i was actually surprised that the crown was as nice as i found it to be after reading so many bad reviews. yes it is an older hotel but well maintained.the beach is small but big enough water is beautiful.yes beds are hard elevators slow and hot service was good with one exception, sebastian in the italian resturant we loved jesus and followed him from resturant to resturant.they rotate nightly. obviously had no problems with getting reservations food was good over all and some dishes were excellent.all in all i think it is a great value

We just got back from a week with our 4 kids(ages 12-18) and we didn't hear "I'm bored" once! Quite an accomplishment with 3 teenage girls. Overall the food was very good with a lot of variety. Unlimited sushi by the pool!!! Are you kidding me? The bartenders pour generously and the pools were very nice. Fantastic views of the sea and the beach was in great shape. We walked the beaches both directions and we had some of the best sand and surf. Further up going toward town it gets very rocky and the surf is steep and not the best for small children. The only complaint, the beds were hard. It made sleeping a bit uncomfortable, but nothing 3 shots of Cuervo before lights out won't fix. We'll be back. That's probably the best endorsement we can make. Great staff and very clean. Not the place for a quiet time, but great for a family vacation.

I have been to Cancun 5 times and have stayed in different resorts each time, this was the first time traveling with our children. This hotel is great for families with younger kids, would not recommend for a romantic getaway. We traveled with three children (5, 5, 2). They loved the resort for the great pools, kids club and real cool water park and water slides on the property. The property is not very spread out as some resorts are which is nice for small kids. It is right on the beach, which is beautiful and plenty big, despite erosion issues. The water is beautiful and very warm this time of year. The food was good, better than expected. The restaurants have kids menus and the buffet is kid friendly and ours are picky. The rooms are average, the seven person family suite was cool (two story). Beds were hard as many people said, but that is common in many hotels. Entertainment and wait staff were excellent (tipping goes a long way). The front desk staff was less than helpful at check-in and that is really my only complaint. They initially tried downgrading us because the room we reserved was not available. They eventually upgraded us after our travel service had to call and demand the room we paid for. The resort was and beach felt very safe and swine flu was not an issue or a concern for us. Nobody got sick. Overall, for the price we paid we were very satisfied. The resort is rated around a 3.5 out of 5 and that is what you get.

Ok my 4th trip to Mexico... Second time with 2 kids now are 4 and 7... Pros - room service daily for breakfast - $2 tip and food was great. Pool food and 24/7 food fine. We liked it all. Swine Flu - geezz - 40K die of the Flu in the US - no issues. Kids club great, staff great, beer good...
Cons - yes the elevators are hot and slow..., beds - hard - we spend maybe 8 hours in the room - A.C. fair. Rooms 3.0 stars, 4.5 for pools, kids club, food, staff ect... price was right if you did not need a flat screen and a big tub ect...
We did 8 days for 3K - direct flight for 4 people and had a blast. Last year we did 7 days at a 5 star that had all the stuff... But lacked the food and service. I like the places that are 10+ years and have it together. Rooms are ok but the food, staff and grounds is what I want. Threat people well - and they loved the kids - 2-3 hours at the club, every day... Gave us a rest but the kids liked it.
Hope this helps I write because it helps me and others plan. Oh again with kids 8AM was a fine time to get a chair at the pool. Towel cards a pain - maybe but I understand the rules - we had no issues.
