“fantastic place to stay”

Imperial Las Perlas Hotel

we have just returned from this hotel there was six of us who stayed here for two weeks it was amazing we all had a fantastic time yes you get what you pay for we read these reviews before we went and we nearly changed our hoiliday dont take to much notice if your a posh bird then dont go if your the down to earth and friendly type then go yes the rooms are a bit dated( try and get a sea view room )but you only sleep in there the air con was a god send we had a massive walk in shower which always had red hot running water the resturant was great the food was beautifull and the waiters were great they are even better if you tip them once in a while (george&philip) are the best .the bar is great and so are eusabio & migel the bar men, your never without a drink for long with them two. there is no entertainment in this hotel but they do have music on so you make your own entertainment like we did. the beach is great there is some sea grass that gets swept up onto the beach(its worse further up towards the hotel zone) but there is a little lad that is constantly raking it up apart from the one day he has off a week so dont forget him when handing the tips out the sea is beautifull but not very deep it also gets very hot in there.the weather was very hot but you have a breeze most of the time so you dont realise how much sun your actually getting so keep applying the cream all the time. all in all we would go back to this place not just for the hotel but for the really friendly people we met aswell (staff&guests) and the lovely atmosphere made by everyone.

We (my girlfriend and I) booked this holiday last minute and then read the reviews on here and i must say we were a little sceptical as many of them complained about cleanliness and broken / cold showers and very uncomfortable beds and rooms so needless to say we arrived with little expectations !

Upon arrival we were escorted to our room by the over eger bell boy - no doubt looking for a tip we thought although this is often the way in mexico and for what equates to a couple of quid why not!! we had requested a sea view and high floor although they were not able to give us the high floor we were more than happy with our sea view over - it was right over the bar but a little music to get reasy to is all good and as it stops at 11 ish this was never an issue.

The room itself was extremely clean the air conditioning was excellent too cold at times but you can adjust it, the bathroom was also very clean with a very large shower room that we could both easily fit in together (who says romance is dead! - if it is in this location then your really in trouble) and the shower was powerful and we always had hot water!!

Throughout the week the miads cleaned our room to the highest standard (a little tip for you - take some bits and bobs that local mexicans may not take for granted like we do such as hair assessories, sweets, toothbrushes, pens etc etc and leave them something everyday they really appreciate it and it showed in the little touches that the left behind (towels folded like flowers etc).

The restaurant was amazing first of all the location - on stilts over the sea is a great setting, secondly the staff are sooo friendly always smiling and made us feel so welcome - the food was second to none with various theme nights throughout the week in the evinings tradional mexican through to international (roast beef for you die hard brits!) - we would urge you to try everything on offer. Breakfast was also top notch with a ready made omlet cooked infront of you with your choice of fillings as well as the usual cereal and again traditional mexican faire and exotic friut (great coffee too).

The staff in this hotel are exceptional especially the reataurant staff always bringing us another cocktail and urging us to take full advantage of the all inclusive (who are we to argue), the bar staff again deadly with the cocktail mixer happy smiling, funny and eager to please. Kevin and Emir organising vollyball and footy on the beach (clearly they have been watching top tackles from the seventies tho - look out ouch!) and organised a top night to coco bongo (if you do nothong else make sure you go to this night - amazing show and disco - words fail look it up on you tube - it'll give you an idea but you have to go and experience it) although make sure there is a big enough group as you will get better service / seats etc from the club.

Honestly we can't speak highly enough of this hotel - it may be billed as a three star and ok you dont get marbel floors etc but ask your self how much time are you really gonna spend in your room - when you are there its clean the beds are very comfy and the linen is crisp and clean- and the service and catering is 5 star. Although the did let a couple of dodgy northerns in to stay - only joking robyn and mike !! - We feel that this hotel made our trip its is probably a 5-10 min bus ride from the hotel zone but this is a good thing as from our experience its much more relaxed and doesnt have the mass tourism feel and the bus goes every 5 mins and costs about 6 pasos or 35p and a taxi home (agree a price before you leave and haggle is about 12 dollars or 120 pasos.

