My husband and I booked a 5-day trip through Worry-Free Vacations (MLT vacations) for a February 22-27, 2008 stay at The Golden Parnassus in Cancun. This was anything BUT a worry-free trip.
Upon arriving at The Golden Parnassus, we were told that this resort was full. We are seasoned travelers and have never, ever encountered such a fiasco that greeted us here. We were told that we could be put up at any number of resorts, all of which were not adult-only hotels. Of course, we said that was not acceptable as we had booked an adult-only resort for specifically that reason: no kids!
Long story short, we were sent to Le Blanc in Cancun, of course, with no additional charges to us due to the mistakes made by Worry-Free Vacations and The Golden Parnassus.
When we checked out of our hotel on February 27, we settled our room charges, which came to $20.00 for a few items we purchased in the gift shop.
On March 7, 2008, we received our credit card bill and learned that Le Blanc had charged us $500.00! For what?? For the mistake make by Worry-Free Vacations and The Golden Parnassus?
Sorry, but this is not the way to do business. Behaving in an underhanded manner by "sneaking" charges to one's credit card is unacceptable. So, we have notified our Discover card dispute center regarding this $500.00 charge. Worry-Free Vacations will be receiving a letter detailing this issue.
Years ago, we traveled with Worry-Free Vacations. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I highly doubt we will bother again. Expedia has been and continues to be 2nd to none when it comes to "worry-free" vacationing.
So, bottom line: Even booking with a company that is known and handles charter package vacations proved to be unreliable and ruined the first day of our 5-day vacation.
