Four of us here now - second day without electricity .... No air conditioning, no lights, no idea when this place will get back to "normal". Other hotels are OK, but all the guests get here get is excuses. But all of the restaurants, shops, and generally anywhere else you can spend money is open and wll lit. Noisy last night in the halls with kids running around and screaming until midnight - hotel personnel said they could do nothing since "the power is out". Staying here in the semi-tropics in such a supposedly high class place without electricity is a nightmare. Place is very clean and the staff generally seem nice - but never again here - NEVER! I do not like to rant and verbally trash a place like this - but they are clueless with the truth. Buyer Beware!

I stayed here with my husband, sister and her boyfriend.

Room: We shared a room with 2 beds and had an amazing ocean front room. I have stayed in other Marriott's and have always been impressed. CasaMagna did not disappoint. The room was comfortable for the four of us. The beds were comfy. Although I like down pillows, I like to combine it with a pillow that doesn't flatten. But waking up to the sun rising over the Caribbean is well worth it. They do have internet, but it's $20 a day. Our wireless was really slow and the ethernet didn't seem to work.

Grounds: The grounds were clean and beautiful. The pool was big and warm. The swim up bar was nice. The jacuzzi was big but the weather was too hot for me to want to get in it. They can probably use a few more umbrellas out. Shade was hard to find. If you can find a spot that you can push the umbrella up close to the pool so you can hang out in the water and be in shade, you will be good to go. The only problem is as the day goes on, you will lose that shade.

Beach: Small beach but nice. There are rocks in front of the hotel. The flags were red in front of the hotel. At the beginning of the week the undertow was too strong to hang out in the ocean. But Friday Saturday and Sunday the ocean was perfect for just standing around and bobbing up and down over the waves without that strong undertow wanting to take you out. We hung out in the ocean in front to the JW Marriott since CasaMagna had rocks.

Food: The Argentine restaurant was the only restaurant closed. We visited Champions which was just ok. Nothing spectacular. They have a Thai restaurant and a BeniHanas type restaurant on site both which we did not visit. We did order food by the pool and it was decent. My husband ordered the seafood quesadilla and he was surprised that they did not skimp on the seafood. They do have a little market in the lobby where you can buy water, snacks, clothing, medicine, souveniers, COFFEE, and they also make sandwiches and have fruit plates and deserts you can order. If I would have known sooner, I would have ordered sandwiches to take with us on our road trip to the ruins. I had a collapsable cooler that I brought with me which I filled with ice and drinks and it would have kept the sandwiches fresh and cold. They also have breakfast croissant sandwiches if you don't want to eat at their breakfast buffet. They do offer a buffet breakfast and menu breakfast where the Argentine restaurant is. I had the Chiliquilles which were good. The buffet had good variety. There is also a McDonald's,Papa Johns and a convenience store across the street.

Other: Our room did have a minibar but were unable to use the fridge to store our water. I brought a collapsable cooler to keep our drinks cold and that came in handy. Otherwise the fridge is 5 bucks per day. No coffee machine but I think you can rent one.

Ask the concierge for places to eat, sometimes they will give you a coupon for a free appetizer or drinks at places they recommend. Also while looking for a restaurant in Downtown Cancun, La Parrilla, a guy gave us a coupon for complimentary drinks. One coupon = 2 free drinks. I had a Margarita and my husband a Pina Colado. They did not skimp on the alcohol either.

Stayed at this hotel recently and I just loved it! Everything from the Staff to the oversized rooms it was fantastic!

The room were very big and oversized. I had a prime ocean view and it was beautiful. The bed was on of the most comfy I had ever slept on. The TV is nice it was a 32" flat screen LCD I do believe. Room service was very fast and prompt! I just can't say enough good things about this hotel. We were greeted at the lobby with a nice and the bell boy took our luggage up to the room very quickly. Check in took about two minutes if that. It was very fast and convienent.

The only negative I could come up with was the beach was a little rocky, but thats to do Hurricane Wilma a few years ago. There were still importing sand and building it back up. I couldn't believe how much damage a hurricane could do until I saw it first hand. The water was very aqua and beautiful. Flying in I couldn't belive it honestly. It looked exactly like on a postcard or something just beautiful!!

I stayed for $109.00 a night which I thought was very cheap for a prime location on the ocean. You just can't beat the value you get with the Casa Magna~! I would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone who likes a good deal with great service and friendly faces.

I took my college aged daughter for a quick getaway and we were beyond impressed! We are extremely picky about cleanliness and this hotel was immaculate! Every floor is stone and glistening. The lobby is immense with gorgeous chandeliers and fresh flowers. The rooms were beautiful, the beds were plush and the view was like a postcard. We have been to St. Kitts, Aruba, Bermuda, the Bahamas and nothing compared. Hawaii will always be my number one, but Cancun will now be my number 2. You can't beat the value. Our food was fresh and the staff was polite. We had vendors approach us on the beach, but if you say no, they say thank you very much and move on. We took the bus everywhere at night and were surprised to see so many American fixtures like Outback and Planet Hollywood. It was nice that we had the option of exploring Mexican culture or relying on the old familiar. Room service was very reasonable, fast and good. The only scary part for us was the airport as you are bombarded by offers for taxis and shuttles!!! Arrange transportation with the Marriott ahead of time and know that you the guy you are looking for has a sign that says Casa Magna, but also says JW Marriott on the other side. We passed him 3 times thinking that he only went to the JW. Don't worry about exchanging money in advance. We were able to use US dollars the entire trip. We have already booked a family vacation for the end of the summer. Cancun was spectacular and the Marriott Casa Magna was one the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at.

We stayed at the Marriott with two children ages 11 and 7 years old. We stayed for 5 days for Memorial Holiday. We loved the resort. The hotel was very pretty and clean! The pool was nice and not crowded. However there were not many visitors due to the swine flu scare.
We truly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We did the all inclusive escape package. It made the most sense. It included all meals and beverages. It was well worth it because the food was expensive. I would recommend the all inclusive if you are going to spend the bulk of your time at the resort.
I would also recommend catching the bus as opposed to taxis. The bus is less than $1 and runs frequently. It takes you every where you would need to go.
The hotels has a list of tours and excursions which are great. I would recommend Xel-Ha for snorkeling, swimming and exploring. There are many water activities and it includes your food for the whole day. We also went to Isla Mujeres which is a beautiful island. You can take a ferry for $15 and spend the day there. You can rent scooters and golf carts to get around the island. It is very Key West like. There are many restaurants and a lovely beach.
But getting back to the Marriott, LOVED IT! The beds were comfortable and the atmosphere relaxing. The beach was small but not a big deal. Room service was excellent. The food was hot and arrived promptly.
The internet was ridiculous. It cost $16 a day and should have been cheaper. But what can you do?
