Hi all stayed at Omni for 1 week, awesome property, restaurants are very good, really, I am very picky. Great grill by the pool and jacuzzi bar is wonderful. Every thing was great! ONLY BIG DOWN FALL... you have to sign for everything, I read the reviews and thought, ok how bad could it be. Let me tell you its a royal pain, they hunt you down if you dont sign, and trust me, the more you tip the better service you receive. Besides that, which it really did suck, they made you feel somewhat uncomfortable that your signing a check and not leaving a tip.
Think about that. They are just as nice properties in Cancun that I would rather stay at than the Omni, Its outdated and the pool is 3.1 ft deep. Very swallow. If you like pink, pink and more pink, than stay at the omni. Didnt regret stay just would have choosen someplace else.

My family stayed at the Omni Dec 18th to Dec 24th 2003. My wife and I took our three children, ages 11, 15 and 18. Overall we had a very good time but there were some thing that were annoying. There is an overall attitude of the locals that all tourists have lots of money and it is their job to find ways to get it. There were good and bad points about the Omni. Very bothersome that upon arrival I was greeted by a hotel employee that turned into a timeshare salesman. He even had the hotel uniform on. We agree to do the breakfast presentation the next morning but when we didn't show up (wife overslept) they sent out a search party for us. They called our room multiple times (only the kids were there) and looked for up in the restaurants. We agreed to come the next day and we got free breakfast plus $100 food credit. Deal for timeshare was 1 floating week for 60 years in a studio for $17500 or $13500 if holiday weeks are not included. Thought this too expensive and have seen resale on internet for around $4000 for about 25 years. Hotel was clean and the room was nice. The pools were ok but too shallow, as others have reported. The beach is beautiful. The red flags were out for our entire stay but there was a lifeguard, so my kids and I all went in the ocean. It seemed fine to me. One day there was a strong undertow and the lifeguard kept a close watch, making people stay close in. I went a little ways down the beach (one hotel away) and the undertow was gone. Water was warm and beach was perfect. Hotel's hot tub was nice. Food was expensive and not very good. Hamburger or tacos were around $9 at Pina Colada (casual beach restaurant). Did not do all inclusive so we could eat out. Was told to try La Parrilla restaurant in downtown Cancun. We went there the last night and the food was outstanding. All other meals were ok to bad. Kids got tired of Mexican so we did the American chains for a couple meals. Side trips to Chichen Itza and snorkeling went very well. Went snorkelling just off the beach in Cancun (by Club Med) with AquaWorld. Not a bad deal. Got breakfast, lunch, snorkelling gear and got to stay on their boat most of the day (with beer and sodas being served) for about $35. Trip to Chichen Itza was good but needed more time at the site. Bus trip took a couple hours each way but they stopped at a flea market for about a half hour to try to get more money out of us. This time should have been used at the ruins. Also had a buffet dinner and took us to a park that had a huge deep sinkhole that you could swim in. The park was nice. Overall impression of Cancun was that there are too many hotels and it overbuild but was still a good vacation spot because of the great beach and you don't need to be able to speak spanish to get by. Sort of like an Americanized version of Mexico.

We had booked a reservation at another resort in Cancun and they had overbooked their rooms. We were taken to the Omni for one night because of the overbooking. We were sorry that we had to go back to the original resort the following day. We thought the Omni was extremely nice. They rooms were great, the pools were nice, and the food was excellent. We were very pleasantly surprised and happy that we had the opportunity to spend at least that one night at the Omni, and only wish that we could have spent our entire time in Cancun there.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Omni Hotel on January 2 for 7 days and the service, hotel amenities, and restaraunts were all above standards.
I highly recommend the all-inclusive package which includes all meals and drinks. The Da Vinci Restaraunt is very quaint and elegant; the food was an eclectic fusion of new world Italian and Mexican. We thought the food in any of the hotel's restaurants was excellent.

The hotel's spa was a beautiful way to wrap yourself up in luxury with a massage of any kind.

The all-inclusive package includes the gym workout access, so this was an additional plus for us. The gym has all of the free-weights, treadmills and assistory equipment for a great work-out.

The Omni caters more towards families, but for a nice-relaxing getaway it is perfect for couples who are not into getting too crazy. It was a great value for the food and hotel stay and we would definitely stay here again.

In reading all the reviews, I had a feeling we might be in for a let down. Especially, we were concerned about the food, and the "musty smell". My husband and I were completely overjoyed when we arrirved last Friday night at the Omni! Our flights were late getting in, so we arrived about midnight, local time, and immediately were greeted in the bar by wonderful margaritas. Our room was extremely clean, and room service was still running. Never once did we smell anything even close to musty. I wonder about the people who write negative reviews about this complex, however we did meet a lady who wouldn't have been happy anywhere, so keep that in mind. The food is very enjoyable, but I could see how you would tire of it after a week. We were there for 3 days, and always ordered off the menu. The buffets are not bad though. The service is absolutely the best! I can promise you, you will not find better here in the states. Pina Coladas was our favorite, with and awesome veiw, and Samuel the most attentive waiter we have ever seen. The beach is beautiful!!! Our first few days were cloudy, but with a jacuzzi bar, and some fun Canadian people we met, we sure didn't even noticed. Great time to be had at the Omni!!!
