This was my friend and I's third trip to the Golden. As usual it was wonderful.
We arrived at around 2 on Friday the 19th of June. Our room was ready. 2nd story ocean view. The room was cold, just the way we like it. It stayed cold the whole 8 days. The room was clean and stayed that way! Maria our maid was there everyday at 8 am to clean. She did a wonderful job. Ocean view was good. We have had better views but we could see the ocean and half the pool and tiki bar so we were ok. As far as noise we had very little problems. On bbq night the noise was a little much but nothing we could not handle.
The front desk was great. We asked for extra pillows and they were there within an hour. They were very informative. Helped us with everything info wise.
The waiters and bartenders recognized us as soon as they saw us and greeted us as friends and ask how we were and the rest. Emily the girl in the Beer Garden ran up and hugged us. She is great. Jose, Carlos and Fonsie had our drinks ready for us as soon as we entered the bar area.
The pool was cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons since the sun is shining on it all day. Lilly was always there to get us another drink by the pool. We have had better entertainment staff but we have also had worse. They were still good with what people that were there. Only about 50 % full.
The food was super. We love the Shanga la. We went there to eat almost every night. They have a wonderful Cream brulee. I had mixed seafood at Pier 12 on my birthday very very good and there Coconut Shrimp is the best. I love the guacamole in the Breeze snack bar, I just dip it on a plate and add there wonderful hot french fries. Good latenight and snack food.
We meet lots of fun people from everywhere. Pensylvania, New York, and the UK that I can think of. When we arrived back into Oklahoma I had already received an email form our friends in the UK.
I can't say enough about the Golden. I love it.
I know there is more to say but can't think of anything right now

IT was our 6th time there and it was like coming home. The staff remembers you and your drinks. Yes, it isn't the Ritz but you won't have the fun we had if you went to the Ritz. GP has the best staff from Pedro (Security) who always went with me to the business center to Fonzie, Jose, Lily and the entertainment staff. I forgot Gamaliel in the buffet. We also met a great bunch of people there...killer volleyball w/ Brooklyn, Joey, Robert (?), Sheldon, Travis, Half Pint , Donna and others from Texas & Oklahoma. We had a ball and hope to be there again with them and the staff who are always great. Yesm we have photos but haven't gotten them off the card yet. PM me with your email addy and I will forward them to you.

My boyfriend and I stayed here from June the 10th till June 24th. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here, we read some reviews before going about the hotel being slightly outdated and a bit older but anybody who writes this really needs to put things into perspective the hotel IS a bit older but who cares when your staying in such a gorgeous location. We thought the staff where amazing, they work so hard! We particularly loved Jose at the Tiki Bar, Fermin in the beer garden & Antonio at the Breeze snack bar. We never experienced watered down drinks and didnt feel like we needed to tip constantly to receive great service. The one downside to the hotel was the night time entertainment, we loved the activities staff Luis,Said & Ariana but the newly appointed manager was terrible and most people looked bored at night. We also loved the food and could always find something to eat. We went on 3 excursions - day away to Isla Mujeres, Captain Hook pirate ship & the Thomas Cook bar crawl. The day away to Isla Mujeres was the best day we had, totally worth the money. We went swimming with dolphins & snorkelling with sharks & stingrays. The Captain Hook pirate ship was also good, we had been out the previous night - not a good idea!! And lastly the TC bar crawl was a waste of money we paid $75 each and didnt really feel looked after.

All and all we had the best holiday we could ask for, we had absolutely no trouble with anything in the hotel, we thought the staff where amazing they look after you so well and do anything to help you. The activity staff where awesome. The Cancun nightlife is amazing. The Golden Parnassus may not look like the flashiest fanciest hotel in Cancun but if you want that go somewere like the Ritz & don't complain, in this hotel you're guaranteed to make friends and have fun, and thats what holidays are all about. We'd go back in a minute if we could.

Before booking this trip I read all the reviews on trip advisor and was kinda scared. VERY IMPORTANT....... tips are supposed to be included already but we tipped more than we seen most other people tipping, and on our last day there you would have thought we had some kind of disease because we were IGNORED by the staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That really left a bad taste in my mouth!! When we got there we were seated and offered drinks, the bellboy will "get" your luggage for you but you are going to have to tip! He actually just grabs it before you can say anything. The room was better than we though, we had lagoon view and it was nice. But the bed was the worst bed ever, by the time we left our arms and shoulders and backs were KILLING us. The staff was nice for the most part, the front desk had a few ladies that were not so nice and the lady who runs the little gift store you see when you walk in was a real %^$&*! One of the elevators had no air, so when you got in you melted. Of cousre they are going to get you to go see their time share down the road called The Royal. We are not time share buyers but we ended up buying what we thought was a great deal, now we are leary and are not so happy about our decision.I would advise against it. The maid in our room was GREAT!! We loved yolonda!! The beach was better, way better than the reviews I read, very nice. Drinks were watered down, always order an extra shot and just add it to your drink. The food, was just OK, not the best, some of looked gross, but was overall ok. The last night we ate there we got really sick. The resturants were all HOT and humid so that sucked too. Not alot of people were there only about 30% full but this was about a month after the swine flu scare. We May go back one day, the all adult part was a good idea for us, we liked that part. Just remember to tip or you will be sorry!!

We went on a week just post Swine Flu hysteria, so the property was about 30% full. We upgraded to a beach side room and we were so happy with that choice. Sure, it was not the most modern room, but it was comfortable enough. The sister property, Great Parnassus, was much swankier, but we noticed the people from that property were hanging at our hotel. The staff was amazing, at every level. The food was sublime, at every restaurant, at both properties.

Don't fall for the hard pressure sell, when you check in, to visit another property to do the time share gig. The free gifts are not worth it.

The best excursion deals offered are through Aqua World for some snorkel, scuba, and day trip excursions. These are sold at the pool side shack, where they give out towels. We took a day trip to Isla Mujeres that was the funnest day of the trip; the boat crew was hilarious!

The beach at the hotel was nice, and that seems to vary depending on where on the peninsula you are.

We spent 7 days and did a lot of excursions, including Chichen Itza. If I go back to Cancun, I will stay at the Golden Parnassus again
