After staying at Dreams for 4 days, my friend and I wanted to extend our vacation a bit. We used Priceline (I'm a big fan) and our bid was accepted by the Hyatt Regency. It was about as convenient as you could get, it is the hotel right next door to Dreams. While it's not all-inclusive, we had already had enough of the cookie-cutter average buffet food & drinks, and were in the mood for a change.
Well, this was a very welcome change. First, the hotel is beautiful and well-maintained. Inside you'll find a circular construction with a very modern feel, and an atrium. It reminded me of a hotel you'd see in South Beach or Los Angeles. Check-in was simple, we arrived shortly after 3pm. While we didn't get an oceanside view, we were very pleased with the room. The shower was heaven and the complimentary toiletries were very nice. We had a King bed with very soft, high-end linens. Housekeeping did a great job, and the room was cleaned early in the day. The only gripe I have was that the elevators were really hot inside, but how much time are you spending in the elevator?
The outside of the hotel was just as impressive, both in style and comfort. There was no beach access, but I didn't miss it. The pool had built-in lounge chairs. The loungers and "shade pods" around the pool were also very comfortable. Closer to the oceanside, there were large beds and cabanas. We didn't order anything from the pool bar, so I can't comment on service.
We only ate at the hotel once, for breakfast at O. While it was on the pricey side for breakfast (It was roughly $32 for two, we didn't try the buffet.), it was worth it. The food was tasty and well-presented.
All in all, I really enjoyed this hotel. It was within a 5-10 minute walk of the main tourist area, and it was quiet and relaxing. It's good for singles and couples. There were a few families with kids, but not many.
