As mentioned in several reviews, I was one of the guest within the group of 10 that had quite an awful time during our vacation. I wanted to reiterate several pieces of the story to make sure they are clear.
1. We were not at any time given a courtesy call about the group that was coming in "during our stay". I do not care if it affects my stay by one day, two days, or my entire vacation - I expect what I paid for and I did not receive it!!! The least they could do is call. At that point we could have canceled the trip or changed our location to make sure that the 4 nights we were there were good ones. Instead they decided they had our money and obligate us to make a decision - the least of two evils, deal with the kids, no alcohol, kosher food or inconvenience us in the middle of our trip to re-pack and move to a downgraded hotel (with no compensation).
2. We were "forced" to sign a paper during our check in with misinformation about what was happening. Not given clear information on when they were arriving, what was changing, and what are options were - leave or stay. They did not tell us there would be no alcohol, until one of us asked. They told us a couple of families would be checking in on Sunday with the majority on Monday (well in actuality there were TONS of families and KIDS checked in on Sunday morning). We were told the Kosher food would not start until Monday - well in actuality it all started Sunday morning.
3. When we approached the front desk manager about the situation, he clearly was not concerned. The statement he kept giving us was "we offered you a change to Sun Palace" (as though they are equivilant in status or price and it was comparable). HA! He treated us like we were young spring breakers that he could pull a fast one on us. I made it clear that we were all highly professional guests that were not going to let this go and that he and Le Blanc will regret the way they treated us and all the other guest.
4. I also want to include the fact that the 10 of us are just one group of many that were impacted by this. All week everyone was complaining about the situation they were put in and none of us paid the amount of money we did to be treated that way. We know that many will not go to the extreme that we have to make a statement, but we hope that our voices are enough to make an impact.

Our intent in this matter is to bring attention to the "non-visible" issues that occur. Yes Le Blanc is beautiful and the employees are great, but only if there are no problems. The second there is an issue, management turns their back and does not react. What I expect from a 5 star hotel is 5 star service. That means, First and foremost to not be put in this predicament. Second, to expect a call at home, not be told at the time when I'm ready to start a worry free vacation. Third, apologies beyond belief for the inconvenience. Fourth, compensated for the inconvenience - any other "reliable" resort who is concerned about their guests would have never let this gone this far - it would have been dealt with from day 1 (offer me complimentary spa services, comp me one night for the inconvenience, get me an oceanfront room (by the way we had to fight for an ocean view (which is not ocean front) room b/c they had "prepared the rooms for the group that was coming in").

May this be the start to an overhaul of Le Blanc's customer service.

The people who just got their reservation cancelled.... So sorry to hear. We were there from March 20-27 and the whole place was talking about an Arabian Family that had rented the whole place for a week for a family gathering. This is rare and it only speaks of the excellence that a family is willing to pay top dollar for the whole place. I am sure they will make it up to you.

I found the whole experience at Le Blanc, excellent. The only I had was the surprise that steam room is extra $$$. I showed the manager the web site showing that it was free, and they honored that. I paid for the spa services only.

The pools were wonderful and beautiful. The service pool side was great. The hotel was 1/3 booked when we were there, so we were treated like royalty.

We enjoyed the restaurants. Did the chinese, international (3 nights), room service (2 nights), italian (1night) nothing 1 night. Too much food most days. The morning and lunch buffets were excellent. Lots of choice.

Spa and Gym....Excellent. Take the pilates class. I was thrilled to have private lessons.

Linens and Rooms/ Beautiful 1000 thread count sheets with pillows of your choice plus down pillows.

Flags: If there are red flags, stay OUT OF THE WATER. 3 people were dragged out of the ocean, barely breathing. The currents are strong. Pay attention to the color of the flag, and don't think you are bigger than the current...

Time Share: If you value your time, don't go. We went, knowing that we would no be buying.... took 2.5 hours and we got $300 US in spa money.... Not bad....

Drinks, Entertainment./ Go to the lounge before dinner and after dinner. Some great signing, magic and harp the week we were there.

Any questions??? I would love to help

After laboring over where to spend my 40th birthday and my 15th wedding anniversary, I settled on Le Blanc Spa. I based my decision on trip reviews and wanted a place I could get to easily from Boston.

The previous review warned against them canceling your trip. We were there when this was all taking place. The day we were scheduled to leave - everyone had to leave. They were being relocated to different hotels, because a group was coming in to take over the entire resort - 600 people in the 260 rooms. Apparently Le Blanc could not pass up the money or opportunity since they were not that full to begin with. I am not sure how long ago this group booked, but I did feel bad for those that had to move. They were compensated nicely, but still the hassle and no resort could compare to Le Blanc, so I can imagine it was difficult. Who could ever anticipate something like this, but I'd be willing to bet Le Blanc won't let it happen again - too many complaints. Please don't let it stop you from going - it's an experience you don't want to miss. That being said, I would do your homework and check into who else will be at the resort while you are there and at what capacity are they expecting to be, etc. There were no large groups there during our stay. So many factors can effect your experience.

