We had an excellent time at Omni Cancun I will detail my experience below:

Booking: We booked through Priceline for $70 per night so we did not do the all-inclusive. We spent less buying our meals/drinks separately. We spent on average $50-60 per person per day for food and drinks (including tips/tax). It would have been $119 per person to purchase all inclusive.

Airport Arrival: We arrived at the airport and the customs line was long so it took about an hour to get through. We booked a transfer through Brant and they were waiting with a sign with our name on it.

Check in: Check in was smooth we were greeted by the concierge and checked in at 12:45 pm it was slightly earlier than their 3 PM check-in but we did not have to wait. Prior to arrival I sent an e-mail to Omni requesting a high floor, ocean view, with 2 double beds. They fulfilled all of my requests without any additional charges.

Omni Select guest: I would recommend to everyone staying at the Omni to sign up for the select guest program. As a select guest you get free Wi-Fi (it is usually $14.95 per day), 2 complimentary beverages every morning (coke, tea, juice, coffee, etc.), free USA today, robe, slippers, evening turn-down service. They also had extra blankets and pillows as per my select guest preferences. As part of the complementary beverages we could order small breakfast items for a reasonable charge (empanadas $2.50, Bagel $2.50, etc.)

Lobby: The lobby is lovely, there is a nice lobby bar, a sunset bar, small convenience store.

Room: We had 2 double beds, a balcony with an amazing oceanview. The decor was very nice and the room was clean. I didn't notice any noise to speak of and slept well every night. We could also see the entertainment shows from our room (they perform on M-W- F). There was a large flat screen TV. Calls to the US are $1 per minute in the room. There was a electronic safe that was big enough to fit a laptop among other items. The toiletries they provide seemed nice as well. The shower/tub had adequate water pressure.

Pools: The pools are large, uncrowded, and not too cold. They also have 2 hot tubs. You get you towels from a desk near the pools that also sells tours.

Beach: We were at the beach every day from 9am until 3pm. We sat under hut umbrellas. We never had a problem getting a spot, we tipped a gentleman a few dollars the first day and he saved us a spot every day thereafter. We did bring a cooler with a few beverages which was nice. I would recommend bringing a collapsible cooler. We had a waitress that would bring beverages or food. If a hut was not available they would put an umbrella up for you. There were Thai beds (beach beds) available for $25/day no one really used them. There are huge rocks on the shoreline and the water is not swimable.

Restaurants: We ate at La Paloma (dinner buffet) which was good, and Pina Colada on the beach (order the coconut shrimp). We also had room service which was good (vanilla ice cream was delicious)

Service: The service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly. I have never stayed in a cleaner place, they were always cleaning. We did not get harassed by time share people once.

Near-By area: There is a convenience store (royal market) across the street you can buy Coke for $0.70 beers for $1 etc. There is a bank, Subway, McDonald's, and Captain Cove restaurant across the street.

Captain Cove: Go at sunset it faces the lagoon. We had coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and flan. I would also recommend the Mexican coffee.

Check-out: Easy with no unexpected charges. Our airport transfer was on time to the minute.
Can't wait to go back, I would definitely stay here again. Excellent vacation.

We just were at the Omni for the last week and it was relaxing. We did not get the all inclusive as I had heard so many complaints about the food being the same every night. If you pay for the buffet it is $25 pp each time. That adds up, so we went out to eat a lot to be able to eat the foods we enjoy. DaVinci was great for my birthday dinner. The total bill at the end of the week was a LOT cheaper than the all inclusive and we drink on vacation. The beach is a wreck but they have started getting sand from the ocean and putting it on top of the boulders that the hurricane drug up. They have started on the opposite side of the Omni though, so not sure when it will ever be swimmable. I will go elsewhere for the beach instead of Cancun. So sad. There was one incident that left me feeling uneasy. I couldn't open the safe after returning to the room and a security guard came to help. He was fast but added that someone tried to get into it while we were out as once you have so many attempts, it will not open. I changed the code and it did not happen again. One other incident was that standing water was in the hallway leading to the bath and I fell in the middle of the night and hurt my knee badly. I am still hobbling around with a ace bandange and therapy. They had no explaination as to where the water had come from. It still remains a mystery as there was no water when we came into the room at 9PM. Not really the hotel's fault I guess but be careful on that marble! All in all a great time at the Omni and commend all the workers.

