I am insanely in love with this hotel, so much so that I plan to return this summer.

Great location: check
Lovely accomodation: check
Reasonable price: check
Awesome service: check
Excellent company: check

The interior is amazing, the reception alone is breathtakingly beautiful... First impressions were outstanding, the staff very polite and welcoming, the bell boys efficient and helpful.

After a good night's sleep in our cosy beds, we awoke to a bright and breezy Cancun morning. Going to breakfast that morning we were greeted by the priceless view of the sea from the full length restaurant windows. Breakfast itself was a treat with a variety of cooked breakfast, pastries, fruit, cold meats and a chef to prepare omelettes to your taste with your own choice of fillings.

Unlike, other hotels we did not have a problem obtaining sun beds and towels to go with them. The pools are great, especially the lower one with the sunbeds in the pool. I also enjoyed the sumptuous 4-poster, relaxation beds which face the beautiful sea. Upon retiring to our room ,we ordered afternoon tea from room service which was delicious. In fact, room service was on the whole fantastic

In summary we met some lovely families, staff only too happy to help and a tip goes a long way... Unlike some of the bigger hotels, there was a nice customer/staff relationship and after a few days they knew our family by name (not a bad thing, trust me!)

The only downsides were the limited selection of restaurants, we stayed All Inclusive and so after a week it was becoming a little difficult to choose from the one menu each night. Along with the lack of beach but that wasn't too bad as you can use next door's beach. Although our room had all the mod cons, it was a bit on the small side, in particular the bathroom. The gym was also a work in progress, not that I would have used it anyway.

Would definitely recommend!

We were really disappointed in the service and the room in this hotel. Make sure you ask for the ocean side of the hotel. We were placed on the other side and didn't get any sleep until 4am when all the partying stopped in Cancun. Another note: make sure your room is not by a stairwell or an ice machine. I am glad we only stayed one night.
On a positive note they have a really nice gym.

We´ve been one week at Hyatt Regency in Cancun - and I would not recommend it to my friends ... The room - at the executive floor!! - had a nice view - but it was located just behind the kichen of "Dreams" hotek. Every morning we wake up with a disgusting smell of fried oil from the kichen (although we were at the 14th floor!) a smell that would not go away all morning ...

The swiming pool ice cold - imposible to swim. The pictures on their webpage are fake - it looks like they have a beach but they don´t - if you want to feel the sand you need to go tu a public beach far away

There is internet in the rooms - but you need to pay each day 176 pesos

They are overcharging for the massages -

and the lobby of the hotel inside looks like a hospital waiting room - everything white and boring with some famelic plants.

Definitely nothing that would indicate that you are in Cancun! the location is good though and the breakfast is all right.

I'll preface this with the statement that I am a flight attendant, thus spend about 130 nights a year in hotels everywhere.
This was my first layover at this hotel. Initial impressions were good. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly.
I'll quickly get the unpleasant or bothersome out of the way. If you are familiar with Holiday Inn Holidomes then you can expect the same noise level here. No carpeting and atrium design make for much noise. I wore ear plugs and stuffed a towel at the base of the door to try to alleviate the excessive noise.
Not that I came to Cancun to watch television but my remote control did not work.
There was no coffee in the room, luckily I always carry my own, but then the coffee maker did not work properly and brewed a pot on top of the cabinet instead of in the carafe. With no rugs or carpeting of any sort it made for a rather sterile (and noisy) environment. Dampness and mildew smell is an issue. One wastecan in the room was inconvenient as was the low wattage of the bedside bulbs (this is becoming a problem in many hotels though). Many stairs to deal with in the lobby, restaurant area and the pool area. Food is very expensive.
Now the good, the pool area was large and very nice with a couple of different levels. The cabanas were inviting. The lobby offered a lovely place to sit with a beautiful view and open air. Again, all of the staff that I dealt with were very helpful. Beach access is available at Dreams next door. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. My oceanview room had a wonderful view and a little balcony to enjoy my surroundings. The bed was quite comfortable.
So with a flight attendant perspective, I don't believe that the hotel is of typical Hyatt Regency quality. It's the attention to detail that draws the line between a real five star and one that after initial impression finds these details lacking.

Negatives: Not the anticipated Hyatt Regency experience.
Positive: Forewarned to keep expectations lower, it is a good hotel with good location, accessible to shopping, dining and night life. Bring ear plugs.

my boyfriend and i wanted to get away for a couple days, and really didnt care where we went as long as there was a beach... i came across this hotel through jetblue vacations where we booked the hotel for 4nights & roundtrip flight from nyc for $612 a person... it was so cheap because we went during hurricane season (the last week in september)...

the entire hotel is very modern & is exactly as pictured on all of the travel websites...

we booked a room with two double beds with a deluxe ocean view & ended up staying in room 919... deluxe does not even come close to the view that we had... we had an amazing view of the caribbean sea & could see all the way down the entire hotel zone strip... at night it was gorgeous seeing everything all lit up... the sunrises were amazing... the bed was extremely comfortable & the bathrooms and showers were decent size...

customer service was great... my boyfriend forgot to bring a razor with him & we saw in one of the brochures in the room that they provide complimentary toiletry products upon request... we called housekeeping to see if they had a razor so we didnt have to buy one, and within two minutes one of the housekeepers was knocking on the door with a brand new gillette fusion razor and can of gillette mens shaving gel...

the location of this hotel was great!!!! everything is within walking distance- all the clubs, restaurants, flea market, stores, etc... make sure you go to coco bongos... it is kind of like a nyc club mixed with a las vegas show... they have people who dress up & perform songs from people like elvis, brett michaels, lou bega, beyonce, britney spears, etc... there are also circus soleil people.... if you go shopping at the flea market, be prepared to bargain with the people... some of the vendors can be intimidating because it is as if they all approach you at once, but you just have to get used to it...

this hotel has three pools- one of which has beach chairs in the pool... there used to be a beach, but it got washed away during hurricane wilma in 2005, but you are allowed to use the beach at the hotel next door (i think dreams??)... the hyatt regency provides extra towels to use at the pools or beach...

no matter what hotel you stay in, make sure if you go to cancun taht you take the short 20min ferry ride to isla mujeres for the day... the ferry leaves out of puerto juarez... once arriving at isla mujeres, you can rent a golf cart for around $40 for the day to drive around this small 5mile island... there are amazing beaches, places to hold & swim with nurse sharks, amazing tiny little restaurants, and sights to see.... it was how i expected mexico to be... this day trip was by far the highlight of our trip... we are actually planning on going to isla mujeres this summer for around a week...

we also had an amazing time at xcaret... we booked it through a guy named "shorty" who stands in a small booth outside between the hyatt regency and right before the city place club... he got us a really good deal... xcaret is kind of like an amusement park, aquarium, zoo, beach resort, snorkeling place, etc all rolled into one... it even had an underground river to snorkel in... make sure that if you go that you stay for the night show that starts at 7pm...

this was our first trip to cancun & we couldnt have asked for a nicer hotel... we would stay here again in a heartbeat...