My expectations were very high and I hoped some of the diappointing comments that I read about on this website would not be the case while I was at Le Blanc. Well, Le Blanc couldn't have been more spectacular. If you take all the wonderful experiences of previous reviewers and put them together - that was our experience. Incredible! None of the other previous travelers concerns about check-in, maintenance, crowds or noise entered into our 4 night get-away. It was perfect.

Check-in was seamless. We were greeted with a cool towel and wonderful coconut drink. We had an ocean view room on the 8th floor (There are 9 floors total. The 9th floor is all suites). We were introduced to our butler right away. The mini bar was stocked with liquor, soda, water, juice and plenty of snacks. They restocked every day. We loved our room and the view as well as the in-room jacuzzi.

Many of the beaches in Cancun are eroding away. Le Blanc has a beautiful beach. The undertow is a bit strong and the waves rough, but we loved swimming in the beautiful blue waters. As soon as we stepped foot on the beach we were greeted by someone who put towels on our chairs and a waitress wanting to serve us one of their many frozen drinks. The staff was soooo friendly and attentive our entire stay.

I could write forever, but the entertainment was top-notch. The spa incredible. You do get one visit to the spa and hydrotherapy area free of charge with your stay. Take advantage of this 45 minutes of luxury. It was wonderful and so peaceful and tranquil. The gym had better equipment than our health club at home. We worked out every day. The instructors will hold exercise classes for you anyday, anytime - you choose. They had Yoga, pilates, spinning, circuit training - awesome!

Our experience could not have been any better. To our luck, the hotel was only about 25% of capacity - so I am sure that effected our experience. There were more employees than there were guests. It was all couples - I did not see any "girls trips" or "guys trips" and it was so romantic, I can't imagine going their without your partner or spouse.

We've stayed at many hotels and romantic spots, but this was by far our best trip. So happy we went!!

If you like service, then Le Blanc is the resort to go to in Cancun. My fiance and I stayed at the resort in February 2006, which was during the Hurricane Wilma clean-up. We were originally booked at the Riu Caribe, but were moved to Le Blanc at no charge. We stayed at the Riu Caribe in April 2005, and the both of us prefer that resort slightly over Le Blanc.

Unfortunately, during our stay the beach was washed away after the hurricane, so we were stuck with just the hotel's pools. Even though there was no beach, the pools were always quiet.

Now, depending on what you like as a "service level" on your vacation, you may or may not like your stay at Le Blanc. We generally like "self-service" with assistance when required (such as buffets, self-serve drinks and walk-up bars) but at Le Blanc, staff will constantly bug you around the pool every 10 minutes if you want some food, something to drink, etc. I found it to be a little too much for my liking, but then again, others may enjoy that level of service.

Our room was on the bottom floor, and was excellent. Compared to the Riu Caribe, the room size is about the same, but had added modern touches such as a multi-head shower, whirlpool tub, and modern art.

The food at Le Blanc ranged from poor to excellent depending on the dishes. The worst food was the chicken wings, which were served refrigerated, and the steaks in the evenings were excellent. Breakfast was OK, but didn't have the selection of the Riu Caribe.

We paid $1500 Canadian from Kitchener each for this vacation for one week, (originally for the Riu Caribe) and were not disappointed. I would not have paid more then $2000 to go back again for a week.

What can I say that hasn't been written here already?

I booked this week months ago after reading the reviews posted on tripadvisor. I always kept up on the postings. In Feb, I was a little concerned as there were several not so good reviews. I even contacted the resort with my concerns. Elizabeth, in PR, returned my emails and assured me I would not be disappointed.

Apparently, there were some LeBlanc guests that were extremely difficult to please. I just don't understand it! We did not have any of the problems that previous reviewers have mentioned.

My husband and I stayed at LeBlanc the week of 3/17. Due to major snow storms, our 3/17 flight was cancelled from Newark NJ to Cancun.
We were devastated! Somehow the airline worked it out for us.
We flew to Cleveland, then Houston, and finally Cancun. We left our home at 5 a.m. and checked in LeBlanc by 10 p.m. After a very long day, check in service was very friendly, hassle free, and only took a few minutes. (Yes received the towels and drinks - but what is the big deal about that? Many resorts I've been to have that service......Everyone writes about it...)

We had an ocean view room and loved it. Sunday as we checked out the facilities, we did notice that the resort was not sold out. No problems what-so-ever with obtaining pool or beach chairs - which was a first for us! No reservations needed for any restaurant and last minute spa reservations were no problem.

