What can I say that hasn't been written here already?
I booked this week months ago after reading the reviews posted on tripadvisor. I always kept up on the postings. In Feb, I was a little concerned as there were several not so good reviews. I even contacted the resort with my concerns. Elizabeth, in PR, returned my emails and assured me I would not be disappointed.
Apparently, there were some LeBlanc guests that were extremely difficult to please. I just don't understand it! We did not have any of the problems that previous reviewers have mentioned.
My husband and I stayed at LeBlanc the week of 3/17. Due to major snow storms, our 3/17 flight was cancelled from Newark NJ to Cancun.
We were devastated! Somehow the airline worked it out for us.
We flew to Cleveland, then Houston, and finally Cancun. We left our home at 5 a.m. and checked in LeBlanc by 10 p.m. After a very long day, check in service was very friendly, hassle free, and only took a few minutes. (Yes received the towels and drinks - but what is the big deal about that? Many resorts I've been to have that service......Everyone writes about it...)
We had an ocean view room and loved it. Sunday as we checked out the facilities, we did notice that the resort was not sold out. No problems what-so-ever with obtaining pool or beach chairs - which was a first for us! No reservations needed for any restaurant and last minute spa reservations were no problem.
As previous guests have written, yes LeBlanc is spotless! The hotel is very beautiful and well kept.
The food was delicious - and I am a food snob. We dined in each of the restaurants and never had a bad meal.
We ate at the breakfast buffet every morning, and each day I was able to have something different from the day before. The trays are constantly replenished. As an example, I took a couple of pieces of cheese from a cheese tray and 10 minutes later went back up for more and the two pieces were replaced!
We only went to this buffet for lunch once as most days we were still full from breakfast. I did see large steaks, shrimp, crab claws, and calamari just to mention a few items of many! This was just lunch!
The gourmet dinner was very nice. Oriental had a large selection and sushi was very good. We ate at the Italian twice and one night lobster tails were served. The wine list was nice and ordered a bottle w/ every dinner. No complaints.
We never touched the liquor dispensers in our room. After so many drinks at the pools, we didn't need more. Pool service was excellent, bottles of water were replaced without asking, ashtrays cleaned, etc. Thanks so much Hector!
Most of the other guests were couples. It would have been nice to hook up with other couples in the evening - but most stayed to themselves. At the end of the week, we did meet another couple from NJ - they were a riot. It was poker night - with not much interest - and we talked the hotel employee who was the designated "dealer" to change to blackjack. We couldn't bet with real money though.
Every night in the small bar area, an activity was planned. Blackjack night, dancing lessons, etc. There was just a handful of people participating.
The spa was one of the best spas I have visited. It is expensive, but you can get a spa credit if you attend palace resort's vacation club presentation. I will get into that later. I had a pedicure one day, eye facial the next, and finally an 80 min. couple's massage.
The couple's massage was over $400.00, but it was the best massage I have had. I highly recommend.
If you go to LeBlanc, your package includes two excursions. We loved the resort so much, we really didn't want to leave for a whole day. We had been to Cancun previously and did visit Tulum and an archeological park, so just signed up for the Island Tour. ISLA MUJERES. A bus picks you up in the morning and takes you to the ferry terminal, where you will wait for other buses arriving from the other Palace Resorts. Finally, you board the party boat for a 45-60 min ride to the island and Palace Resort's beach club. On the boat you can sign up for different activities which are Not included. Swimming w/ dolphins, snorkeling, scuba, boat tours, etc. On our previous trip, we did take a ferry to this island by ourselves, rented scooters and explored the island. We had such a great time, we thought we could do that again, so didn't sign up for any activities. When we arrived at the beach club, it was disappointing. There is construction going on right next door and is very noisy. The beach club did not have a sandy beach and the water was full of seaweed / algea. There was no place to rent scooters so we were pretty much stuck there until the other excursions returned.
The boat does not return back to Cancun after this. Next stop is "downtown for shopping". The tour hosts really push the shopping, and of course, specific jewelry stores. We walked around, but there really wasn't much there. Then finally back to Cancun. The tour hosts were pretty entertaining and actually funny (with Michael Jackson/Batman skits) during the ride back. The drinks flowed freely and the guests seemed to have had a good time. Personally, next time I doubt we will book any free excursions.
Now on to the vacation club presentation. My husband and I have traveled to many places where we were approached by timeshare/vacation club salespeople. We have always said "no", so we have never experienced the sales pitch before. We agreed to attend the 90 minute presentation at the Cancun Palace because we wanted to see the other resort and well....... of course the spa credit was the best incentive haha. The Cancun Palace just re-opened and is very nice. We were shown the presidential suites and treated very nicely. We had a personal guide who gave us a private tour. Afterwards, we were brought into this room where the sales pitch started. It was crowded and loud and reminded me of the stock exchange without all the papers on the floor! When a salesperson made a sale, an announcement was made and everyone hooted and hollered with applause. Too make a long story short........ if you are interested........ and yes they offer many incentives.........say no a few times. It is just like making a deal for a new car........ The "boss" finally takes over and offers more incentives. It def. was an experience!
We did venture out to Moon Palace one night as we heard they have a "mini casino" with a sports book and some slot machines. This resort was huge. They have two areas and a bus runs from one lobby to the other. This "mini casino" was really a joke. The slot machines really aren't slots, but somehow connected to bingo. That is probably how the resort got past the no gambling laws.
We did not go out to any of the night clubs or other restaurants in Cancun. LeBlanc was so nice and relaxing, we did not want to leave.
Checkout went smoothly. There were long lines at the airport - yes you have to be there 2.5 - 3 hours in advance. Some people we spoke to waited 2 hours in the first line just to check their bags. The airport is nice. Plenty of seats, stores, etc.
Our vacation was wonderful. We will return next March for another relaxing week at LeBlanc.
