CAN'T BELEIVE SOME OF THESE REVIEWS, WHAT DO PEOPLE WANT, SOME PEOPLE ARE SO FUSSY, IT DOES'NT STATE ITS A 5 STAR HOTEL, SO IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT THEN PAY FOR A 5 STAR HOTEL AND STAY THERE INSTEAD !

My firend and I stayed at the Hotetur Beach Paradise for 2 weeks from 17th April - 1st may and we can honestly say we had a brilliant holiday. So heres a little run down, its a bit long but we hope it helps -

HOTEL - The hotel is'nt as posh as the other hotels but then it is'nt as expensive as the other hotels, it could just do with a lick of paint, but for the price we would say we got excellent value for money, The hotel is set at the quieter end of the strip but this was not a problem. The hotel itself is spotless, the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and bedding, the maids here work continuously, forever cleaning, we didnt see a bit of dirt or dust. Credit to them all.

ROOMS - We were in the 1st block on the 8th floor. Lovely large room with balcony and view of both the lagoon and the sea. Rooms complete with A/C working perfect, shower, tv, kettle and cups, fridge, iron and ironing board and towelling dressing gowns, perfect for my friend as she never had her dressing gown off !!!!

FOOD - There was always plenty of choice of food, my friend is a bit fussy with her food but she always found plenty to eat.
BREAKFAST, freshly made omelettes, fried, boiled scrambled eggs, bacon ,sausage, hash browns, toast cereal, selection of meats, cheese, bread, fruit etc.
LUNCH, To be honest we did'nt have lunch at the hotel too often as we were generally quite full from breakfast but there was plenty on offer. Lots of salads, pasta, chicken, beef, potatoes, rice, veg, an assortment of cakes and ice cream etc.
TEA, Once again plenty to choose from, they also had theme nights eg. Thai, Spanish, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, French but if you didnt like any of this food, there was also plenty of other choices. We couldnt complain at all. There was also a snack bar by the pool area which was open from 10am-5pm then 10pm-6am where you could get the usual burgers, hotdogs, nuggets, fries, salads, friuts etc.
There are 2 other restaurants there too, where you had to book to eat. But we did'nt try them because a few people had said that they were not very good and you also had to pay for your wine and certain meals, which we thought was a bit unfair considering it was an all inc. hotel.

POOL - IT was o.k but a bit on the small side, we spent most of the days on the beach. They did play a few pool games and bingo, which was a laugh !!!!

BEACH - The part of the beach at the hotel is by far the best along the stretch, large white sandy area and flat sandy bottomed sea, further along was quite rocky with not as much sand area, also beware of the sea it can get quite rough but they do have lifeguards at the hotel and along the stretch, we did see on 3 different occassions the lifeguard have to go into the sea to rescue people.

ENTERTAINMENT - Could have been a bit better. Mainly a few shows, Mexican Night, 60's 70's and 80's night, Karaoke and live band nights, which was the same band each time, which got a little boring. They did have a Casino Night which was really good fun. You played with pretend money and then with your winnings, at the end of the night they held an auction where you could bid for items like T- shirts, bags, etc. A good laugh !!!

BARS - 2 bars in the hotel, not too bad to get a drink but there are also waitresses who will go from table to table to take your orders, we found that a small tip goes a long way, try the cocktail list, you wont be disappointed, the Pina Coladas are gorgeous. Theres also the pool bar as well from 10am-5pm.

TRIPS - Can be quite expensive.
We went on the Captain Hook Pirate Ship which was a really good night and the food was excellent. We also went to Wet & Wild and swam with the dolphins. To be honest the waterpark was a bit disappointing and the food was awful, it was much better for the kids than adults but the dolphin experience was what made the holiday for us. 45 mins in the water with the dolphins and they take photos and a video but they are very expensive, but you dont have to buy if you dont want to.
We did book a trip to Chichen Itza but unfortunately this trip was cancelled due to the Swine Flu outbreak which came to light during our 2nd week there, but it did'nt spoil our holiday.

BUSES - Theres a bus stop right outside the hotel, they run 24 hrs a day every couple of minutes to take you downtown, only 8 peso's where ever you go.

Downtown was very lively, lots of clubs, bars, shops, market, , we also managed to see some crocodiles at a lagoon bar in the crocodile zone and when your on the beach at the hotel if you take a walk to the to the end of the beach towards your right you will come to lots of rocks, walk across these rocks and you will see lots of iguanas, some of which were quite large, trouble is you can hardly see them at first, its not until you find your stood right next to one, that you realise that they are there, they just blend in with the rocks so well, i had quite a fright on a few occassions !!! but they didnt bother at all.

We would also like to mention one of the porters " VICTOR ", he is a lovely man, very helpful and always smiling " Hello Victor "
And also, " GABRIEL", who worked around the snack bar , pool bar and beach area. This man never stopped. on the go continuously, yet he always had a smile and time to have a little joke with everyone, " Hello Gabriel ".

If you would like a good value all inc. holiday with a gorgeous beach, glorious weather, great staff, good selection of food and you dont try to be POSH !!!!, then go to the Hotetur Beach Paradise and you wont be disappointed, we certainly was'nt , we would go back tomorrow if we could, but theres always next year.

If you want to go away to pick and moan then i would suggest you stay at home.
A holiday is what you make it. See you next year Beach Paradise.

The staff at the hotel is great but the hotel and its management are terrible. A/C is terrible rooms are hot !!!!! Had to go to Walmart and buy fans. The food is so so but they serve the same thing at every meal. Be careful at frontbesk they will screw you!!!!!! The drinks are horrible, beer and dirty monkey drink were the only drinks that were good. The pool could use some cleaning, it had green slime at water line. The beach had cigarette butts in the sand, next to lounge chairs and they never cleaned or rake beach, but neighboring hotels raked beaches daily.