As previous guests have written, yes LeBlanc is spotless! The hotel is very beautiful and well kept.

The food was delicious - and I am a food snob. We dined in each of the restaurants and never had a bad meal.
We ate at the breakfast buffet every morning, and each day I was able to have something different from the day before. The trays are constantly replenished. As an example, I took a couple of pieces of cheese from a cheese tray and 10 minutes later went back up for more and the two pieces were replaced!
We only went to this buffet for lunch once as most days we were still full from breakfast. I did see large steaks, shrimp, crab claws, and calamari just to mention a few items of many! This was just lunch!

The gourmet dinner was very nice. Oriental had a large selection and sushi was very good. We ate at the Italian twice and one night lobster tails were served. The wine list was nice and ordered a bottle w/ every dinner. No complaints.

We never touched the liquor dispensers in our room. After so many drinks at the pools, we didn't need more. Pool service was excellent, bottles of water were replaced without asking, ashtrays cleaned, etc. Thanks so much Hector!

Most of the other guests were couples. It would have been nice to hook up with other couples in the evening - but most stayed to themselves. At the end of the week, we did meet another couple from NJ - they were a riot. It was poker night - with not much interest - and we talked the hotel employee who was the designated "dealer" to change to blackjack. We couldn't bet with real money though.

Every night in the small bar area, an activity was planned. Blackjack night, dancing lessons, etc. There was just a handful of people participating.

The spa was one of the best spas I have visited. It is expensive, but you can get a spa credit if you attend palace resort's vacation club presentation. I will get into that later. I had a pedicure one day, eye facial the next, and finally an 80 min. couple's massage.
The couple's massage was over $400.00, but it was the best massage I have had. I highly recommend.

If you go to LeBlanc, your package includes two excursions. We loved the resort so much, we really didn't want to leave for a whole day. We had been to Cancun previously and did visit Tulum and an archeological park, so just signed up for the Island Tour. ISLA MUJERES. A bus picks you up in the morning and takes you to the ferry terminal, where you will wait for other buses arriving from the other Palace Resorts. Finally, you board the party boat for a 45-60 min ride to the island and Palace Resort's beach club. On the boat you can sign up for different activities which are Not included. Swimming w/ dolphins, snorkeling, scuba, boat tours, etc. On our previous trip, we did take a ferry to this island by ourselves, rented scooters and explored the island. We had such a great time, we thought we could do that again, so didn't sign up for any activities. When we arrived at the beach club, it was disappointing. There is construction going on right next door and is very noisy. The beach club did not have a sandy beach and the water was full of seaweed / algea. There was no place to rent scooters so we were pretty much stuck there until the other excursions returned.
The boat does not return back to Cancun after this. Next stop is "downtown for shopping". The tour hosts really push the shopping, and of course, specific jewelry stores. We walked around, but there really wasn't much there. Then finally back to Cancun. The tour hosts were pretty entertaining and actually funny (with Michael Jackson/Batman skits) during the ride back. The drinks flowed freely and the guests seemed to have had a good time. Personally, next time I doubt we will book any free excursions.

Now on to the vacation club presentation. My husband and I have traveled to many places where we were approached by timeshare/vacation club salespeople. We have always said "no", so we have never experienced the sales pitch before. We agreed to attend the 90 minute presentation at the Cancun Palace because we wanted to see the other resort and well....... of course the spa credit was the best incentive haha. The Cancun Palace just re-opened and is very nice. We were shown the presidential suites and treated very nicely. We had a personal guide who gave us a private tour. Afterwards, we were brought into this room where the sales pitch started. It was crowded and loud and reminded me of the stock exchange without all the papers on the floor! When a salesperson made a sale, an announcement was made and everyone hooted and hollered with applause. Too make a long story short........ if you are interested........ and yes they offer many incentives.........say no a few times. It is just like making a deal for a new car........ The "boss" finally takes over and offers more incentives. It def. was an experience!

We did venture out to Moon Palace one night as we heard they have a "mini casino" with a sports book and some slot machines. This resort was huge. They have two areas and a bus runs from one lobby to the other. This "mini casino" was really a joke. The slot machines really aren't slots, but somehow connected to bingo. That is probably how the resort got past the no gambling laws.

We did not go out to any of the night clubs or other restaurants in Cancun. LeBlanc was so nice and relaxing, we did not want to leave.

Checkout went smoothly. There were long lines at the airport - yes you have to be there 2.5 - 3 hours in advance. Some people we spoke to waited 2 hours in the first line just to check their bags. The airport is nice. Plenty of seats, stores, etc.

Our vacation was wonderful. We will return next March for another relaxing week at LeBlanc.
