We had an excellent time at Omni Cancun I will detail my experience below:
Booking: We booked through Priceline for $70 per night so we did not do the all-inclusive. We spent less buying our meals/drinks separately. We spent on average $50-60 per person per day for food and drinks (including tips/tax). It would have been $119 per person to purchase all inclusive.
Airport Arrival: We arrived at the airport and the customs line was long so it took about an hour to get through. We booked a transfer through Brant and they were waiting with a sign with our name on it.
Check in: Check in was smooth we were greeted by the concierge and checked in at 12:45 pm it was slightly earlier than their 3 PM check-in but we did not have to wait. Prior to arrival I sent an e-mail to Omni requesting a high floor, ocean view, with 2 double beds. They fulfilled all of my requests without any additional charges.
Omni Select guest: I would recommend to everyone staying at the Omni to sign up for the select guest program. As a select guest you get free Wi-Fi (it is usually $14.95 per day), 2 complimentary beverages every morning (coke, tea, juice, coffee, etc.), free USA today, robe, slippers, evening turn-down service. They also had extra blankets and pillows as per my select guest preferences. As part of the complementary beverages we could order small breakfast items for a reasonable charge (empanadas $2.50, Bagel $2.50, etc.)
Lobby: The lobby is lovely, there is a nice lobby bar, a sunset bar, small convenience store.
Room: We had 2 double beds, a balcony with an amazing oceanview. The decor was very nice and the room was clean. I didn't notice any noise to speak of and slept well every night. We could also see the entertainment shows from our room (they perform on M-W- F). There was a large flat screen TV. Calls to the US are $1 per minute in the room. There was a electronic safe that was big enough to fit a laptop among other items. The toiletries they provide seemed nice as well. The shower/tub had adequate water pressure.
Pools: The pools are large, uncrowded, and not too cold. They also have 2 hot tubs. You get you towels from a desk near the pools that also sells tours.
Beach: We were at the beach every day from 9am until 3pm. We sat under hut umbrellas. We never had a problem getting a spot, we tipped a gentleman a few dollars the first day and he saved us a spot every day thereafter. We did bring a cooler with a few beverages which was nice. I would recommend bringing a collapsible cooler. We had a waitress that would bring beverages or food. If a hut was not available they would put an umbrella up for you. There were Thai beds (beach beds) available for $25/day no one really used them. There are huge rocks on the shoreline and the water is not swimable.
Restaurants: We ate at La Paloma (dinner buffet) which was good, and Pina Colada on the beach (order the coconut shrimp). We also had room service which was good (vanilla ice cream was delicious)
Service: The service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly. I have never stayed in a cleaner place, they were always cleaning. We did not get harassed by time share people once.
Near-By area: There is a convenience store (royal market) across the street you can buy Coke for $0.70 beers for $1 etc. There is a bank, Subway, McDonald's, and Captain Cove restaurant across the street.
Captain Cove: Go at sunset it faces the lagoon. We had coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and flan. I would also recommend the Mexican coffee.
Check-out: Easy with no unexpected charges. Our airport transfer was on time to the minute.
Can't wait to go back, I would definitely stay here again. Excellent vacation.
