This was our second visit to Moon Palace in 4 years. We had another great time. The resort grounds were recovering from Hurricane Wilma, but they were still great. Just not as lush as we recall from 2002. The pools are spectacular, pool side service was great. We stayed on the Sunrise side, had a great view of the ocean. The resort did not seem as busy as last time we were there, which was nice.

The food, drinks and service were great. We enjoyed all of the restaurants we ate at, especially the brazilian style restaurant in Nizuc side and the steakhouse on Sunrise side.

If you arrive before noon, ensure that you request early check-in, as we did not and had to wait till 3pm for our room. They had shuttles into town to one of the malls, as they other Palace Resorts are under repairs from Wilma. If you get bored at the mall, hop on the city bus and go further into Cancun.

I GUARENTEE THAT THIS REVIEW IS ALL YOU'LL NEED>> AND IN DEPTH REVIEW OF THE MOON PALACE!!

My family and another family stayed at the moon palace and the moon palace resort in cancun was a dream vacation come true! An airport van picks you up and takes you back to the airport, and it is only about 10 mins. away from the cancun airport. The resort is HUGE so there is quite a bit of walking to do but you get used to it by the end of the first day.

ROOMS: The rooms were, in my opinion, OK. I liked them, but they were a little to plain. The beds were a little stiff, but they were very comfortable. The maids did an excellent job cleaning the room everyday and there was absolutely no worry of them stealing anything (which seems to be a problem in many other hotels!)

FOOD: The food was very good. I must admit, it wasn't FABULOUS FOOD but it was very good, and I liked the all-inclusive concept. The drinks were excellent and i enjoyed the fact that you could eat and drink as much as you want.

BEACH: The Moon Palace beach must be the worst in canucn. It was murky, nasty, and there was SO MUCH seaweed and seagrass. BUT, honestly we did not find one minute to be able to swim on the beach. There is so much more to do and the pool is so great that you don't even want to go to a beach!

POOL: The pool at the moon palace without a doubt is the best in cancun. It is HUGE and thats an understatement. It completely makes up for the nasty beach. The best pool I have ever been in. It is sooooo clean and big and wonderful.

SERVICE: The service was excellent. All the waiters, concierges, and other staff members are so pleasant and willing to help you in any way they can. I just wish people would tip them more for their excellent service.

ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES: The entertainment was great. They have something for everyone, including nightly shows on the poolside terrace to teen and adult discos to childrens shows. They have a great kids club and other daily activities.

TOURS: The tours were great. We did ISLA MUJERES, which i highly recommend, and TULUM, which is much better than chichen itza as i hear. ISLA MUJERES is a must-do tour. A "party cruise" takes you to and from isla mujeres. The entertainment on the boat is hilarious and very fun. The tours/excursions are also very fun and the shopping is THE BEST...BRING ALOT OF MONEY!!! the prices in the shopping district were UNBEATABLE and certain things we bought we couldn't even find anywhere else. Tulum was ok...it was too hot to look at ancient temples but the beach was absolutely AMAZING...the beach club was also very nice.

WATER SPORTS: motorized water sports are NOT INCLUDED in the price, but are worth the extra money. We did jet-skiing and parasailng. I highly recommend trying both. The jet ski guys will happily ride you for as long as you pay for if you dont want to drive yourself, or they happily teach you how to do it. Parasailing was an amazing experience and everyone should try it.

All in all, the moon palace is a great place to spend your vacation. Although the beach is not so great, like i said there is so much to do that you'll forget all about the nasty beach, so don't worry about that. We had an exteremely grand time at the 5 star moon palace golf and spa resort...oh yea,...the golf course was unbelieveably great and so was the spa! i hope you enjoy your vacation as much as my family and our family friends did!

