We went on a week just post Swine Flu hysteria, so the property was about 30% full. We upgraded to a beach side room and we were so happy with that choice. Sure, it was not the most modern room, but it was comfortable enough. The sister property, Great Parnassus, was much swankier, but we noticed the people from that property were hanging at our hotel. The staff was amazing, at every level. The food was sublime, at every restaurant, at both properties.
Don't fall for the hard pressure sell, when you check in, to visit another property to do the time share gig. The free gifts are not worth it.
The best excursion deals offered are through Aqua World for some snorkel, scuba, and day trip excursions. These are sold at the pool side shack, where they give out towels. We took a day trip to Isla Mujeres that was the funnest day of the trip; the boat crew was hilarious!
The beach at the hotel was nice, and that seems to vary depending on where on the peninsula you are.
We spent 7 days and did a lot of excursions, including Chichen Itza. If I go back to Cancun, I will stay at the Golden Parnassus again
