My wife and I just returned from a week at the Omni Cancun. We were pleasantly surprised at the remarkable treatment we received from the staff. The hotel was impeccable and the food was good. The biggest surprise, though, was the vacation club. We were expecting the same high-pressure timeshare presentation that we have seen in other places, but were treated very professionally. Their plan is different than the standard timeshare program - it's really an advanced reservation system that offers a tremendous amount of discounts and VIP services. We bought a small package but will probably upgrade next time. We love it there!!!!

We stayed at the Omni from February 17 through February 25, 2004 with our good friends. When we finally arrived at the Omni after fighting our way through the hoards of people trying to sell us tours at the airport, we had the pleasure of meeting Lourdes at the Omni's registration desk. She was so warm, friendly and very helpful in finding us the right room with a beautiful view. She also found a room for our friends right next to ours. I can't say enough good things about the wonderful service and the friendly staff at the Omni.We ate a few meals at the Omni, which the restaurants were very good and the service was excellent. The price of food and beverages were as expected for a resort, a little on the high side, but no worse than any other resort area we have visited in the past or other restaurants in Cancun.The grounds at the Omni were very well manicured and spotless. The swimming pools were great, but we loved the beach at the Omni and the beautiful Caribbean to play in. We always felt safe and secure anywhere we walked at the Omni. My husband and I would definitely recommend the Omni to anyone who is looking for a wonderful hotel with great service in Cancun.

Check in was quick, we had a cold double X & were not bothered by time shares. The rooms were clean, we had a nice view from our balcony, decor was dated but who cares your in Mexico. This was the first time we did not have to change rooms at a hotel in Mexico. The beach in front of the resort is in my opinion the best on the strip. The waves were awesome, we took boards out & had a blast! Service on the beach & everywhere was great. Hint: if you respect the staff & treat them good they go out of their way to do anything for you! Especially Herbert, Carlos, Fransico, Rueben & others treated us like family. The jacuzzi bar was the best meeting place, we would venture their every day at 3:00 pm, joke with the staff & met so many nice people. The food was great, lots of variety, we loved the room service, being out in the evening it was nice to order a pizza at midnight if you were hungry (pizza was very good). The lobby bar was fun, the entertainment was the same for two weeks. It would be nice if they changed it up. We went out to some of the clubs in the evening, CoCo Bongo show & disco was fascinating. I don't care how old you are it's a must see! I can't wait to return next year!!!!

I spent Feb 20-27 at the Omni knowing that I was going to write a review on tripadvisor. Even with that critics mindset, I really founnd nothing to complain about. I got a great deal on the room from Hotwire.com. It was Not the all inclusive package. I'll discuss this.

The high points: 1. Service was great. The doormen and people at the desk were always polite and helpful. I did hear some people complain about the service at the restaurants. I didn't eat on-site but a few times, but it seemed fine on those occasions. But, other than that the service was outstanding.

2. Room was nice, large and clean.

3. There was a problem with our shower. They came into fix on day 5, saw it was going to take a while, so they moved us to a much nicer room that was oceanfront.

4. No musty odor as mentioned in other reviews.

5. Nice beach

Bad stuff:

1. The jacuzzi was cold in both the jacuzzi bar and the jacuzzi by the pool.

2. lots of kids running around screaming

3. Fat men, speedos

4. people throw tiles on prime beach chairs at 8 am and don't return until 2. There's plenty of chairs if people wouldn't do that. I don't know if the hotel can do anything about that.

5. Prices inflated at restaurants to make AI people feel like they are getting a good deal.

All Inclusive: I don't suggest doing it unless you plan on doing nothing but drinking alcohol all day. The food on site is average. But you can leave and go to all the nice restaurants around time for much cheaper. The price for AI is 90$ per day, per person. You eat breakfast/lunch/ and dinner anywhere in cancun for that.
