My husband and I booked a 5-day trip through Worry-Free Vacations (MLT vacations) for a February 22-27, 2008 stay at The Golden Parnassus in Cancun. This was anything BUT a worry-free trip.

Upon arriving at The Golden Parnassus, we were told that this resort was full. We are seasoned travelers and have never, ever encountered such a fiasco that greeted us here. We were told that we could be put up at any number of resorts, all of which were not adult-only hotels. Of course, we said that was not acceptable as we had booked an adult-only resort for specifically that reason: no kids!

Long story short, we were sent to Le Blanc in Cancun, of course, with no additional charges to us due to the mistakes made by Worry-Free Vacations and The Golden Parnassus.

When we checked out of our hotel on February 27, we settled our room charges, which came to $20.00 for a few items we purchased in the gift shop.

On March 7, 2008, we received our credit card bill and learned that Le Blanc had charged us $500.00! For what?? For the mistake make by Worry-Free Vacations and The Golden Parnassus?

Sorry, but this is not the way to do business. Behaving in an underhanded manner by "sneaking" charges to one's credit card is unacceptable. So, we have notified our Discover card dispute center regarding this $500.00 charge. Worry-Free Vacations will be receiving a letter detailing this issue.

Years ago, we traveled with Worry-Free Vacations. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I highly doubt we will bother again. Expedia has been and continues to be 2nd to none when it comes to "worry-free" vacationing.

So, bottom line: Even booking with a company that is known and handles charter package vacations proved to be unreliable and ruined the first day of our 5-day vacation.

We were totally impressed with everything about this resort. The service was spectacular, rooms were very clean, food was fantastic. Absolutely no complaints about anything here. We read some of the reviews and were a little worried about what to expect, but we saw nothing of what some of the complaints were about. I guess we were very fortunate to not have any issues with our booking. We booked back in September. I would definitely go back to this same resort.

My best friend and I had made plans to stay at the golden since october. We were going to spend 5 days with my mom and her friend. They arrived a day before we did. When we arrived on the 21st we were shown to the lobby and given a drink and told to have a seat someone would be with us. At least 30 minutes later a woman named Yanina came over to tell us as well as another couple that they didn't have a room for us. There was some "computer virus" that screwed up our reservations.
She said that all of Cancun was 100% full but lucky us, she was able to find us a room in another resort. That wouldn't be such a problem except that my mom and her friend were already checked into their room and the whole reason for this trip was to all be together. I'm not quite sure why the "virus" didn't affect their reservation consdering we all booked at the same time. In the meantime we witnessed a couple come in that was on the same plane as us. They walked in, gave their name and within 5 minutes they had their bracelets on and their room info. Now needless to say we were very upset. Apparently they booked with apple vacations and that made a difference. Kickbacks or something. Upon asking to speak to the manager 3 different times, of which each time he refused to come speak with us, Yanina told us if we wanted to change into our bathing suits we could go out to the pool with my mom for a few minutes. Keep in mind we had been arguing for a good hour or so and getting nowhere. Myt friend and I went to get our luggage to take to my moms room to change and figure out what we should do when we were told we couldn't take our luggage anywhere. We were beyond frustrated. We took it anyway, made our way to the elevator only to have 4 security guards surround us. Seriously!! Over our own stuff!!! We finally got to speak to the manager who basically treated us like crap. We got into the cab they called for us and went to the other resort. We contacted our travel agent who ended up getting my mom and her friend moved over to the new resort as well. It all ended up working out ok, but we lost almost a whole day in the sun. The Golden Parnassus caused a lot of unnecessary stress, frustration and humiliation. Perhaps they need to find some employees who can take reservations and actually keep them. I wouldn't recommend this resort to my worst enemy. Well maybe, but only if they were treated the same way we were.

DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!

We booked this so called Resort in October, and our trip was planned for Feb 21-28 2008. When we arrived the manager Yanina told us they had a computer virus and overbooked the rooms and had nothing for us. We could either stand here and argue and still get no room or go to another resort. We chose to go to another resort because at this point we were allready loosing a day in the sun. We were getting no sympathy, and nothing in writing about a free 7 night stay next year, which I would even want anyway. After reading alot of these reviews, it looks like we were'nt the only ones this happened to.
On a good note they did us a favor by sending us to a beautiful resort called RIU CANCUN which is near all the night life and shopping.
Hope this helps in your decission to book at the GP.
