My husband and I went to Cancun on June 27th to celebrate our anniversary and had originally booked our stay for the Great Parnassus. After 5 hours of being there, we quickly learned that we would not be getting any relaxation in there, so we requested a transfer to the adults only Golden Parnassus. It was the best choice we could have ever made! We arrived to find a low key beach bar with young couples all enjoying themselves and since the hotel wasn't very full, everyone seemed to know one another, including the bartender and other staff. The next 6 days were no different. Everyone was extremely friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay nice. There were many food options - Sumo (Japanese), Paradise (buffet and different stations made to order), Old Barn (steakhouse with some seafood), Pier 12 (seafood), and Shangri-La (formal dining - Note: men have to have long pants and closed toe shoes, women will want to wear a sundress or something of that nature) - We enjoyed Sumo (stirfry and shrimp tempura sushi were good) and the fried ice cream, too!), Paradise (breakfast - omlet station, waffle station with french toast, smoothie station / lunch - stir fry, roasted chicken, pizza, quesadillas were all good), Old Barn (fillet mignon was REALLY yummy and the mushroom tostadas for an appetizer), Shangri-La had a wonderful mushroom crusted beef tenderloin that came with yummy mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Another couple that we went with order the grouper, but said it was rather salty - may want to ask for no salt! We didn't care for Pier 12 - the crab cakes were mostly cake and not much crab and the shrimp soup came with their heads still on (a little creepy with them looking at you!) - The snack bar by the pool (The Breeze) had wonderful grilled chicken and was wonderful to go grab a plate of nachos complete with cheese sauce and pico de gallo (which was INCREDIBLE). We had an ocean front suite, which was nice with a jacuzzi and a great view. We were only on the 2nd floor, but could still see the ocean over the palm trees. The housekeeper was great and didn't miss a thing - she would crank the ac as low as it could go, so bring some long pants and maybe even a sweatshirt if you are cold natured (like me) - it you turn the temperature up too much, the moisture buidup is awful (on the mirror and the sliding glass door and even the tile floor). I would advise you to bring an insulated mug or something to put your drinks in - the bar will fill those and wash them for you and they are much better than the little cups that they have, which sweat really bad and can't keep your drinks cold for long. They sell insulated cups in the gift shop for $5 if you forget, though. If you want to buy t-shirts or anything, get them at the gift shop b/c they are only $5 and we didn't see them for that price anywhere else! Also, take water bottles or buy water bottles in the gift shop and you can refill them all over the resort (they have water machines with filtered water that is chilled) - Don't drink the water out of the sink in your room, though! The bars all use filtered water, so don't worry about your drinks! The ice is fine, too! If you want to go into town, the market connected to Margaritaville is nice, b/c it is inside and has AC - nice for a cool day out of the sun! You can ride the bus for 70 cents per person and just tell the driver where you are going. Also, HIGHLY recommend booking the day trip to Isla de Mujeres - you can book it through Aqua World which is at the hut down by the pool - it is from 9-5 and you can have the party boat experience, enjoy the private beach club, swim with a sand shark, snorkeling (saw lots of beautiful fish), seeing a lot of culture, seeing the sea turtles, massage on the beach, shopping in the flea market, going kayaking, and relaxing in a hammock on the beach all in one day! Lots of fun, but lather on the sunscreen! Although it is all-inclusive, we still tipped those that went above and beyond to serve us - for example, when we were down on the beach laying out, Maria would come and get our drinks for us so we didn't even have to get up! I could go on forever, but those are the main tips and suggestions I can offer! Great experience...the only thing my husband and I decided it was lacking was a swim up bar, but we just took turns hopping out and going to the bar or flagging down a waitress! Enjoy your trip! :)

Stayed for 6 nights 6/20-6/26. We booked with applevacations and it worked out fine. They were at the airport and took us straight to the hotel and were there promptly to take us back on the last day. The weather was really hot, but we didn't get a drop of rain.

Check in: Arrived about noon. The lobby was really hot, they handed us a smelly wet towel and sat us in the lobby. The front desk girl brought our wrist bands and said check in was at 3pm. Then the concierge greated us and told us about the hotel, night life, buses, resturants, etc. It was infomative if you have never been there, however, at the end he thru in the breakfast at the Royal (time share) I quickly said we are not interested and he did not pressure any further.

Rooms: We had double beds on the lagoon side (wanted a king, but we were fine with the doubles) The air worked great in our room. It was very clean with a decent bed but the pillows were hard. The bathroom was really dark which made it difficult to do makeup and our toilet did clauge one day which they fixed immediatly. Nothing was bad enough to hamper our vacation.

