First of all I would like to say that I am a member of RCI and this was a last minute trip. The location of the hotel is the best feature. It is less than a one minute walk to the heart of the party zone in Cancun.
As for the hotel. We checked in through their sales staff from the resort. When we got off the plane a person from the Cancun Palace approached us and got us to go on a tour. They gave us an offer we could not refuse, free golf, swimming with dolphins, massages, and an all inclusive day on Isla Mujeres. The staff at Krysal agreed to match our offer if we did the 90 minute tour at thier facility. We agreed to save the travel time to Cancun Palace. After an hour we were in the room.
The room was in the OLD section and was in desperate need of updating. As we entered the room I walked to the window to look at the view and on the floor was the biggest bug I had ever scene. The sales person who brought us to our room, saw the bug as I kicked it into the open. Her eyes opened like it was Christmas morning and turned and walked away. The TV did not work . The shower would go from ice cold to scalding hot and the bed was like sleeping on a rock.
The pool area was large and the beach was non-existant. You were able to access a public beach a few minutes away but I did not travel with a beach chair so we stayed on the resort and only walked the beach a few times. The food was edible and the drinks were ok. We choose not to go all inclusive and was cheaper going out to eat at the local restaurants.
As fro the sales pitch. WATCH OUT. I'm still trying to figure out how legal their practices are but they would not take no for an answer. After the 3 hour tour. We final walked out. And then the fun began. The sales lady who agreed to match our offer from Cancun Palace began to cry and said she could not afford to comp us everything. We ended up fighting with managers and other sales staff and finally just gave up. The manager stated that if we bought into their resort they would be happy to give us what they agreed to, but since we didn't we were out of luck. They did comp us the dolphin swim, which was excellent.
So if your looking for a cheap no frills resort for a few days this place would be sufficient. However it is not even close to the gold crown standards it claims to be.

I have to put in a positive review in light of the number of recent negative reviews. My husband and I stayed at the Krystal Cancun the last week of February and had a very relaxing week. We found the staff to be very attentive, courteous and hard working. While we wish we had more restaurant opportunities at the hotel and was disappointed that apparently Bogart's is no more, we were within walking distance of several choices. We had already researched this hotel and knew that the hurricane had taken the beach - since there was plenty of deck space that was not a problem. We stayed in the old tower on the top floor and did not have the noise issues reported. While we could hear the disco music, it did not keep us up and just added to the festive atmosphere of our time away from the cold Minnesota weather.

We had a great room, king bed, balcony on 7th floor corner, great view. Until we went to bed. Forget sleeping. That great corner room got all the noise from all the clubs until 5am. We slept every night with kleenex in our ears just to muffel the noise.
Service was a joke. Room was supposed to have a coffee maker everytime I asked for one they would talk to the supervisor and tell me it was on it's way. The bellboy told me they don't have any for the new part of the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was OK. Evening buffet was outside in the wind, some tables inside if you were lucky.
We took the voucher for El Montoro resturant a short walk away, very nice.
Had to be careful that the door to our room closed because the latch would stick. Came back one evening and saw the room next to us was dark and door wide open.
Showering--- water would just go off. This was the new part of the hotel.
We used the safe in the room, but somehow left our camera in a zipped suitcase and it was stolen suitcase was unzipped.
Bar tenders would get half our order then wait on someone else and just forget us.
Then have to wait an additional 5 minutes to sign the tab and we where all inclusive.
Even had to wait to sign the tab for a snack.
We did'nt know it was spring break as many people we spoke with didn't know either and would never have booked the trip.
It was important for us to be on a beach which the pictures showed. There is NO beach.
No shade around the pool except for one small cover which we where able to get under on the last day.
Pool dirty, spa dirty and cold. No inside place to dine for dinner. No sleep. Yes it was right in town if town is what you go to Cancun for. We went for relaxation, the beach and ocean, warm sand, service when we want a beverage, food even isn't a big deal for us but this food just wasn't good.
I defintely would not go back to this place or even hotel zone.

Ok here's the deal the hotel is clean, They are very nice when you go to the front desk, But if you are all inclusive and you try and get a drink. THEY WILL NOT SERVE YOU!!! You can't even get eye contact unless you have a $5.00 bill in your hand, which you end up paying $5.00 a drink every time you go to the bar. They do not know what all inclusive means. You have to pay for beach towels if you don't bring them back every day and check out a new one everyday, Thay all want tips for EVERYTHING they do. NO BEACH!

i really liked this hotel. check-in was fairly easy. stayed in the new tower- rooms were really clean with nice, modern decor. the bed was very comfortable with crisp, clean sheets and a nice fluffy duvet. tv was flat screen and had cable (but mostly in spanish- disney and nickelodeon all dubbed in spanish, for those with kids). i liked the rain shower head in the bathroom even though the half-open shower left the floor wet and the toiletries included lotion, shampoo, face and body soap, shower cap, sewing kit, and first aid kit. the pools, lounge chairs, and general area were clean from what i could see. check-out was pretty easy, too.

but then again...
after reading all the recent negative reviews, i don't have much to complain about because i wasn't all-inclusive, didn't eat on site, never went to the bar, didn't swim in the pools, didn't need service or maintenance, and didn't care about the beach. we used the hotel to shower and sleep. and, yes, the walls are thin. i could here our next door neighbor pop open a can of soda and you can hear the footsteps down the hall but neither myself, boyfriend, or best friend (who stayed in another room) had any problems sleeping. there was a 2 hour blackout after midnight the first night we were there (March 7th). i was sleeping, it bugged the bf since he was watching tv at the time. and even though i put the 'do not disturb' sign on our door, housekeeping came into our room and cleaned and replaced our toiletries and towels anyway. not that big of a deal to me.

so, if you're like me- not picky and need an affordable, beautiful, clean property in a great location to sleep and shower in, i highly recommend the nh krystal. enjoy my pics of the hotel!