~Excursion wise we booked one via orlando - our rep - the pirate ship which was great fun (red boat is more rowdy - we went on the green boat and mat soo many cool people - thanks darren for smuggling us into your all inclusive for mucho pinacoladas!!

we alo booked chichen itza via best day travel in the lobby which was great especially as the guide we had brought the whole myan experiance to life - make sure you go to the sink hole for a swim first - you can book this trip in the local mall cheaper but its not soo convenient so you decide.

the second trip we booked via best travel was xel-ha and tolum combined - this day started with us waiting for 15 mins in the lobby at which time we though we would ask the rep where the bus was he made some calls and thn informed us that apparently they had called our room and we had told them we didnt want to go anymore - clearly we were in the lobby the whole time - they then eventually took us by minibus - stopping to collect another guest that they had forgotten!!) and cought up with the bus!!

first stop was xel-ha - this place is amazing and eco water park that is all inclusive - really relaxing lots of activities like snorkling, kayaks, river raqmble on a double innertube and loads more the all inclusive was great too loads of different food and again numerous cocktails (think you getting the picture!!). You get 5 hours here , we feel that probably a whole day would be best for this in which case you get 8 hrs but we got on the coach to tolum - 2 pwople were not at the bus dead on the appointed time so the bus left without them (they turned up later at tolum having made there on way there and were ridiculed by the guide repatedly. Tolum was a myan outpost and is beautiful sitting atop a cliff with white sandy beaches below (where you can swim) - it is a little walk from the bus drop off poin to the ruins and you are not warned of this - you then get a tour (all very nice and educational ) and then left to wander about on you own but only for about 40 mins be aware this goes very quickly - we thought we had left enough time to get back and were a couple of minutes late and found the bus had left us and taken all our possessions with it including phone and most of our money. We gave it 1/2 an hour presuming they may return - THEY WONT - luckily for us a great american couple came to our rescue (thanks soo much jemal and sarah) and gave us a lift to playa dal carman - we then got a local shuttle bus (1hr) back to cancun - later that evening we got our bags back with everything intact but no apology, and definately no compensation or even reimbursement ofr bus taxi etc in fact they were decidely blame like aweful customer service i would think twice before booking with the so called best travel company.

So to sum up our expierence of our amazing trip to Cancun, Mexico and after reading our views on Imperial Las Perlas we hope you give it great thought and dont think twice about booking with this hotel. You wont regret it, Enjoy!

I have nothing but compliments about the Hotel staff, Entratainment staff(Kevin and Emir). As long as you are nice they will get out of their way to help you out. For the money that you pay you get a lot. Food is pretty good and you cant beat the all inclusive drink till you cant drink anymore. Kevin does a good job to get you into all of the clubs...Shout outs to him from the crayzy Serbian boys. Eusabio the bartender makes sure that your glass is always full...I have never seen a bartender work faster then him..Overall if you are there to party that is the place for you. It is a bit far from the hotel zone downtown so plan on getting a bus or catching a cab which range from 7-10 dollars. We have met a lot of cool people down there...Richard and Lloyd from England,Haris, Brooklyn......if you guys are reading this shoot me an e-mail. Would recommend this place for young singles.

“Worst Hotel I've Stayed At”

I visited this hotel for one night last summer, and I figured I should review it. I have reviewed all of my good experiences with accomodations, but I just found it so hard to relive this memory at the time. It's only fair I review my bad experiences as well, though, so here goes...

My best friend and I had just spent a spectacular week using my parents' time share at the Gran Caribe Real. Due to airfare issues, we needed to leave 1 night later than our time share allowed, so we booked an overnight stay at the Imperial Las Perlas. We figured it was way less expensive than staying an extra night at our original hotel, and it wasn't the worst hotel in the area, according to my research. Plus, I figured it might be nice to stay at a new area of the beach, since we had just spent a week in one particular spot. Well, this was before I experienced it.

Outside, the hotel was seedy. There were all kinds of alleys twisting around the hotel, and who knows who was lurking. The tiny pool was FILLED with people. Whatever, we figured, we'll just swim in the ocean. That's what we're here for anyways. So as soon as we checked in, we made a bee-line to the sea. It looked gross, but it's just seaweed right? Yeah, tons of seaweed. This hotel is located in the worst part of the beach. It gets no moving water. Seaweed just collects, along with who knows what, AND the water feels like sludge. Boiling sludge. It was so hot. Granted, I'm really a New England, cold Atlantic kinda girl, but I had enjoyed my beach at the Gran Caribe. However, this water was unbearable. We didn't even spend 30 seconds in it.

The room was sweltering hot, and the air conditioner wasn't working. A repair man came up, but he still didn't fix it. We kept giving it some time, but I swear the room was hotter than the outside air. So we switched rooms. The state of all the rooms I saw (three total, since one random empty room was left open, and I just walked in) was bad. Furniture was falling apart, bed overs were dirty, and everything was just old.

There was nothing good about this hotel, except MAYBE the little restaurant out on the pier in the back. That could just be because we were hungry, and the hotel was in the middle of nowhere. We were just happy there was food offered anywhere around.

It was really a shame to leave Cancun on such a sour note, but it didn't really ruin our trip, as we had just spent an awesome week at another resort. I just wish we would have started off at this hotel, and then switched to the better one, rather than the other way around. No, scratch that. I wish we never saw this place.
