We (7 0f us) stayed at the Riu Caribe for the second year running. The weather was fantastic. The food was excellent and the choice was amazing. The beach bar serving pizzas was understaffed and consequently we had to wait up to 40 mins for a pizza. The rooms were clean and on our departure some of the rooms were being refurbished. The beach and pool areas were kept very clean. The entertainment team worked very hard to keep everyone entertained, although some of last year's staff had left and new staff had to learn the dances/shows very quickly. We went on various excursions last year so this time we just chilled apart from a day excursion to Isla Mujures. I can recommend this - no need to book through the rep though, just have a walk down to the nearby ferry. The kids loved the golf buggies to see the island. Some of us held a shark (no charge -just make a donation). My neice went to the Kids Club but sometimes the staff did not interact with her,but they made up for it at the Mini Disco and she was on the stage every night. She even sang 'Mamma Mia' on the karaoke. (She's only 3).
Coco Bongos and Senor Frogs were good!!
The swine flu alert did not spoil our holiday. We knew nothing about it until we arrived home. Had we booked to go 2 weeks later then our holiday would have been postponed but fortunately this did not happen. We can't wait to go back.