We just returned from our 9th visit to our 'Home away from Home', becoming official Vacation Club Members in 2005. We always look forward to our annual visits and while there have been some small, noticeable changes in the decor over the years, we continue to be pleased with our experience. We love to read the positive reviews of our favorite hotel, but for those who have not had a positive experience, we would like to offer a few words.

If you happen to be a beach lover, please take your request to God because Hurricane Wilma changed the beach front forever, not just at Omni, but all along the coast line. Few properties have any beach front left! The Omni is an older hotel and humidity causes a problem everywhere in Cancun. That being said, the staff at Omni has and continues to maintain their property, from the lobby right down to the waters edge.

We ALWAYS go All-Inclusive! A chocolate Martini is $12.00US and breakfast @ Pina Colada is posted as $170.00pesos (roughly $13.00US). That's already $25.00. Now add a wonderful lunch of fresh shrimp, 4 or 5 more cocktails throughout the afternoon, a nice variety of buffet choices for dinner and another nightcap in the lounge before bed, and I'd say that we get our monies worth!

You say you don't like the buffet or menu choices? Please see Enrique @ Pina Colada or Isaac @ La Paloma restaurants and tell them what you'd like and how to prepare it - they always go out of their way to see that we are satisfied!

Please spend an afternoon at the upper-level pool and laugh at the antics of Gonzo and Donat, the DJ's, while they entertain you with 'Name That Tune' and other trivia. While you're at it, swim up to Esteban - he mixes very good drinks!

Annie, with Member Services, Head-Waiter, 'Jerry Boy', and Isaac made my husband's Birthday celebration memorable with Champagne and strawberries delivered to our room, a specially prepared Birthday Cake, and a wonderful slice of Cheesecake, both delicately drizzled in chocolate with custom Birthday wishes. Few hotels would even make the effort!

As tipping goes, here in the states if we enjoy a decent meal, we are accustomed to leaving a minimum 15% gratuity. If we give a $1.00US tip for to our server for meals and drinks, based on our previous analogy, we are only tipping $10.00US a day; $70.00US for the week. Our cruise ships want a lot more than that at the end of the week! Too many visitors want something for nothing, while Employees at the Omni are honest, hard-working and gratious!

The Staff at Omni has become like family to us and we would encourage anyone to get to know them and appreciate all they do - they never disappoint us!

Omni cancun was definitely well worth the money. Overall, my 3 girlfriends and I really enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing, especially by the beach where we spent most of our time. Despite not being able to swim in the ocean, we enjoyed the great breeze and if we wanted to cool off, there was a small pool and swim up bar just a few steps from our lounges.
We got a great deal on our stay from priceline, and it came with the All-Inclusive option. We all agreed the food was very good, regardless if we ate from the buffet or the a la carte menu. The service was wonderful and the staff very accommodating. We did tip the staff very well, which was much appreciated yet not expected. We ate/drank at all the different places available on the grounds and each was very good. For our stay, the options sufficed. The nicest restaurant, Da Vinci, was especially delicious and I was quite impressed with the culinary techniques used there.
My only small complaint was that the lounges we used near the beach were not especially comfortable. I would have liked a lounge cushion. Other than that, my biggest issue was my sunburn ;-)

Had an excellent experience at the Omni. The staff were excellent, especially the bell boy, Ceasar. He was very helpful with answering our questions about Cancun. We chose this hotel for our wedding. Our wedding coordinator, Jesus Gomez, did a fabulous job. He replied to all of our emails right away, and there were lots of them. The only thing we were disappointed with was that it was too windy to have the ceremony on the beach, but Jesus had a backup plan which turned out very beautiful. We paid the extra for a photographer and are very glad we did, the pictures are gorgeous. A special thank you to Jerry Boy for the beautiful picture frame. He always made us laugh down at Kuku's Bar. We stayed in one of the villas and it was nicer than we expected. Lots of room and the beds were so soft and comfortable with an ocean view. There wasn't a lot of nightly entertainment at this resort but we didn't mind. If you are looking for night life you can hop on a bus for 7.5 pesos, 24 hours a day.