We stayed at the Hotetur Beach Paradise from 5/14/09-5/18/09...right at the height of the "swine flu" panic. People back home thought that we were crazy for going through with our trip...but in my opinon it was the best time to travel. The airport was a ghost town, went through customs and security and were out of the airport within 10 minutes of our arrival (which I'll probably never see again in this lifetime!). The buses and taxis were readily available at all times, since there were barely any tourists around. We never had to wait for a table or a drink, or search for a lounge chair by the beach or pool...it was like having our own private island during our trip, and it was PERFECT. The Hotetur beach paradise was just about empty, there were only 60 guests staying in the hotel while we were there--including our group of 6 in our 20's and 30's...so our guest experience may have been different than a normal hotel stay at the establishment.

Overall, we were very pleased with our experience in this hotel. The hotel is certainly not a 5-star luxury resort, but was still clean and very pretty. The beach at this location is great, actually larger and nicer than some of the beaches at the "upscale" resorts. This particular hotel is located at the southern end of the "hotel zone", so it is kind of far away from the restaurants, bars and shopping--which was ideal for us, we enjoyed the tranquility. However, the action is a quick (and very cheap) bus ride away if that is your preference. The front desk and the concierge staffs are both extremely friendly and helpful. Being young singles, we were fortunate enough not to be haggled about the timeshares,as was stated in some of the other reviews.

Our reservation was for a standard room, but since there were so many vacancies we were able to upgrade to an oceanview balcony room. Another couple in our group were also upgraded to an oceanview suite at no exta cost. The rooms are sparse, but very bright and clean. As other reviews have stated, the air conditioning in the guest rooms could use some improvement. But we just left our balcony doors open while we were in the room and the ocean breeze compensated just fine (much better than musty air conditioning anyway, in my opinion). After all, we didn't spend much time in our rooms other than to shower and sleep.

Since there were hardly any guests staying in the hotel during our visit, the Italian and Mediterranean restaurants were not open, our only dining option was the buffet. The Sports bar was also closed during our stay, only the pool bar and lobby bar were open. We were disappointed that we didn't get to try out the other restaurants, but we enjoyed the food at the buffet and snack bar. There were a few picky eaters in our party, but everyone was able to find something they liked each day (the buffet had a different "theme" each night--Asian, Italian, Mexican, Seafood, etc). The service in the restaurant was excellent, the staff is very attentive and goes out of their way to make sure that the guests have fun.

The same goes for the bartenders at the lobby and pool bars, they're very energetic and funny and make excellent drinks. The entertainment staff did a great job as well, the Mayan show that we saw was very good, and Casino Night looked like a lot of fun (but I was too drunk and tired to make it). The Karaoke nights were also very entertaining, and they offered trips to different clubs from the hotel each night. They worked very hard to maintain a fun and exciting environment despite the fact that the hotel was practically deserted. Unfortunately, many of the daytime activities were cancelled (archery, Latin dance lessons, etc) simply because there were no guests around to participate. This too was a little disappointing, but couldn't be helped. There was also a marina directly across the street that offered complimentary kayaks, snorkeling and windsurfing for hotel guests, which I thought was great.

We also took the Islander Tour to Isla Mujeres during our stay, and had a fantastic time. The tour is a great value for the money and a lot of fun. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking all tours or excursions through CancunWithMe.com, the prices were MUCH better than the ones offered in the hotel, and the knowledge and customer service FAR EXCEEDS any other tour company available online. I simply cannot praise this company enough! :)
We also booked our hotel transfers via USA Transfers. I reccomend this company as well, they were punctual and very friendly.

I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat--especially if I got another deal like the one we had on this particular trip. I've been to Cancun many times, and this trip was by far the best I've had. I would much rather use the extra money to shop,or have a blast on a tour, than spend it on one of the "fancier" hotels.

we went to celebrate our anniversary. there was a promotion for a free upgrade. We got upgraded to an awesome ocean view with floor to ceiling windows it was pretty awesome listening to the waves at night with the windows open. Seriously my most relaxing vacation. I always think about it. However, when coming here you cannot expect 5 stars or anything. There was not a lot of variety for the food but it was decent. Besides if you want to try local cuisine go into the city. If you do not expect too much this hotel will be good for you.

My boyfriend and I went down to Mexico (5/19-5/24) despite the Swine Flu. We're from NYC, where there are apparently more cases of the Swine Flu than Mexico, so we figured we'd go. We read over some reviews prior to the trip and had hopes for a good trip. There were only a handful of negative ones, while the rest applauded the hotel for being worthwhile for the budget seekers. I cannot stress how disappointed we were with the hotel. Because of the extensive media coverage on the Swine Flu, the hotel was only at 30% occupancy and therefore decided to open the buffet only. Both the Italian and Mediterranean restaurants were closed until further notice. The food at the buffet was the WORST food I've ever had. It's the same meal every day. If the food isn't fried, it's drowned in butter. There are flies everywhere. We ate out all of the 5 nights we were there. If you value air conditioning, this is not the hotel for you. We were given a room with 2 double beds, and my boyfriend and I seriously contemplated sleeping on separate beds because the heat was unbearable. When we complained about the air conditioning, the answer was always "we will send someone to work on it." We asked at least 8 other rooms if theirs was just as bad, and they were. The so called air conditioning doesn't even amount to a small fan on high. The bathrooms have no vents, so your room is always moist from the shower and the humidity in the air. The hotel is old and smells of mold. The only positive thing I can say about Beach Paradise was the enthusiasm of the entertainment staff by the pool and the helpful Guest Services staff, namely Hanzi. Hanzi made all of our dinner reservations each night. Bottom line: spend a little more and go elsewhere. We wouldn't stay at Beach Paradise again, even if it were free.
