My Husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Unfortunately our trip was cut short due to Hurricane Wilma approaching. We were lucky to get out of there considering all the staff told us "nothing to worry about have a tequila." That is because they want you to stay and get as much money out of you while jeopardizing your safety. Luckily my husband and I are smart and got out before they "had" to evacuate.
So now we are fighting with vendors in Mexico for refunds to our credit cards. One example is we called the U.S. to try and get a plane ticket, we never got connected they froze my credit card and later I was charged over $600 for calls that were NEVER connected.(FYI Bring your own calling card)
Despite all that you are hit up the first day you get there to buy a timeshare ($5000 deposit off your credit card)-we were smart not to fall for this either. I will never stay here again. I will tell you that in general the Mexican people are hard working and very nice and will help you as long as you smile and try to communicate with them, though most of them speak English. Just be careful and pick where you stay carefully. I'm attaching a photo of the Hurricane coming in as we were the last flight out of Cancun when Wilma hit.

Our trip at Sunset Lagoon this year was from Jan.28th-Feb.11th.....I feel i must write a review after reading some of the negative ones before our trip to Cancun to stay at Sunset Lagoon - we are members at Fisherman's and I have to say that Sunset Lagoon was fantastic! the staff were beyond outstanding - especially Daniela, Jaqui, Caesar, Alexis, Ivan and Jonothon....I travelled with my inlaws, wife and twin 4 year old girls - they had a wonderful time (all the twins talk about now is Daniela and Jaqui) - WOO WOO!

ALL the staff work very hard and treated us amazingly! there is some damage from the recent hurricane, but not enough to come close to ruining our trip...the food was fine - mostly buffet style, but it was good enough for us - we stayed in a suite and it was very spacious, clean, and had all the amenities we needed - the pool is huge and lots of fun, and there are plenty of activities to do (beach volleyball was too much fun) - the night shows were entertaining as well....I just can't see how people could say anything bad - granted we didn't have any "timeshare" horror stories as we are already members, but you will find that EVERYWHERE in Mexico

Kudos to all the staff...we would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Absolutely the best vacation ever and this is our 6th trip to Club Lagoon. The staff from the front desk to the restaurants is friendly, capable, and always willing to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. No not everything was perfect this year because of the hurricane but I couldn't believe the progress that had been made in such a short time and the inconvenience was marginal and only noticeable if you looked hard to find it. We took the "sales tour" again this year and will never do that again. The pressure is on once you ask a question or agree to take a "tour", however, if you say no right away you are never bothered again. We have already made our reservations for next year - a longer stay also. We have made good friends with couples who stay during the same weeks every year and that is something we look forward to also. In many ways travelers are either prepared to be negative about everything or to be positive and have a great time. Be positive!

Watch out for high pressure sales Do Not go to any presentations...Went to one bought a timeshare for an outragous amount of money...Was promised I could rent it out but never did...If they tell you it is a money maker..RUN
