Was a guest at the hotel from Jan 20 to 29, 2009. Food was good and staff was good. The only problems were the lounge chairs not enough, pool water should be warmer and hot tub was chilly. Beach needs improvements as the drop off to the water was at least 2 feet and was dangerous when exiting the water. Rooms were clean. The menu should be changed every few days. I believe if we go again we will be going to Riviera Maya as the hotels are newer and beaches are more friendlier.

We stayed at the Golden Parnassus between Jan 26 - Jan 31. This was my second time at the resort, but only my first since it was changed from the Golden Crown. As always, the food was really good, with lots of selection. The level of service was excellent. The rooms are a little out-dated, probably a 3-star quality, and could use an update.

One issue that we had with the resort is the fact that guests from the sister property, the Great Parnassus, had priviledges at the Golden Parnassus. This made the 214-room Golden property far too busy. If you didn't reserve a beach chair by 7:00 a.m., you were out-of-luck for the entire day. The beach at the Golden is much better than at the Great, so many people from the Great took advantage of that. This is my only complaint.

Arrived from COLD Minnesota Jan 29 to cool drinks and a damp towel. Check in was a breeze. We upgraded rooms to ocean side (extra $40/night) Totally worth it. View was breathtaking. An in room Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean was perfect after a day on the beach. Huge king bed and large bathroom/shower. Every day the maid had unique towel art for us. Layed on the beach or by the pool. Beautiful, well kept area. Entertainment staff was great. Got everyone involved. Lovely beach, bigger than others. Waves were pretty big most days - had to be careful. But had fun jumping over them. No snorkling there - too rough. Drinks were yummy - but not very strong. We drank all day and had little to show for it. Food was good - though similar at most places. The Old Barn had great steak and yummy nachos. Huge breakfasts with anything you could imagine. Room service 24 hr/day - nice after a night a drinking. Nightly shows were ok - you had to be a good sport and try to get involved. Tips: ride the bus. It was $.65 anywhere we went. We never waited more than 2 min. outside our resort. Good shopping - places like La Isla for the good stuff. Open market/downtown to barder. Went on two excersions - snorkling at a national park (great fish - didn't love the bumpy speed boat ride) and a 11 set zip line tour. FUN! Tip: don't book them at the hotel. You can get them cheaper if you look around. We got screwed. But we had a great time on both.
Only downfalls of the resort: the hot tub overlooking the beach was NOT hot - barely warm. Be careful not to lose anything - a large fee if you do (towel cards, remote, door keys, etc) Also, the chair situation needs to be addressed. People got up early and saved chairs - some more than they needed and never used them for hours and hours. They need to come up with a better way to make sure everyone has a place to relax. After all, that is why everyone is there.

Overall, loved it. And would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to all who made our trip so special.

We just got back on Jan 31. from our trip with 9 other people, and we can't wait to go back. This is not the fanciest hotel, but the place is very clean and the food is great! It is not a huge hotel, so everything is close to walk to. The help is very friendly and helpful. The beach is beautiful, with shallow water that goes out about 50 yards. We spent time every day in the ocean. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
