The pool setup was nice, but other than that it left a lot to be desired. The hallways all had a horrible smell for the entire week, their timeshare is extremely deceptive (Never buy it! we were scammed by what sounded like a great deal at the time, but that's another issue altogether), the margaritas were usually terrible (which was disappointing since we were in Mexico), and the food was like bad cafeteria food (even the nice restaurant, which is Italian for some reason, was very sub-par).

The best part of this resort is that it's located just off the beach. As far as the hotel, there are PLENTY of hotels on the beach that are MUCH nicer.

We arrived at Park Royal Aug 5th,2006 for a week stay. There was 4 of us in our party. We booked two rooms, asked of an upgrade to a presidental suite where we could all stay together and after a bit of talking we got...WOW what a suite..two room, two bathroom suite overlooking to ocean and myan ruins with a hottub on the balcony. 3 beds, large sitting area, small kitchenette. Each room had glass doors that opened up to balcony. Only issues we had with the room is every day for 6-8 hours they worked on the room next to ours which emmitted a very strong glue like smell. I complained but nothing was done. Was ok we had things to do anyway but was impossible for a afternoon nap. The other issue was our room wasnt cleaned everyday, but when we asked for extra towels.,ect...they were right there within minutes. Check-in was very slow, and couldn't get a drink or food until it was complete. Staff was friendly....especially in the restaurants. Food was good, Italian specialty was fantastic! Could have used a little bit more of a variety on the buffets. but was some of the best buffet food we had on our many trips to MX. This is a good hotel if you are bringing your family...loads of things for the kids to do. However, the adult entertainment....well there wasnt any. The only swim up bar was at the "family" pool and the bar seats in the water always had kids at them. All in all was a great stay...would stay there again but only if we brought children otherwise would go back to an all adult---just our preference.

The place is ok. Really nice and clean place. The room was always clean what was a plus. Nice beach great location. Breakfast was real good but all places always have good breakfast. The dinner buffet not good. All inclusive resorts most food is not that great. The hamburgers and nachos bar always was really bad. The place is inexpensive so i guess you get what you pay for. i would rather eat the 85 cent tacos in town alot better. They have a swim up bar which you can get most drinks. The one negative you get a beer in a dixie cup. Riu is a million times better. Stocked bar in the room, bottle beers and a club at the hotel for around the sames price. The food was alot better also. WE booked this trip last minute and the place was ok and price was nice. SErvice was really good but the food is kind of weak and the bars are ok. WOuld i stay here again probably not but if i was on a low budget it will do. Cancun is a great place i would recommend to everybody. Its more of a couples place then a singles place. I would recommend the tours with aqua word. 3 Tours for $ 115. jungle tour, snorkle tour, and isla majears. Great island real fun. All inclusive free drinks and food was a great time.

My best friend and I, both 28 years old, stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time since September 2004 because we had tried some other all-inclusives which just didn't compare. Once again, just about everything was excellent. As stated in many reviews, the hotel is very clean, and I always saw the staff cleaning. Our room was actually a little dim at night, but that wasn't really an issue.

What really impressed me was Manuel, the bartender at the pool bar. Without one mention of our previous stay there, he actually remembered us. He makes wonderful strawberry margaritas. The staff is much the same as it was from our 2004 trip. I saw many familiar faces. They are always smiling and very helpful and professional.

Don't hesitate to book at this hotel- you won't be sorry! Just remember that a smile and some manners go a long way!

  • Liked — Almost every room has at least a partial ocean view
  • Disliked — Dim lighting in room
  • Tips/Secrets: — You can upgrade to ocean front Presidential Suite w/ hot tub on balcony for $75/nt in August!

try to have at least five full days there i only had four and i want to still be there!!!! we had 6 people stay (four rooms) and every one of us enjoyed this stay thoroughly. even at airport customs efficient etc clean --the all inclusive plan really makes all the difference- from 7 am til 10:30pm you can always find something to eat drink etc what a luxury for a vacation. the hotel was immaculate, cleaning all the time. also it is a compact hotel and just a few steps to beach. request a room with a pool view, also with bath, and shower as both are great -our view was like a postcard, pool view, beach, mayan ruin view, the weather was perfect but i know you may not have such luck. the water, turquoise the most beautiful i have seen! huts on the beach, unusual lounge chairs right under huts, plenty of lounge charis at pool. two barstropical drinks .. definitely make reservations for sit down restaurant at night, no shorts they will not let you in and go early enough to still see the water, spectacular and great quality food. shrimp rissotto, beef great soup specials. plenty of food at buffet for breakfast, lunch, great great place we are talking about next year already and my parents have been all over the place!! mall rights across the street upscale, nice, there is a dolphin show there at about 7pm $13 to get in but if you just sit across from it up top you can see most of it for free!! it is only about 20 minutes long i only left the hotel to go across to get gifts thats it, i wouldnt have even left at all!! it was so relaxing so beautiful -- watch out the waves two days were huge and a young guy dislocated his shoulder when the wave crashed on him!!
ok few things to work on - hallways noisy kids echo (maybe bring earplugs if yo uwant to sleep past 8am - desserts could have been a little more variety but fine-- non motorized watersports are not right there -- about 10 mintues away -- i cant even think of anything else - it was really great -- oh tv just had abc espn two hbo but ya know that was fine too i have never spent less time in a hotel room and the room was gorgeious, its just that nothing beat that outside !!!
we highly recommed this hotel, adult pool too just great -- i miss it terribly!!!!

  • Liked — the all inclusive
