So much Negativity, it's really not that bad. I think those of you who had a negative experience bother to write on Trip Advisor, and those people who had a good experience just carry on with life and don't think about writing about it.

Ok, so you will know that there is no swimmable beach at the front of the hotel. Big deal, takes 1 minute to walk to where you can swim, or jump on the bus for $0.70 and go to plenty of beautiful beaches.
The location was perfect if you are a social butterfly, if not you can hang around the pool drink and enjoy the sun or walk down the beach and find a volleyball game. We were in the new building, our room/view was spectacular and housekeeping was excellent everyday our rooms were clean. But to be honest, I didn't go to Mexico to hang out in my room. Outside staff always were walking around asking if you needed something to drink or eat ~ the pools were clean, and yes I actually saw them being cleaned ~ If I didn’t mention we were at the hotel during spring break. IT'S BUSIEST TIME. I saw the hotel manager walking around on a number of occasions smiling at and nodding at customers.

Breakfasts were fine, fresh omelettes, fruit, muffins, toast, pancakes, yogurts, oatmeal, etc ~ I mean really, what are people expecting for breakfasts ~ Champagne and caviar?

Lunch as nice, everyday my husband and I eat fish and salad, all fresh ~ also had chicken dishes, rice, salads, deserts, hamburgers, fries and also some Mexican dishes everything was always fresh ~ Least we thought so. Better than the sandwich I have everyday at work.

Dinner was buffet style, we only ate there twice and again it was fine, fresh and hot, again I don't know what people are expecting. There was the dine-around package, which means you get vouchers to eat at lovely restaurants, such as Carlos and Charies, Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump's, etc the list is endless. And there is a Mexican restaurant next door that you can eat (and drink) it was really good.

We found the hotel staff to be very friendly, a little slow at the inside bars ~ but a nice smile and saying hello goes a long way ~ we never tipped and we received the good quality.

We hung out at the hotel for the first four days of our weeks stay and it was fine, HOT. Our only regret is that we didn't ring running shoes to work out at the gym.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, we thought it was a good value for what we paid, $1105 tx in, direct from Victoria. Location was So I don't know what all the fuss it about ~ I was full of anxiety ready these reviews before I went, once we arrived and when the week was over, I asked my husband, what the heck is all the fuss about? Thousands of people go through this hotel ~ only a few hundred have written bad reviews ~ which makes the other thousands happy customers.

Timeshare Scam - NH Krystal Resort & Rafael Septien

When we arrived, our room was in a newly renovated area right next to the Disco next door. The music shook the walls until 4:00am. Terrible!! We asked to move and they did move us to the main building which was better.

The next day we had to attend a mandatory time share presentation and we were introduced to Rafael Septien former Dallas Cowboy player from the 1978 Super Bowl team. He presented the timeshare presentation as an investment opportunity not to miss. Everything he said regarding rental history with their preferred brokers was a gross misrepresentation of facts. We were suckered in and are now left with a timeshare that has never been rented. Do Not Fall for This!!

The hotel was under construction in many area's which was annoying. We found the bartenders to be extremely helpful/responsive inside the resort. Outside, service was slow. We went in early June which was Graduation Week, so the resort was full of 18-20 year olds. I do not suggest you take a family here during this time. They are loud and offensive.

This is by no means a 5 star resort. In fact it struggles to be a 2 star! Pay a little more and go down the pennisula!! Beware the Timeshare Scam!!

I was here over spring break. The food is not very good. Had to eat at the buffet most of the time. The rooms were okay. My birkenstock sandels were stolen out of my room by the cleaning staff and the hotel would do nothing about it. There were no non motorized water sports of any kind. We got a package air and hotel for this place and now I know why it was so cheap. You get what you pay for. The best part was the location of the hotel. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

OK, so if you have read the reviews you will know that there is no swimmable beach at the front of the hotel. Big deal, takes 1 minute to walk to where you can swim, or jump on the bys for $0.70 and go to plenty of beautiful beaches.
The location was perfect if you are a socail butterfly, it is in the thick of all the action.
We were in the new part of the building so our room was spectacular, everything was new, had an oceanview and housekeeping did an excellent job. We did hear though that the older rooms werent so nice. But to be honest, I didnt go to Mexico to hang out in my room.
The breakfasts were pretty good, fresh omlettes, fruit, muffins etc and pretty good. Lunch as fairly smilar everyday, hamburgers, fries, and also some mexican dishes. Dinner was appalling. Buffet stlye, most things had seafood so I didnt go there, last thing I waned was to get sick......and not a lot of variety over the week. BUT there is a bonus, you get a dine-around package, which means you get vouchers to eat at lovely restaurants, such as Carlos and Charies ( VERY very fn and entertaining, great service and food), Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump's, etc the list is endless. And there is a Mexican restaurant next door that you can eat (and drink) as much as you like, and you can go there twice in the week. This package made up for the food being average.
Also, you can eat as much as you want of the room servce menu, 24/7, which has more variety than buffet. SO you just have to be picky and be orgnised.

Staff are very friendly, a little slow in the bars but throw them some tips and it helps.

Overall I loved staying here, location was perfect and the rooms were great...... I would think the young ones would like this maybe more than the older types that want a quiter, relaxing type of holiday. I would do t again in a nanosecond!!

I was a single traveller....
ill start with the good things about the place...
-location was in the party zone and close enough to the local bus for downtown....
-servers in buffet restaurant were willing to give me cheaper ways to travel to isla mujeures and playa de carmen....(with the locals)
-my room was cleaned every day
-food was decent and basic mexican buffet food...kinda have to know the food to order it from the chef at the buffet...
Now for the bad........
everywhere you went you had to pay in american dollars otherwise you would get ripped off.....get american dollars.....pesos are nothing.....!
-if you wanted any service at the hotel you had to tip....if they werent happy with your tip they curse at you in spanish as they walk away.....happend daily at the bar....
-had to sign for every single drink you ordered.....(dont add tip in bill you sign !pay cash for your tip and write zero for total and tip....saw some guy get screwed when he was checking out...owed 600 pesos in tips..which they filled in for him...)
-clubs are very close....and close at 5am....if you want to sleep and dont party ..this is not the hotel for you. plus when the bar closes there are drunk ppl yelling and screaming in the hallways.......at all hours.....
-clubs cost a fortune to get into(between 60-90 american$$) were overcrowed and smelt like urine and had vomit all over the walls, and there was no where to sit, 400+ ppl in bar with one exit...and ppl were openly having sex in random places....had to wait half hour for drink even though you had unlimited drink braclete you were only allowed one drink at a time...
-STAY AWAY FROM THE FLEA MARKETS....nothing cheap about them....every store tries to drag you in and offer you special deal....was a joke........
-the day trips also cost a fortune to go on...and the value is horrible.....i paid 600 pesos for the mayan ruins....was a joke.....ruins had nothing but vendors trying to rip you off...was incredibly hot....no shade anywhere....food was buffet and made me sick.....as well as others....waste time...go there on your own......
-dolphin tour was horrible....paid 125 american and had a whole 7 min with the dolphin and had to pay 60 american to get my pics because you werent allowed a camera.....
if you have money and love to tip...this is the place for you.....
i would say its very commerical and the ppl seem to have lost their culture .......everything is over priced and had some tags on the back that read "made in china"