Pool: We hung out by the pool everyday, having drinks and playing games. There was pool vollyball, beer chuging contest, beer pong, water aerobics, margarita and guac making lessons. However, they have a new entertainment manager so the first 2 days were a huge bore. When Rueben and the girl (forget her name) showed up it really improved. Lilly and Marena (pool girls) are really good at getting your drinks filled. Fonzie and Carlos at the Tiki are really good. The hotel was 60% full so we never had a problem getting a chair.

Beach: We loved it. It was narrow but good enough. You could swim in the water and the waves were perfect. The pool and Tiki are right on the water so the view is gorgeous no matter were you sit.

Drinks: They only have XX draft, I was hoping for Corona. Mixed drinks are not that strong unless you ask for it. They do have some upgraded liquors (absolute, bacardi, beef eater, Cuervo ) but they are under the shelf, just ask for it. I had dirty martinins the last couple days, loved them!!

Staff: All were wonderful. Entertainment lacked a few days but everyone else was great. Maids, bartenders, restaurant staff, beer garden staff, all of them were very good. We took $125.00 in ones and used almost all of them for tips.

Restuarants: We enjoyed all of them. They have enough variety to suit anyones taste. Love the sushi at the sumo. the Sangra La was my least fav. My dinner had a large shrimp with the head and legs still attached. My fiance' said it is for the "apperance" of the dish. I found it a bit disturbing having those bulging black eyes looking at me.

All in all, we had a good time. I liked staying at a smaller resort because you get to know everyone and it makes the vacation so much better. We met 2 other couples and hung out with them the entire trip.

I would recommend for anyone seeking a fun, yet mature, adults only crowd.

It is a fun place were most people are doing their best to drink non-stop. If this isn't what your after then it's not going to be your place. The staff is fantastic as is mentioned by every other review. The location is great and you can walk a block away and jump onto a bus and cruse around Cancun for 7 pesos. The food at all the restaurants was pretty good. the room service is slow but still nice to have. The pool activities and tiki bar make the day scene.

we asked for an upgraded room and the management gave it to us for free. If you have a standard room make sure you are aware that you will have no refrigerator and a very small shower. The upgraded room takes can of both of these issues.

all in all a decent place but i think this is the last all inclusive i am going to bother with. there is just too much to see and do outside of a resort. But it was a good time.

This was my friend and I's third trip to the Golden. As usual it was wonderful.
We arrived at around 2 on Friday the 19th of June. Our room was ready. 2nd story ocean view. The room was cold, just the way we like it. It stayed cold the whole 8 days. The room was clean and stayed that way! Maria our maid was there everyday at 8 am to clean. She did a wonderful job. Ocean view was good. We have had better views but we could see the ocean and half the pool and tiki bar so we were ok. As far as noise we had very little problems. On bbq night the noise was a little much but nothing we could not handle.
The front desk was great. We asked for extra pillows and they were there within an hour. They were very informative. Helped us with everything info wise.
The waiters and bartenders recognized us as soon as they saw us and greeted us as friends and ask how we were and the rest. Emily the girl in the Beer Garden ran up and hugged us. She is great. Jose, Carlos and Fonsie had our drinks ready for us as soon as we entered the bar area.
The pool was cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons since the sun is shining on it all day. Lilly was always there to get us another drink by the pool. We have had better entertainment staff but we have also had worse. They were still good with what people that were there. Only about 50 % full.
The food was super. We love the Shanga la. We went there to eat almost every night. They have a wonderful Cream brulee. I had mixed seafood at Pier 12 on my birthday very very good and there Coconut Shrimp is the best. I love the guacamole in the Breeze snack bar, I just dip it on a plate and add there wonderful hot french fries. Good latenight and snack food.
We meet lots of fun people from everywhere. Pensylvania, New York, and the UK that I can think of. When we arrived back into Oklahoma I had already received an email form our friends in the UK.
I can't say enough about the Golden. I love it.
I know there is more to say but can't think of anything right now

IT was our 6th time there and it was like coming home. The staff remembers you and your drinks. Yes, it isn't the Ritz but you won't have the fun we had if you went to the Ritz. GP has the best staff from Pedro (Security) who always went with me to the business center to Fonzie, Jose, Lily and the entertainment staff. I forgot Gamaliel in the buffet. We also met a great bunch of people there...killer volleyball w/ Brooklyn, Joey, Robert (?), Sheldon, Travis, Half Pint , Donna and others from Texas & Oklahoma. We had a ball and hope to be there again with them and the staff who are always great. Yesm we have photos but haven't gotten them off the card yet. PM me with your email addy and I will forward them to you.
