Our trip consisted of my wife and two teenage kids and my brother with his wife and two young children. We stayed at this hotel from June 6 to June 13. We arrived late (evening) at this hotel due to our 5 hour flight delay. Check in was fast and the lady at the front desk was very friendly. We got to our rooms and check the view from our balcony and everything seemed okay for the night. The following day we wake up and check the view from our balcony only to see this old and aboned (ugly looking) resort property next to our hotel. The view to the ocean was beautiful, but the property next door made it feel so depressive. That same morning we went to talk to the manager on duty and try to get area loverlooking the pool (all rooms are ocean view) and after about 30 minutes of waiting for him at the lobby he told us that he would have a couple of rooms available in the area overlooking the pool by 1400 hours. We got our rooms on the fifth floor and what an amazing view from the balcony. I recommend you ask for this section b/c the view is incredible. You can see the palapa, huge pool (where all the day activity goes on) and the different shades of blue of the water with its white sandy beaches. Incredible!!
The FOOD:
I want to mention that we are not picky and that we have stayed in Cancun on four other occasions the past 8 years. We have stayed at the Sheraton, Melia Turquesa, and twice at the Riu Caribe. We have enjoyed all our stays in Cancun. I want to say that the food at the buffet in CPC was a little below average, since they had the same food(repeat) every other day
in the middle section of the buffet while the other sections they had Italian, Mexican, Chinesse (the same food) every day...and the same dessert every day. At the other hotels that we have stayed in they have same desserts every day but they varied the food more daily (Riu and MT). The snack bar by the pool is great. They have the best buffalo wings. they also serve burgers, hot dogs, chips, etc.. The ala Carta restaurants we went to were: Gallos (Mexican food) was great, the only place you could get Guacamole with your food(was great) all different plates we ordered were very good. the (Italian food) place was average at best. (Waynes boots)or steak house place was also pretty good. We did not get a reseravation to fishermans nor the french restaurants. Overall the food is good, except for the buffet which is average at best. If they can vary the food a liitle more, i can give them a better rating.
Bars:
We found the drinks to be very good at all the bars. The bartenders and waiters/waitresses worked very hard and would always approach you with a smile. Two of them that stand out of all of them were Ms Rebecca at the Trafalgar's bar one of the nicest waitresses we have ever met. Always with a smile and she made sure we always had drinks. During the day by the beach or the pool there was Mr David. He was one of the hardest working waiters we have ever seen (especially in the hot weather). He also would go around getting drinks for everyone. We gave them both and others good tips for there hard work.
Pools:
The pools were great. Both the kids and teens paradise were excellent for our kids. They enjoyed the slides every single day.
Beach:
Was awesome. The beach is wide and there is alot of sand. The only rocks i saw that most ppl compalin about was on the north side of the beach (but its only a very small section). The rest of the beach is beautiful.
Rooms:
The rooms were good. I had no problems with the A/C, the room was cold enough. The bathroom was good and the rooms were cleaned daily. My only complain was the hard beds (but all beds that i stayed in Cancun are all the same).
Elevators:
Very Slow and hot, of the three elevators servicing the two towers only two were working an one of them did not stop at the 3rd floor(luckily we had the 5th floor)
Entertainment staff:
They were all great. always working hard during the day by the pool and at night during their shows.
Overall, I do recommend this hotel to families with kids only. We had a blast during our stay there. My wife and I already booked a stay for August but this time we are staying at the Riu Cancun for our anniversary(no kids). Next year, we will probably return for another family trip, but maybe stay at another hotel.