We have just returned from an incredible holiay in the moon palace. It took a long time to arrive but it was worth it in the end. The customer service was exceptional and every need was catered for. We stayed in the sunrise side of the resort. I find it hard to believe that people complain about walking distance between lobbies, as a family we enjoyed walking through the beautiful grounds and enjoying the views of the ocean. It was hardly a distance at all and we never took a bus or cart to get around the grounds as there was no need. ( unless you are infirm or elderly)Personally every drink that I wanted was there and there were excellent measures, the pool waiter service was excellent. No complaints about the room it was clean and tidy and exceptionally maintained and the shower was excellent . went jet skiing and did various other activities which were expensive like the dolphin tour but it was worth it. The food was great and we always had great service. The entertainment on a night was ok but not great. The pool was always clean and there was always sunbeds around the pool any time of day. It wouldnt of mattered to us which side we were on as a short walk is all it takes from one to the other.Loved the trip . Airport was fine , no major problems. My son is eight and he loved it especially the crazy golf and the lizards.Beautiful grounds and hotel overall a really good holiday to remember.

THE NIZUC SIDE
If you like to swim in the sea you will be disappointed the beach was superb the sand was like flour and you dont burn your feet , but lots of seaweed washed up and floats around although the hotel try and clear it. I read so many reviews about the place and some said some awful things i cant say anything bad at all. The staff are superb " ROMEO and DANIEL" two of the breakfast lunch waiters were brilliant always helpful cheery and extremely polite this was the same throughout the hotel. We only went on a few trips Xcaret is a must and so is the pirate ship dinner and show ( i was a bit dubious at first very crowded and you have to get your own food which is done by staff sending you in sections)but was worth going shop around if your going to go swimming with dolphins as there are so many we booked ours in xcaret it was so bad we recieved a refund!!! we booked all of our trips through the hotel as as we all know its hard to find your own rep!the hotel service is located in lobby and are very helpful.Food superb ,cleanliness outstanding ,hospitalty second to none we tipped most staff but dont believe you have to you dont my family and i loved it we will be going back there is to much to say about the moon palace in a few words so to summarise "first class" I nearly forgot to mention Laura are main maid was wonderful.P.P.S the jewllers inside the hotel Lapis is superb thank you to all the Lapis staff jewllery is stunning and fifty% cheaper than .U.K !

We travelled to the Moon Palace in Cancun from Atlanta, GA on August 10 (the day that the terror alert was issued). I have to admit that I was very apprehensive about the whole trip after seeing the situation in the Atlanta airport. Checking in with the ticketing agent went well, event with the massive crowd. The electronic ticketing worked like a charm. Then the adventure began. The airport authorities had to create a monsterous line that started from the ticketing area, travelled out of the building to the sidewalk, trailed around the building and then back to the baggage pick-up area, where it serpentined around all of the baggage carasels. It continued through the food plaza areas in six lines to the security screening area. All in all, it took a little more than two and one half hours in line to get through security. Luckily we arrived very early, but still had to sprint through the terminal to the gate. The gate agent saw us running and held the door to the plane. We were the last people to board. Unfortunately, we had become seperated from some of our travel companions in the monster line. They did not make the flight. It was a poor start to a vacation, but from that point on PARADISE.

We stayed at the Moon Palace resort. We have stayed at several of the other Palace resorts and decided to try this one as it is just outside of Cancun, but certainly close enough that all of the city's activities are easily reached. The weather was wonderful for the duration of our trip. Our room was clean and comfortable. Great linens on the bed made for a comfortable night of sleep. The service was exceptional. Be sure to visit Jose at the lobby bar on the Nizuc side of the resort. He is wonderful and made the best drinks. He went out of his way to get some ingredients for a drink that my wife requested.

The food was good overall. I had a couple of great meals and some fair meals. Be sure to visit the steak and grill by the pool and MoMo Na Hanna Asia restaurant. One of our travel partners had a birthday during our stay. The server at MoMo Na Hanna went out of his way to make her visit special.

While most everything at the resort is all-inclusive, we did pay for a couple of extra activities. We took the "Jungle Cruise" which was a trip where each couple gets their own personal small speed boat to follow the leader through the dense mangrove. You arrive at the national park to snorkel around the reef for a while and then make the journey back to the marina. I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the reef area. I took this same excursion about six years ago. There was a dramatic difference. Very few fish call this area home now. Whether this is contributed to the dramatic damage that the area sustained last year from the hurricane or the tremendous number of tourists that crowd the area, it was a bit of a let down. The other excursion was a trip to one of the giant night clubs by the resort activities staff. We went to Coco Bongo. While this trip is not for everyone, especially if you do not like smoke and noise, we had a blast. The show that the club performs nightly was well worth the money and the crowd. It made for a very late night, but it was FUN!
