We went to Cancun the week of the Jan. 26, 2009, and absoluty loved every minute of it! Made us double think about returning back home in Nebraska.
Our first reaction to the hotel was "it's pink"! but not a bright pink. I thought it was cute, plus it's very easy to find because of that. It was very nice, clean, and all the people were very friendly. The only thing that drove me bananas was that the housekeeping doesn't speak english, but heck, thats the way here in the United States. Also they rearange your personal things. Like, I had my hair straightner and blow dryer on the counter, and they wraped up the cord and put in on my suitcase. They always touched my things, which kinda bothered me. But nothing was missing. Also, the waiters don't just speak spanish, but they say something in spanish first, then say it in english (which you can understand), so you learn some spanish while you're ordering your next drink.
If you are a early to bed type of person, I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel, whereas they have some type of "party" every night until 10 pm
The beach was also beautiful. Yes, like all the other reviews, it was rocky, but there were spots that you could get into the water. I'm not that woopy on oceans, so I stayed on the beach, sipping drinks, while my hubby played in the ocean.
If you're trying to decide if you should spend the extra money to get the all-inclusive...DO!!! It's worth every penny. All your food, drinks, room service, and most everything is free. You don't have to worry about how much money something costs, you don't have to carry money with you everywhere. You can order what you want off the menu and not only what you can afford. Plus, you will spend lots of US dollar just to get pesos, which everything is expensive! So, spend the extra money now, and have a VERY enjoyable, relaxed vacation.
The best part of my vacation... I got engaged!

the hotel and the pool are great. The food is good and people are very nice.
The beach is awfull. Since the 2004 hurricane, this is not a beach. This is a ROCKS FIELD. You cannot swim, you cannot bath because this is very dangerous. This is also very frustating because the water is warm and beautifull. Next time, I ll go to another part of Mexico.

We did not select all inclusive. My husband is a chef and wanted to sample lots of local restaurants so we only ate at the hotel once. It was fair/average. (Mexican theme night). However the waiters and bartenders were all excellent and welcoming. Our room was clean and pleasant and always well maintained. No complaints about any of the service or staff. However, the time share pressure is relentless to the point of harassement and would probably deter me from staying at the Omni again. It starts while you are checking in. They offer maps and tourist info and quickly start the time share pitch. We were offered $100 and respectfully and politely declined. We are not a time share couple and no amount of money or offer would be worth the sales pitch for me. The next morning our phone rang at 8:30 am offering us a free breakfast and again the time share sales pitch. Imagine a phone call on vacation at 8:30am!!!! Again we respectully declined. After the phone call decline and as we were leaving the hotel for an excurision they jumped up and started in again and upped the offer to $200. At this point I became uncomfortable and felt extremely annoyed. So, kudos to the hotel staff, waiters, bartenders, cleaning people, front desk, etc, but a great big enthusiastic thumbs down to the high pressure time share staff.

Service was excellent. Very friendly staff, especially when you treat them equally as nice. Food was decent , nothing extrodinary but good. The grounds were kept clean. Security staff was always in sight and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The beach has suffered from previous erosion and is rocky, really the only disappointment. We enjoyed our stay.

We have been coming to Cancun for the past nine years and this was our second stay at the Omni. We stayed between Jan. 22- Jan. 29. As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty. There was someone to help me out of the shuttle as soon as we pulled up and we never had to touch our bags. Check in was a breeze and David, who helped us with our bags was very informative about the hotel and the weather they had been having. By the way the weather was wonderful! It was in the lower 80’s the whole time we were there. The pool area had plenty of chairs. The entertainment staff was wonderful. Thank you Donat, Juan and Anayely for being so friendly to Richie. He actually cried when you guys sang good-bye to him. You guys are great!

The food at the Omni is superb! The buffet had a great selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, lettuce and different cheeses. Every night they had a different theme. The Italian night was our personal favorite. We highly recommend the chocolate and white chocolate cream puffs for dessert. Yum! The wait staff was great! There was always someone there to pull out my chair for me for every meal. We had at least 3 people waiting on us at each meal. We never had to wait for anything. We ate at their specialty restaurant, Da Vinci’s, twice while we were there. The food there is also superb and we highly recommend the chocolate piano cake for dessert. Another food favorite of ours was the chicken wings at the outside grill by the main pool. We also recommend the jumbo shrimp cocktail at the Pina
Colada restaurant down on the beach. They also have great hamburgers and fries.

The beach was great. There was a lot more beach area this year than last. We were able to get in and swim pretty easy without worrying about any huge rocks. I know the beach can change at anytime, but it was great when we were down there. I love the thatched roof shade areas they have on the beach and if they are all taken, one of the wonderful wait staff will be happy to set you up with an umbrella. How wonderful is that! By the way, the wait staff at the beach are just as remarkable and on the ball as the rest of them are by the pool area. We never had to wait for anything.

Our room was gorgeous. We had 2 king size beds, a beautiful view of the ocean and pool areas. We could sit on our balcony and watch the evening entertainment they had 3 of the nights we were there. And it was never late at night. The shows would start at 7:45 PM and get over about an hour later. So you never had to worry about any loud noises when you were trying to sleep. Our room was always cleaned right after lunch and our beds were turned down every night. We had a wonderful maid. Gracias from room 1845.

Check out was a breeze. I wish we didn’t have to check out, but we did. Our week was up. But we will be back.! Here is a list of people my family and I would like to thank for being so wonderful and helpful: David, Mario, Fausto, Marco, Jose, Joel, Roberto, Fredrico, Herlinda, Raquel, Angel, Enriquez, Ismael, Beatriz, Carlos, Aldo, Raul, our maid, Donat, Juan, Anayely and all the other wonderful people that work at the Omni. Gracias!
