We just recently got married in Cancun - at the Omni Hotel. It was even better than we imagined and there is nothing we would change about our experience. The service and accomodations for our guests were both fantastic and the wedding portion of our stay was perfect. My husband and I had the best experience with our wedding coordinator, Jesus Gomez at the Omni. We planned everything from Minnesota so we had to have a lot of trust in Jesus and what he arranged for us over email - and he exceeded our expecatations in every aspect!! We would highly recommend the Omni to anyone planning a destination wedding or just a regular vacation in Mexico.

This was our 5th time staying at the Omni Cancun. What a great time and we enjoyed seeing everyone again - Enrique, Carlos, Armando, David, Moises - and all the great bartenders for treating us like royalty. We are already planning our next trip!

This was our thrid stay at the OMNI. The last time was less than to be desired but we gave them another try and it was the right decision. We had a wonderful stay. I absolutely love the service and staff are very friendly. Service is out of this world, the food is wonderful! The beach is rocky, but we stayed out on the beach 2 days so it does not hinder you having a good time unless you want to run and jump in the water. You can walk in and get wet, but the water is very rough, I would not advise to "go swimming" in the ocean, go to the pools!!!!! Im ready to go back!

I wanted to contribute my review of the Cancun Omni as all the other reviews were very helpful when planning my trip. Overall, I had a wonderful time at the Omni and would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Cancun. The location was great because it was only 10 min from the airport and buses were located directly in front of the hotel to go downtown. The hotel was well cared for and clean in the public areas and the rooms. My one complaint about the room was that we did not have a balcony and seemed to have been overlooked in the renovations as the decor was a bit outdated! We met some friends and went to their room which looked exactly like the modern room photos online. Too bad this was near the last day, so it would have been silly to ask for another room. Also, we had one of the connection doors the next room over and we could hear everything they were talking about. I would recommend asking for a different room if you notice a door to the neighboring room.

Yes, the beach is small and un-swimmable, but you are still able to go for a nice walk along the beach and get your feet in the water which is hypnotizing from the colors. If you walk down to the right a bit, the Hilton has a little more beach where you can get about waist deep in the water. I would HIGHLY recommend a day trip to Isla Mujeres where you can swim in calm, clear water all day on a beautiful beach. The Pools were the perfect temp - previous reviews stated that is was too cold to get into - So refreshing after laying in the sun. Also, there is always a place to sit if you would like direct sun or shade.

The service at the hotel was wonderful. We weren't bothered by the timeshare agents, but then again we knew the cues to look for and ignored them. You will most likely get a call to your room on your 2nd day and get slips of paper under your door "to get your free coupon book and discounts if you visit the guest services desk." We ignored those as well. The food at La Paloma was good with nice variety and we really enjoyed the poolside entertainment on theme nights. Our most favorite place was the Sunset bar where the service was great - they even remembered our favorite drinks night after night. Joel was so fun and was always there to serve us our "Vitamins" (tequila shots :) he was even so excited for me when my boyfriend proposed to me! It is a very romantic bar.

When the news of the Swine Flu hit, the hotel staff was very calm and Jesus, the concierge was positive and helped calmed us when the hysterical calls from family in the US started to flood in. Only a few food service members were wearing a mask.

You MUST get all inclusive if you plan on drinking and eating most of your meals at the hotel. I cannot imagine the bill if we did not. It is so nice and lets you relax when you can just order any food or drink and not worry about the price/conversion rate.

If we return to Cancun soon, we will most definitely stay at the Omni again!

Management response from sjbk, Director of Sales & Marketing

"Gracias" for your review of our Omni Cancun Hotel & Villas. We truly appreciate your valuable comments, especially the mention of our Concierge, Jesus, who was helpful to you and all our guests with questions regarding the flu. We are lucky to have such tenured Associates who deliver the genuine Mexican hospitality and professional service we pride ourselves on.
As a destination, Cancun was truly fortunate and continues to be so. We are resilient people, who have endured many challenges that we have lived through over the years with our international neighbors and are working together to continue to be known as a safe, warm and friendly place to travel, besides being quite the bargain with the exchange rate.
It is wonderful to see people traveling again to our resort and Cancun, happy to be here and to soon return to let everyone know that all is fine and well here.

We had an excellent time at Omni Cancun I will detail my experience below:

Booking: We booked through Priceline for $70 per night so we did not do the all-inclusive. We spent less buying our meals/drinks separately. We spent on average $50-60 per person per day for food and drinks (including tips/tax). It would have been $119 per person to purchase all inclusive.

Airport Arrival: We arrived at the airport and the customs line was long so it took about an hour to get through. We booked a transfer through Brant and they were waiting with a sign with our name on it.

Check in: Check in was smooth we were greeted by the concierge and checked in at 12:45 pm it was slightly earlier than their 3 PM check-in but we did not have to wait. Prior to arrival I sent an e-mail to Omni requesting a high floor, ocean view, with 2 double beds. They fulfilled all of my requests without any additional charges.

Omni Select guest: I would recommend to everyone staying at the Omni to sign up for the select guest program. As a select guest you get free Wi-Fi (it is usually $14.95 per day), 2 complimentary beverages every morning (coke, tea, juice, coffee, etc.), free USA today, robe, slippers, evening turn-down service. They also had extra blankets and pillows as per my select guest preferences. As part of the complementary beverages we could order small breakfast items for a reasonable charge (empanadas $2.50, Bagel $2.50, etc.)

Lobby: The lobby is lovely, there is a nice lobby bar, a sunset bar, small convenience store.

Room: We had 2 double beds, a balcony with an amazing oceanview. The decor was very nice and the room was clean. I didn't notice any noise to speak of and slept well every night. We could also see the entertainment shows from our room (they perform on M-W- F). There was a large flat screen TV. Calls to the US are $1 per minute in the room. There was a electronic safe that was big enough to fit a laptop among other items. The toiletries they provide seemed nice as well. The shower/tub had adequate water pressure.

Pools: The pools are large, uncrowded, and not too cold. They also have 2 hot tubs. You get you towels from a desk near the pools that also sells tours.

Beach: We were at the beach every day from 9am until 3pm. We sat under hut umbrellas. We never had a problem getting a spot, we tipped a gentleman a few dollars the first day and he saved us a spot every day thereafter. We did bring a cooler with a few beverages which was nice. I would recommend bringing a collapsible cooler. We had a waitress that would bring beverages or food. If a hut was not available they would put an umbrella up for you. There were Thai beds (beach beds) available for $25/day no one really used them. There are huge rocks on the shoreline and the water is not swimable.

Restaurants: We ate at La Paloma (dinner buffet) which was good, and Pina Colada on the beach (order the coconut shrimp). We also had room service which was good (vanilla ice cream was delicious)

Service: The service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly. I have never stayed in a cleaner place, they were always cleaning. We did not get harassed by time share people once.

Near-By area: There is a convenience store (royal market) across the street you can buy Coke for $0.70 beers for $1 etc. There is a bank, Subway, McDonald's, and Captain Cove restaurant across the street.

Captain Cove: Go at sunset it faces the lagoon. We had coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and flan. I would also recommend the Mexican coffee.

Check-out: Easy with no unexpected charges. Our airport transfer was on time to the minute.
Can't wait to go back, I would definitely stay here again. Excellent vacation.
