I Stayed at the Caribbean Princess in Jan this year. My friend and I were on a budget and we thought this hotel, although basic was fine for what we paid for. The staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. The location is by the lagoon, so we just made our own way into the centre of Cancun everyday either by bus or shuttle service from the hotel. If you are willing to be adventurous and find your own way around, this hotel is an ideal and cheap base to do it from. It is by no means luxurious, the food is average, but still edible. We just filled ourselves up with fresh fruit every morning. Our rooms were clean and spacious, as was the bathroom and shower. So, for the money we paid, we were happy with our stay.

Ive worked for first choice and thomson, and we actually use to laugh about this hotel, and i would never send any of my customers here, reason 1, it only cost another £50 per person usually to stay in a hotel that is a million times better, 2, im one fo the unlucky ones who actually booked it with his friends.
I travelled out on the 24th june 2008, for 2 weeks with three other friends, and we had two rooms, which you couldnt really complain with if u were going self catering, but when ur nearly spending nearly £1000, u expect a bit more in your room. Beds were very big, but the shower temperture changed all the time, and the toilet liked to bloke up a lot. The pool was a good size, but the slide and jacuzzi were out of use for the whole trip we were there. Also there is a family of iguanas at the hotel, so u always need to be careful where standing, this is because the hotel is next to the swamp and not the beach. The staff were average, some nice some rude, one of the staff wouldn't let you have more than one drink at a time which is not what u pay for in all inclusive. The hotels food was repulsive, hardly ediable, must have ate out 10 nights out of the 14 we were there.
The hotel, is about 5 mins on the bus or taxi to nightlife, whereas other hotels seem to be walking distance
Would walk back to cancun, but never ever ever stay at this hotel!!!

My husband, myself, and another couple stayed at the Carribean Princess from March 24-April 7 2009. Before coming, I lost so many nights sleep from reading the ridicules reviews on Tripadvisor. I tried everything to cancel and get myself in a five star resort to no avail. I was given the choice of three other resorts that sounded every bit as bad, and it would have cost another $400.00 per person. Being a bit of a spoiled diva, I decided I would try my best to rough it for two weeks. Much to my delighted surprise, it was one our best vacations yet!!! First we were led to our rooms which were both one bedroom, full kitchen, dinner table, living area, and full bath.(The toilets don't flush well, but we found this almost everywhere in Cancun, not just here.) We were expecting a king bed and dresser so this was a wonderful surprise. I don't know what people were talking about saying the front desk was rude because weather it was first thing in the morning, or three in the morning, they were nothing but helpful and sweet to us. (Maybe people treat you how you treat them, do ya think???) And Tony, you rocked our world!!!!! I would come back to this resort just for you. I can't believe how you have a smile on your face from early A.M.till early A.M. Make sure you go clubbing with the resort. They know where to go on the best nights, no line ups, no dealing with money in bars, and loads of fun. (Tony even escorts the ladies to the washroom and waits till your done then leads you back.(I can't even get my husband to do that!!) I am not going to lead you to believe that it's a 4 or 5 star resort cause it's not, but it is clean, the people are wonderful and all the staff tries so hard to please, even the rude Brits in the restaurant who would'nt have been happy if Woolfgang Puck had cooked there meal.(We offered to do horrible things to your drinks and they would'nt let us, lucky for you) I am a vegetarian and a very picky one at that and was far from hungry at any time, plus they do have the menu if you don't want the buffet.A little shout out to Santos Miguel and Juanin the restaraunt, I can't believe how hard you work. A big thak you to Tony again for trying so hard to find my lost purse. I know you went above and beyond to try to it for me and I really appreciate that!!!(Don't bring anything important on nights clubbing,Tony will tell you this but some people need to learn the hard way.) One more shout out to the graet Brits we met who seemed to be having as great a time as we were. You guys were a riot. STAY AT THIS RESORT IF YOU WANT MORE FUN FOR LESS FUNDS!!!! FROM CANADA.

This hotel doesn't have a beach, it is situated in the lagoon. There's no shuttle to bring you to a closer one so you have to find it by yourself and to try to get in as most of them are behind the hotels and there is no access. The hotel provides one shuttle at 10 am which brings you back at 3 pm so you'll miss the lunch. It brings you to some very far beach which is a public one (as they all are in Cancun) where they have an agreement with a hotel close from it but if you want to stay to their pool you have to pay for your drinks (at least one, $3.50 US).

There is not much food / drinks variety and one of the bartenders, Alvaro, is the worst a hotel can have. Tourists have to wait a long time for him to come back from God knows where and do his job. He was disappearing quite often and was very ignorant.
There were days when the food was uneatable. The snacks are not from 10 am to 6 pm as it is advertised on Signature Vacation booking site, but from noon to 5 pm and there were hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos and a Mexican speciality, Sincronizadas (tortilla with ham and cheese).

The majority of the employees look bored, sad and annoyed.

Would I recommend you this hotel or to book with Signature Vacation? CERTAINLY NOT !

As for the reps, there is a woman, Donna, but she's not doing much even nothing in terms of some change you would like to do. If you book with Signature Vacations, know that she's not directly representing this agency.

The hotel's entertainment is poor and the stuff bored and boring.

Also, every day you have to take care at your steps in order not to step on an iguana. Also, there are two crocodiles in the lagoon.

In summary, this place is the pits, don't believe these fake happy reviews, im giving you the real experience and a real review. Im not a picky person but this place change my mind. The food was awful...the best way to explain it is its like eating microwaved food that's been microwaved 4 times....SERIOUSLY! ...I ended up eating out half through. Plus ive never seen so many take away delivery's to one hotel. Dominos must be happy. The staff...well some were friendly and some were rude, unless you tip. The facilities where old, rusted, had crispy broken down paint and this hotel is very very small. Also most the taxis didn't know where the hotel was. wonder why?

Again Im not a picky person with hotels and ive travelled the world, even staying in hostels better than this place. If your young and looking to party go to the hotel strip like the Oasis where all the youngsters are. If your middle aged or older or want a nice relaxing place go to the hotel strip like the Omni where there are beautiful white sand and amazing blue colour waters. The hotel strip is the place to be. When you see other hotels in the area, we went to the oasis for example and it is amazing and then come back here, We felt so so sad with what we got. If you haven't booked your hotel and another hotel cost a few pounds/dollars more...do it!!!! trust me it will make the whole difference to your holiday. If you've booked it...good luck...and try visit other hotels to make yourself feel better and see if you agree with me?

Some tips: Take the bus is very cheap and easy to get up and down the strip. Haggle for everything, taxis, tickets to clubs, excursions t-shirts and all sorts...they will break. Try visit other hotels...they are amazing and will let you in. Go Coco Bongos, its the best club there and ive been to all of them.

I had a amazing time in Cancun, but that's because of the nightlife and ended up trying to stay away from the resort and spending time at others.

All I can say is please please don't go to Caribbean princess.
