We stayed at Sunset Royal. It was a great hotel. The food in the restaurants was good and the bar outside on the pool was great. The people there were very, very nice(Yvone, Nelly, Pablo, who even remembered our names, Riou, Miguel and many others)and the pool was clean actually spotless, it was very clean and neat. The service there was helpful and amazing they really made you feel like royalty. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the maid we had made our beds with flowers on them and made swans out of towels it was just really nice!

The sunset lagoon was very nice also. It was modern and the people were nicer than ever. It was an awesome hotel also.

The bad part of our trip was the Time Share presentation. It was awful. The said 90 mins. it was 5 hours! They drove us insane. After we told them no they would bring someone else and then we told them no again and someone else came. we had 5 different people giving us offers! We went inside so we could sign off on NOT wanting it and then some other person came and made us another offer. It was horrific. We finally got up and stormed out of the room furious! They stopped after that and the Vice president of the hotel(Alena) was helpful and telling us we would have amazing stay and she even gave us wine.

So I do suggest staying there it really is an amazing hotel and no one there was sick so dont worry about the swine flu!

My husband and I just got back from Cancun. We had stayed at two Sunset hotels before (Laguna Suites, which is my favorite, and Sunset Lagoon, which is great for small kids -but we have none), but this time they set us up at the "big" one. At first we were a bit uneasy, because we prefer the smaller, quieter places even if they are not right on the beach. But we are happy to report that we had a great time. The facilities are good (clean, modern, comfortable, roomy, great beach, nice spa), but the service is outstanding! From the guy who received us at the airport to the bell boy to the waiter to the concierge to the front desk manager, they all work with a smile on their face. And some of the staff even learned our names!

I stayed at the Royal Sunset and this is definitely going to be my go to vacation spot in Cancun. In fact it's THE reason why i'd ever go to Cancun again. I plan to visit every place on this earth if the money and time is right, God willing, but Cancun, i'd visit again. Royal Sunset has made it a pleasurable experience. Everything was great from the food, the breathtaking beach and the highly maintained hotel.

We have been timeshare owners for three years now and surprisingly have had great visits each year. This year was the best so far. We took another couple with us (we had a 2 bedroom suite unit) and they had a great time also. The service, food and shows were great! If you decide to do their formal dinner be sure to ask for the Mayan coffee at the end of your meal ! They do a flaming preparation of a coffee drink that will amaze.

One of the other great things about this facility is that it's a short walk to all the nightlife.

We stayed here through a package from Sam's Club. We were moved from the Ocean Spa to this place. Nice enough facility, rooms are decent, excellent showers and towels. We went with the all-inclusive, but that was not as great of a deal as we first thought. The breakfast buffets were pretty good, but lunch and dinners were mediocre at best. Some of the most bland Mexican food I have ever had. The only ice cream they had was coconut (not bad) and strawberry. The desserts also quite watery from sitting out and pretty bland also. And not real kid friendly on their menu. The hot dogs from the poolside grill was the kids staple. Also kind of odd hours for their serving times. The nightly entertainment is not suited towards young kids either. And it appears to be the same dance numbers to different bad music -- think of a cheesy Las Vegas stage show way way way off the strip. Also, I learned that a boogie board is not considered a "watercraft" and therefore not included in the all-inclusive. They charge $10 (cash only - no room charge) to rent a $5.00 boogie board. Even having the kids paint these ceramic pieces could not be charged to the room and was cash only. Wait staff was overall pretty good (Angel is tops). Their beach is really nice. Their drinks are really really weak. We got no pressure to take a sales tour -- which was nice. Overall the all-inclusive was over-priced for poor food and few services. Out first room was on the first floor right by a restaurant and a great view of the drop-off lane for the hotel and had a very strong cleanser smell. We got our room changed, but it took almost a full day for the AC to dry out the room. This was our first visit to Cancun. The water is stunning. We would go back again, but not stay at any of the hotels in this chain.
