Cancun resorts are not for us. The grounds and lobby were beautiful and our room on the 6th floor of the tower (phase 3) had a spectacular view. But, the service was lacking, especially for the amount of money you pay. We were solicited by an employee of the Grand trying to sell time shares as soon as we walked in. He even called us early the next morning and woke us up trying to get us to talk to him. Be careful - they try to trick you by inviting you to dinner and offering you discount cards. Most of the staff was not friendly and gave us wrong information. If you call room service, expect to be hung up on and then wait while the phone rings for 10 minutes. It will take about 1 1/2 hours to get your order. All the reviews that suggested to tip to get better service ..... don't waste your money! The concierge was only good for setting up dinner reservations, and had an attitude that she was too busy to be bothered. Be warned - this may be all inclusive, but you need to make reservations 1 day in advance to get into the good restarants for dinner. Stay away from the international buffets (especially phase 2) they were terrrible. Cocoa had good seafood, Las Palmas was a great Brazilian place with lots of meat for dinner. Ibiza has a good brekfast buffet. Sarape (mexican food) was OK. I ordered pork loin on a bed of black beans with cactus fruit. I got two pork chops with a small amount of refried beans and guacamole? The restaurants are not open all the time and there can be a wait. Most of the bars close early around 6 along with the pool. So, after 6, there isn't much to do. I had some stomach broblems the entire time we were there. I know the outside bars use none bottled water and maybe their ice is the same way. Why they would do this, who knows. There were a lot of things I questioned at this resort. The staff just did not seem to care about helping you out or solving any problems you had. Do not stay in the Phase 1 or 2 unless you are 19 years old, drunk and want to hear "show your t***s" being chanted during your entire stay. We ventured over to Phase 1 and it was like a frat house inside. Some of this did trickle outside to the pool area. If you like this kinda thing, this is your place. For couples and honeymooners looking for something more private and peaceful... try Azulik in Tulum Mexico. We stayed there our first 4 nights and it was perfect!

My husband and I just returned from 5 days at the Grand Oasis. We have been to Cancun several times, staying at a different place each time. There were things I liked about the Grand, but areas where it lacked as well. First of all, we were there with a group of people and had originally booked at the Cancun Oasis. After reading the many poor reviews, I decided to upgrade to the Grand. It was the best decision I could have made. We arrived around 11:00 and checked in with no problem. Our room wasn't going to be ready until 3:00, no biggie...we left our luggage with the bell hops and headed to the pool to find our friends. The pool that is closer to Phase I of the Oasis was crowded with folks between the ages of 18 and 25 from the Oasis. It was like this every day and the pool bar was pretty crowded. Not a big problem for the first day. Everyone was having a great time. We ate at the buffet in Phase I and it was terrible. We never went back. I recommend the buffet in Phase II. The Grand's buffet is not open for lunch. Our room was ready about 4:00. We checked in at 3:00 and were told the room wasn't ready and that we should wait as it was a nice room. I guess they could have gotten us into a room at 3:00, but it wouldn't have been as nice. Once we got in our room (5331), everything was nice. The A/C worked, the hot water worked, and the room was very clean and as you may have read the bed was rock hard (my husband loved that). The rooms as the Oasis Cancun were terrible compared to what we got (very thankful for upgrading). Also, our friends were woken up by screaming kids at all hours while the Grand was very peaceful. For the most part we ate at Ibiza (the Grand's buffet). It was pretty good compared to the others. We didn't get a chance to try some of the other restaurants as our friends were not privy to the Grand. The pool and the grounds were incredible. If you go torwards the Phase II side, it is much quieter. You don't have all the yelling or uncontrollable drunks. One day a girl just passed out cold in the pool. Her friend had to carry her to room. We went to the foam party one night. As part of the Grand, you get in for free and earlier than others, so you can get a good seat/table. This was a crazy party. Don't wear nice clothes. Some girls just wore their bikinis. The beach was great. We got an excellent spot in the reserved area for the Grand guest. The water was a little rough though. As for the pro's of the resort...great staff, great beach, great pool and pool bars, clean rooms, and lots of restaurant choices. As for the cons....didn't see any entertainment staff, saw no nightly entertainment, no craft or vendor booths, no information on hotel events, gift shops not so great, pool and pool bars closed kind of early, and most of us had a few stomach issues. I've been to Cancun 4 times and this was the first time I had stomach problems. Not sure why this time, but I did get a hamburger from the beach and it wasn't cooked all the way. It was pretty bad. I would avoid the hamburgers. The chicken and hot dogs were good though. Overall it's a nice hotel, but I like some of the others I've stayed at a little more. Some of the other hotels I have been to go out of your way to ensure you have a great time. I think the Grand/Oasis may be too big. My husband really liked the Grand. He enjoyed going to where there was action in Phase I and then being able to escape at Phase II or the Grand.
